SGOTM 01 - Rat Pack

I have not looked at other threads, thus can still play...
Me neither.I'm also not someone who will join SGs where everyone plays
the same turns and move on with the best save.
Every decision creates a different outcome.

But the score graphs puzzled my brains.
We had stone, but didn't build enough wonders which had a discount
on it.Also we killed a 100% trading partner.Catherine favors the hereditery
rule + we shared her religion,so she was no threat.

ok, I am going to take this now and play 10 turns

Pre-Turn
wow, we got a ton of money, thus increase lux to 40%

1. 1831AD
move to Vilcabamba

2. 1832AD
take Vilca without losses, move on to Machu Picchu
America lands in India

3. 1833AD
well, the Americans can pillage a little, but that's about it
we move on to take out Huayna

4. 1834AD
zzz

5. 1835AD
arrive at Cori, defended by 3 infantry
arrive at Machu as well, Roosevelt must be suffering since research drops to 11 turns
realize he just revolted

6. 1836AD
bomb Cori, odds are bad enough we need defense at zero to stand a chance
computer crashes, reload
take out Machu at some losses

plastics now in 3
ask Roosevelt to attack Ollan so we can get rid of Huayna soon

7. 1837AD
attack Cori, lose 2 arty, but defeat 1 inf with 3rd
3 remaining units defeat 2 inf and we own the city

Huayna has 2 cities left now

8. 1828AD
zzz

9. 1839AD
start bombarding the last 2 cities, but reinforments will take a while

10. 1840AD
slowly moving towards the last 2 cities
decide to play some extra turns to take them out
in 1844AD succeed to take the last Incan city and we should be much better with WW next turn

I have started but slowly to get units south.
We have now 55.89% of the land and with border expansion we might get 60%, but that's not enough
we need to either fight Gandhi or Cyru

Roster
acidsatyr - MIA
knupp - still interested?
TheRat - just played
Till - up
Tatran
Greebley

I'm glad to hear about our progress, but i have to ask for a skip. My main harddisc went the way of the dodo and my remaining one is faily small. I'll have to see if i can squeze Civ4 on it.

Alright. If everyone agrees then let's conceede the the mighty AI. :)

If by some off chance you guys continue this I will be out of town until next Sunday.

Yeah I'm still interested. As I said I was out of town. I haven't read through all the progress you guys made so I'll check that out.

we will be able to finish this fairly soon I think. Once the whole Incan Island is claimed, we should have more than 60%.

The Indian city across the strait is lightly defended, we could take it first and maybe get some amphibious attacks and carve out a part of his land for domination.

America has been less than helpful during my turns. The landing in India was pretty futile. (he is only good to help research).

(1) 1845 Lower Lux by 20%. Start organizing a strike to take out Salidin and Gandhi. We own 57.33% of the land.

(2) 1846 Capture Basra killing Salidin once and for all.

(4) 1848 Good news for us. Roosevelt completes the Pentagon and due to the permanent alliance we share the affects of the wonder. :D Plus....Roosevelt gets a golden age the same turn! :woohoo:

Gandhi moves a transport with three infantry and a settler on it right next to my destroyer, even though he knew it was there. Kill that.

We are up to 58.33% of the land.

(5) 1949 Capture Tarsus.

(6) 1850 Up to 60.78% of the land.

(10) 1854 Moving a stack towards Susa. We are up to 62.78% of the land.

(11) 1855 Susa should fall within the next couple of turns. Then we will have to put that army on transports to finish off Gandhi since a mountain range blocks our way.

You might as well finish out the game Tatran. It is really close now.

I was hoping Pentagon would help us when Washington started it. I knew the pyramids helped if allied.

I dub permanant alliances as the civ4 equivalent of "the great library capture" of civ3.

I don't know how anybody could lose if they are in a permanenet alliance, unless two other players are also in one. It is a 99% guaranteed win (ai could build spaceship but not likely because you will be ahead in tech).

I don't know how anybody could lose if they are in a permanent alliance,
I lost my first emperor game this way.(only 1 turn to go. )
Those space ship parts become much more expensive to build
when you're in a permanent alliance.

Ok,I'll finish this game.so everyone can focus on and upgrade to the Warlords expansion pack.

there is no hurry as I won't get that expansion for a while. Not only will they not sell it here for a while (my guess), but I am also waiting this time round.
Once burnt, twice... and honestly I am having my real issues of replayability of Civ4. All games seem to follow the same pattern...

The End

Pre-turn
Knupp didn't mention anything about Gandhi having gunships.
Our stack near Susa is very vulnerable without SAMs.
Research 0%.Need money to upgrade to SAMs.

IBT 1855 AD
Gandhi's gunships attack Tarsus lost our defenders there.
Gandhi lost 2 gunships. The city is still ours.

1856 AD
Reinforce Tarsus.

IBT 1856 AD
Gandhi lost another gunship.

1857 AD
Lost a marine on the attack at Susa. All other defenders were killed.
Susa is ours.

IBT 1857 AD
Lost a SAM.

IBT 1858 AD
Destroyed artillery,but lost a gunship.

IBT 1859 AD
Lost 3 tanks in Susa.

1860 AD
Capture the island cities Hyderabad and Andahuaylas without any losses.
We have to wait until those 3 cities get out of resistance.

1862 AD
St. Petersburg finished Wall Street.

1863 AD
Radio is in.

1864 AD
Victory is ours.

Final notes.
We won the game, but lost the competition.
Let's hope we can avoid the wooden spoon.

Also civ4 is too complex for a simple SG.
Too many possibilities,too many choices.
You need to be flexible and carefully.
You'll need friends means also you'll have enemies.
Sometimes they're the good guys, sometimes they're the bad ones.
