Set things that make the civilizations unique

Things suggested like evolving civs where you for example get to choose which traits you want or need might be "realistic", but it will also erase some of the differences between the civs. There are probably other stuff suggested to increase the custamization of the civs that will do the same.

Maybe its not a problem but these set things will be the connection to the real civilizations and would probably increase the immersiveness for me at least.
So what things do you think should be set in the start and throughout the game?

The things I want set and can come up with right now are:

1. Cultural group.
2. Unique unit.
3. Traits, which ones. They could be given at some point but not choosable(?)
4. An option to set the religious development in a somewhat given path if it's done with christianity, islam, buddhism and so on. If you play culturally linked starting loc. for instance it would be nice if religious blocs developed.
5. A few culturally/religious unique buildings, units or wonders. This will bind the civs closer to their culture group.
6. Agressivness

Not a set thing but...
I would like to see a history develope in the civs too, one that will influence their feelings toward others, patriotism, general happiness and so on. You should be able to review it as you play to make your descisions easier or harder. I think I've read somewhere it's being implemented, am I right?!

I think that instead of a civ just having two traits, they should have all the traits, but each trait would have a different rank, like a civ could be Com:3, Sci:4, Ind:1, Sea:9, etc. And as the game went on, the more that you utilize the different traits the people of your civ will be trained more in that trai and it would go up one. Or it could be set values at begining. But this would provide a huge variety of differences in civ's.

I like the different rank system, but if you should gain ranks in traits through utilization, I'd like to see it set from the beginning whith minor changes depending of your playstyle or set in the beginning evolving through a given path. I't no good if you start to powergame civ and I wouldn't like if all the civs potentially could end up with the same traits.

That was one of my concerns, thats why i now think that the game would be unbalanced if the different traits could be raised, but if the traits were set at the begining of the game. Also, if CIV4 had a create-a-civ option than players could have the choice of distributing a certain number of points between the traits, like say 10 pts between the different traits.
