I think our empire is in good shape at the moment and that we are catching up in tech. I would reccomend a quick war against Nappy to take some more territory and completely throw him out of the game. He has hardly any miliatary left and most cities only have 2-3 riflemen.

I noticed that Saladin is building rock-n-roll & 3 gorges?
If we could get 3 gorges, all our cities get hydro. Wouldn't need to build a dam in each city.
Doesn't he realize he is fighting a war, and losing?
Maybe he should build a few military units, instead of building wonders I wanted us to get!
Hmmm, I wonder if we could still get these built before Sally gets them?
What cities of ours are industry powerhouses?

War with Nappy? I'd say sure... but how are we going to get Saladin to invite us into this war again? If we get involved, Cyrus gets involved. I wonder if that would alarm Monty enough to do a little freakshow of his own....

Finally we got Solomons temple built in Djenne! Took a while to get it though, didn't it? Heh heh. Now we need a few jewish missionaries for some of our cities. Nice cash boost as well.
Sir Toma got us our first modern units built, tanks and battleships!
I just know somebody is itching to play with these new toys of ours.
If we do go to war with nappy, we might want to send our modern navy in that general direction to aid with bombardment. If we get lucky, we could sink whatever fleet he has left while in port if we follow the bombardment with a tank blitz.

I also notice that Saladin must have bribed Nappy to declare war on Alex!
Okay, so that means that if we go to war with Nappy, we risk a war with Saladin (and make nicey nice with Alex?) That would certainly shift the axis of power on our world...
 
this is basicly europe 1913 here. bunch of back stabbing bastards delaring war on eachother and all manner of bizzare pacts and alliances.

How we ever expected to play a culture game in this sort of war prone game is beyond me!

No. We cannot declare war on our own.

I agree, it does look a lot like early 20th century affairs now, with empires trying to flex their old Imperial or Colonial muscles, but we aren't playing with pointy sticks and horsies anymore. Alex is doing very well against Saladin! I wonder if it is that airpower that is keeping Saladin pinned down and unable to move. But Sally does have SAM infantry... hmmm....

- Kumbi is due to grow in 4, taking us over the health limit. Even though we have plenty of food to support this it would not be in our interest to do so as the two remaining city tiles are both occupied by farms: no commerce/hammers. We might as well create a specialist now for some tangible benefit, therefore merchant created: income increases from +88 to +97gpt.
- In Gao, someone has switched an artist for a scientist. This isn't really worth it for the difference of 2 beakers between the two. I switch him back for additional cultural pressure on Anjar.
- PigPen is still suffering from the usual problems: much too unhealthiness and further growth will not benefit us. I halt growth and create 2 additional merchants (income increases to +109gpt). Unforunately, we are already maxxed out on artists here, but at least the merchants will provide an additional +4 culture/turn.
- Kushiku is currently set to "Avoid Growth" for health reasons; however, this does not use the city to its full potential. I cancel "Avoid Growth" and change a citizen into an artist. Same effect, but the city is now receiving a culture boost (it is under some pressure so could do with a little help in this department) and GP points.
- With a large food surplus,and all available city tiles currently in use, I am going to allow Besancon to continue growing into unhealthiness so that additional specialists are gained naturally.
- As we have a reasonable reserve of cash I decide to increase the culture slider to 10% for a few turns (-23gpt). This will increase pressure on Anjar, as well as helping some of our newer border cities.
- Cyrus is already building 3 Gorges Dam: it is currently due in 35 turns, but we would not be able to build it quicker in any of our cities.

- Hatty wants our help against Monty. This is quite an interesting prospect: us + Cyrus + Hatty could probably do Monty some damage, but I take the coward's way out (have you seen Monty's power graph recently?) I also don't want our current growth halted by war, but I am perfectly happy for this to happen to Monty. The downside is that Monty could become even more powerful if he succeeds in taking over Hatty's territory, and also Hatty will probably now be reluctant to vote for us at the UN (but I'm guessing she would have abstained anyway due to us cancelling deals with her previously).
- Mass Media -> Medicine. I think we badly need some more health improvements in our cities, but Cyrus doesn't agree with this, so he starts researching Satellites instead.

- Trying for a diplomatic win is a bit of gamble, but it is either that or keep going for another 150-odd turns to grab a score victory. Unless things change, our opponent will be Monty, and Cyrus/us combined will have double the number of votes that he can bring to the table. On the other hand, he seems to be generally better liked than us, so we might have to consider some grovelling/bribery to gain more support (or remove some of Monty's)
- Nagasaki is currently starving. I made a mistake and allowed it to grow beyond the food capacity of its tiles. Unfortunately, nothing can be done, unless we are willing (able?) to steal tiles from Angle or change an improvement into a farm.
- More Jewish missionaries could be sent out to any of our cities lacking the religion

Nice turn. Our power rating and military ranking is climbing again.
Should we find ourselves in a war with sad little Toku, it will be a short one.

Monty is a wild card. We don't want him to absorb Hatty's empire, but war is risky with his huge army. Maybe Hatty will make some diplomatic moves (Toku declares war on Monty! lol) and we will find ourselves in a better position, allowing us to get dragged into a war with Monty once his forces are spent and on the other side of the map.
#1 target would be his holy city. Remove his cash generating source, and he will be much easier to handle. Even a short war, that drives a stake into the heart of his empire should destabilize him. Nobody has ever taken a city of his, not even us! At some point, we may have to deal with him.

Broadcast towers! Woot. More culture pressure!

did my best to piss off toku, there's no way he'll attack though. he's too far behind and he knows it.

revolt emancipation and buy pigpen a hospital, and a broadcast tower. it's hammers are the suck.

we get over 1200 gold a turn at 0% science so use the 5 turns of emance to buy out all you can infra wise.

upgraded a bunch of rifles and grens around the borders into infantry.


when scotland yard builds spam spies and chain sabotage monty's oil and coal.

This is going to end on a boring note lol, no one dares attacks us as we slowly build up our military. bombers now and just change them into steaths when able.

Btw montys score actually went down during the turn, not sure what caused that.
