Hrm, the workboat is heading towards Clams that are already being netted. Guess I'll save him in Giza for Vitcos' fish.

I am going to use the galleons to push some troops forward as we don't have a pressing need for them at this moment.

Our Golden Age is over. MT now due in 5 after dropping science to 60%...hmm, I can keep it at 5 by lowering science to 50% and culture to 10% (to deal with some unhappiness). I do so.

Vilcas bombarded some more.

Assault on Vilcas. Cat bombards to 3%. Cat suicides withdraws. Cat suicides, but doesn't damage the longbow. So I send in another cat, which withdraws but also fails to damage the longbow. I send in a Knight (has 62.8% odds, make offerings to the RNG God). Knight loses anyway :sad: ... however, that will hopefully clear the way to victory. Knight defeats Knight. Mace defeats Crossbow. Mace defeats Knight. Mace defeats Longbow. One troop left: Pike loses to Pike despite 65% odds! :cry: ... guess we'll have to take it next turn.

IT:

Enemy spotted near Vitcos ... it's HC's naval forces from Vilcas (2 galleons and 2 caravels) ... don't know if it's camping or running away :hmm:

Turn 5 -- 1565 AD

Moscow: Knight > Knight

Mace finishes off the Pike, Vilcas is ours. Troops are now heading towards Tiwanaku, which is guarded by a Mace, 2 longbows, and a catapult (last seen on the pigs).

One of the galleons is now parked on the fish outsize Giza, just in case HC sends his galleons to pillage.

IT:
HC decides the best defense is a good o-ffense, and one of his knights kills one of ours.

Turn 6 -- 1568 AD

Memphis: Mace > Pike
Giza: Cat > Cat

HC's boat stack has moved towards Pi-Ram ... not sure what he's doing with them.

I kill off the Knight that killed ours last turn.

I put a Galleon in Vilcas to move our healing troops forward after they're done healing.

Assault on Tiwanaku. Catapult suicides withdraws, actually does damage to the longbow. Mace defeats longbow. Mace loses to Mace (damn, I had good odds on that one). Knight defeats longbow. Knight defeats Cat. Longbow defeats severely wounded Mace, Tiwanaku is ours.

Some thoughts:
Gandhi loves us. We need to take care of HC asap so we can get the DP while he still loves us. After that, the PA.

Cities still ain't flipping, don't think any progress was made on that front (didn't expect much in 10 turns due to Epic speed).

Those boats are a pain in the ass. Short of suiciding galleons I don't know what to do about them.

I have a lot of dudes healing, get them moving forward as soon as they can.

Cavalry are lightyears beyond what HC has. The more the merrier.

Heh, I just noticed this: Tiwanaku is two holy cities and it has both shrines! Nice! :)

Other notes:
Double-checked the save. Looks like HC no longer has access to horses (unless he's trading for them--forgot to check). I did send workers over to get our new cities roaded. HC has 5 cities left, Cuzco should fall soon, the others should topple like dominoes before the Cavalry. FINISH HIM!
 
One More Thing(tm):

Whoever finishes off HC, I think we should stop that turn (whether you've played 10 or 2) and discuss how to go forward as a team. Right now it's pretty automatic: destroy HC. But how we want to proceed after that is still not clear.
 
I was looking at the save ... yes, Tiwanaku is a a double holy city with both shrines in.

When Cuzco falls, HC will lose the Chicken wonder ... meaning his defenses in remaining city should fall ...

When we eliminate Incans, we would also gain monopoly on spices to help with our happiness issues.

Nah, I think I need more than 1 hour to play ... and now is already 11:30pm ... will save this for tomorrow.

We are currently at 17.78% land and 23.76% pop. I estimate when we conquered all of Incans, we should be at around 30% land and 35% pop. Gandhi should have 12% of land and 15% of pop, so assuming a PA we would have a combined 42% land and 50% pop. We still need to take out Saladin and even maybe Roosy ...
 
Just a bit of a broken record here, esp since you didn't raize any cites, but we need to be sure we don't let other AIs settle HC's continent. Keep it for ourselves.

Great progress on the pounding of HC by the way, and I agree that we need to pause with the destruction of HC. BTW, does he have any cities off continent?


I'm guessing that when an AI is in war mode, that their choices are skewed to military development and not infrastructure. So that would mean that the longer we put off invading, the more behind us he'd be. Minimal advantage of course, but that would explain his much lesser nationhood..

That's why I'm keeping them all. There's a bit of an empty space in the center of the continent that HC didn't settle that we need to keep an eye on after taking the surrounding cities ... but if anyone settles there they'd be culturally overwhelmed.

None that I saw on FDR's map. However, after our Caravel heals, we may want it to keep an eye on HC's east coast cities.

The RNG works in mysterious ways ... if we had taken Vilcas that first turn, all four of HC's ships would now be at the bottom of the ocean ... but then she grants me the bounty of a poorly-defended city I could reach in one move.
 
I had a bit longer look at the save...

We are currently at 40% science and 10% Culture and Losing 18GPT, our military currently is costing 'only' 11 gpt. Therefor if we were not at war, we could not sustain a 50% science rate.

Capturing all of HC's cities will make it only worse... I suggest doing one more round of units on our continent, then dropping Theocracy for OR so we can get our economy back up a little...
A lot of our "home" cities dont have Grocers or Markets + some dont have Courthouses. Some dont have either a Grocer or a Market, that is 50% money we are 'losing' an easy 10gpt (Pi Rammeses for example)

Talking about Pi Rammeses, we should lay of the whip there for a bit... 45 turns for the whip to fade there is just way overdone I think....

About HC country, Huamanga and Machu Picchu are terribly placed...

I would raze both If not for the fact that Macho Picchu is a holy city which hopefully will have a shrine as well...
Huamanga on the other hand seems to be a size 6 money drain to us... It will never grow beyond size 7 and is worth nothing. Even looking up close at it....

It doesnt seem to have anything but for a lighthouse and it is build on the only patch of grass in that land..... I suggest Razing that (and only that ugly thing) and rebuilding that on the tip of the lands... That is 1SE-1S of its current position. It opens up some dessert inland for an AI to possibly settle... But who cares about a dessert tile or 2? Or is this really worth keeping for some reason?

Also we should spread these 3!!! Religions to us like crazy... 3!! Man thats crazy ;)

P.S. I betya that GreyFox cannot finish HC in his turnset ... :)
