Sesn02 - The Bare Necessities, NOT

Ok, so let's get a real vote going here.

We will continue with the NOT regardless of outcome.

A) We go Emperor, and go with the breaking all 20 turn deals
B) We go Emperor, and go with the specialists variance, although I would like to impose a size 3 or 4 minimum on that one
C) We go Emperor, and kill our trading chances with the not more than 1 of anything thing
D) We go straight up Emperor
E) We go straight up DG
F) We go a route not listed here (be specific)

Personally, I don't think my skills are up for one of those minor variants at DG.

If I read him right, Gozpel is voting for A, though it is his perogative to change his mind, especially if I'm not reading right.

Also, is everyone OK with Aztecs? Speak now or forever hold your peace. ;)

EDIT: In the interest of laziness, Matt, I usually go by Sesn. Oh and be careful - "I don't care what you call me" is a very dangerous statement around here. :p

How are cities supposed to grow with it's citizen sitting as a clown? Of course, we can add workers to get the pop up....

With the agricultural trait and fresh water, the city will grow, though very slowly. Certain cities won't grow at all during despotism, certain cities will require a worker join to get it kick started, certain cities can't grow (naturally) until railroad.

It will favor small cites and a militaristic path, which is why I suggested it here.

On a completely different topic, I perfer us not choosing the Iroquois. Reason being if things break our way, it'll be too easy. Any other civ is fine by me. Of course, we have to choose a variant first.

I'll be following this one Sesn. I was about to post turnlog and save for another SG and this made me stop in my tracks, which might be a first.

Well, I've been mulling this over for a while now. I mean, anyone can do an AW, right? :)

Feel free to offer any thoughts Bed_head, especially if you see something we don't.

EDIT: I was thinking the same thing Greebley, as noted in my voting options, which are quickly getting buried under posts.

I vote A, very perceptive Sesn :) Easy to remember, don't keep any deals for 20 turns, I will remember that. And Aztecs.

Btw, matthewv...6 posts! Welcome to CFC!
Finally out of a lurker's security blanket :)

Um, okay. I don't know how much I'll have to offer, but it certainly looks interesting as is. By the way, that was a really quick response. And is it okay if I call you Sesn? I am a bit lazy myself.

Edit: Oops, didn't notice your edit. I guess I was a little slow.

We're voting already?

Boy, you guys are fast.

Aztecs are good. Check :goodjob: .

B) - if we're doing the Kingdom of Clown or Empire of Insect, then I'd rather go all the way, without the min-size limit. Half the fun is in dealing with the initial expansion. So, save this one for later.

A) - gets my vote too.

Question: what about peace treaties? Does breaking peace treaties affect our ability to sign other peace treaties?

No, it doesn't affect our ability to sign peace again, provided we can show the offended civ how strong we are, but it does prevent us from buying goods up front with gpt or resources/luxes.

I see two votes for A thus far.

Aztecs seem to be a majority vote, so I'll start rolling some starts.

Still no word from Scout, eh? :hmm:

EDIT: Just noticed that my post count is one above one of the most hated numbers, 1918. I wonder if I'm about to endure a long drought?

At any rate, I may be a fool to want to do this, but I'd be willing to bet there are some like-minded fools out there...

I missed this line before.

 This filled up in no time.

And I was first on the buzzer :crazyeye:

Yea, I have been playing civ since the orignal  but just recently discovered SG's.

My vote is A and I don't mind being the Aztecs.

A is for the Axtorionate Aztecs

OK Bede. I tried looking it up, but you've apparently got a better vocabulary than Dictionary.com. Care to elaborate on the meaning of Axtorionate?

I generated some saves for our voting pleasure. :)

If there's still a spot... :wavey:

For you Scout? Of Course. :)

In case you missed it (the posts have been flying fast and furious), we're playing no optional techs, ever. We will also not honor any twenty turn deals through to the end. It is at our discretion whether we break those deals on turn 1 or turn 19.

Basically, only what we need, and our rep is worthless. ;)

EDIT: First post has been updated to reflect the game. The roster listed there is not the one we will use. I will put together a real roster once we have decided on a start.

EDIT2: And to think I was worried this might be a dud of an idea. 3 hrs and we've already filled a six man roster, hashed out an additional variant, and are voting on starts.

So I guess that means no libraries (or universities) ever. Geez...we're gonna look pretty silly if we build the internet in this game.. all those research labs and markets... :crazyeye:

Somehow, I doubt we'll ever see the Internet...;)

There will be a lot of things we won't be building in this game. Like lib, cav, knights, unis, Smith's, Bach's, Mil Acad, etc etc

Though I know how brother Bede feels about them, I imagine that temples and churches will be our sole source of culture, with the exception of the occasional wonder.

@Sesn,

Axtortionate Aztecs was a bad bit of word play. Look at it this way: Aztecs extorting technology with an ax.

See, I told you it was bad.

And you should have seen the rest of the <deleted> doggerel that went along with it.

Gotta be behind door #1

What was it you told me at one point? That we need a <chortle> smiley? I think I would have just used it. I don't think it was all that horrible, now that I know it's not a real word. :)
