Sheesh!!! Bede is just training me in my very first SG. I'm hoping there'll be somebody left here to play with. :p

I'm in the same boat as gmaharriet, but mine is a little leakier. I, too, am on my first SG and first Emperor game, in the same game, with nerovats as chief tutor. I am not stopping now! And anyway,my PC is not fast enough to steadily play C3C, so PTW is what I play.

[WHINE]I did play PTW on a PII 300MHz, when it required 400MHz. I could play for about an hour and then I would get the dreaded Blue Screen Of Death. My machine now is PII 500MHz and C3C requires 550MHz. Still too little. [/WHINE]:(

I plan to continue with Civ3.

i'll stick to C3C, but have preordered C4.
will probably alternate between them.

and will have loads of fun lurking or playing with the legends.

and i'll probably have my fisrt C4 SG about a day after i get the game.

Good plan! Get the vital life-sustaining activity to a steady situation before opening the Civ4 box, because who knows how long you be parked in front of your monitor after that.

Seriously. :)

Well, so much for that. I pre-ordered it today. Let's hope it gets here after at least a couple of my midterms. In the meantime, I'll have to be rather more studious than usual to make up for the inevitable decline in work ethic.

c'mon, don't study too hard, some gaming is always nice in between :)
I remember during my studies, I would usually study 1 hour, then play for 2 hours and so on. My brother hated me for doing this, while he was studying the whole day. Living life according to the 80/20 principle helps a lot to play more games ;)

It isn't all studying, but there are too many nights when I get back from class all day and then just mess around in the dorms instead of doing work. I then make up for that in times that used to be reserved for civ playing.

Good to see Sullla, Sirian, Arathorn, LK, and Gothmog (back from the dead). I need to get a new CD drive in the next few weeks before the game comes out because mine died, but that small problem aside, I look forward to RBCiv, LK, and LotR games.

Has anyone heard from Charis lately? Will he be coming back? How about T-Hawk, Urugharakh, or Sirp?
There are a few other old-timers lurking around in the wings as well, that I expect will show their faces for Civ4. I bowed out of Civ3 before we had the chance to play many games together (never having gotten any of the expansions -- I stopped after vanilla Civ3 was done) but I did play a couple with everyone on your list except Sirp and Gothmog, IIRC. I'll probably be back, pending some reviews & word-of-mouth, and looking at a couple games. Or maybe I'll jump right in, but I kinda doubt it. I'd like to get a warm fuzzy about the amount of micromanagement required from some experienced players before I jump in, since all the micro was what drove me away in the first place & convinced me the expansions were not going in a direction I wanted to go in.

Hey Zed...sorry to overlook you! Though I played at this great site for a long time, you were here even before me. I didn't really start playing here until PTW. I was over at the other site for Vanilla. Though I never had the privilege of playing with you, I know I read several of your games. I look forward to crossing paths with you in Civ4! Buy it when it comes out; it's sure to be great from a some sources I trust wholeheartedly!

I found out that Charis is off building the Cure For Cancer. (Seriously!)

I'm not sure he'll have the time to spare to do any gaming. If we haven't heard from him by Christmas, though, either Griselda or I will contact him.
