SGOTM 01 - V Q

Ha! I think we did pretty well given the choices we made. I didn't see any major missteps once a direction was chosen.

For instance Pyramids: knowing the size of the map, count, disposition of AIs, and general layout.... yes Pyramids at the start was a lesser choice. However if we were on a huge map where HC was on the exact opposite side of the earth... well Pyramids might have been the right choice. We went for it, and knowing no better - still won in the end.

Looks to me as if you are using the wrong upload page. The page you are using is complaining that you are submitting a Civ4 file and it's expecting a Civ3 file. Try the Submit C-IV SGOTM page instead?

BTW, you will not see your final save appear in the results or on the graphs, because we suppress the final save to try to limit the poiler information available to other teams. You'll have to post the link here for other team members to get to it.
I am uploading on a different page... on the GOTM page I choose Submit SGOTM (not Submit CIV3 SGOTM) so appearently that link is broken?

Edit: Oh wait they are all C3 :)

I had to go back to an autosave to get the pre-win save. So there should be 1 reload more on the pre-win than on the real win.

Pre win save (Just press enter)

Here we allready won...

I think you can use either to record your HOF...

Gentlemen ... Congratulations!

 Applause, Applause! Great :yeah:!

I really did enjoy lurking :).

@eektor: Did I see you 'talking' about a glorious 4:2 result in soccer? :dubious:

@dot  Yeah, I always enjoy watching germany. They are one of my favorite teams.

Edit: BTW if we keep this thread going, the only people who know we won would be Team One :)

Yeah, that's an issue. I want to post in Team One's thread, but then everybody will be like: oh, chrth is posting in there VQ must be done.

We took a break to watch the World Cup? :mischief:

But yeah sooner or later it will be obvious.

It might all be a matter of scale. We're so far out at the end that the graph can easily be misread. Plus folks are probably using the filter functionality to bring the end date down to a level that makes sense to them.

Unless they care about the Wooden Spoon, though, they're not going to pay us any mind.

Congratulations guys well done.......

Lurker comment here. I was wondering why at the very end, you didn't accept Cyrus' favorite religion? The bonus from that would've let you win on the first vote, instead of having to drag it out another 10 turns or so. FDR would've still been happier with you than Ghandi, and Cyrus would've been very happy, and voted for you.

Without looking at the save, going to Cyrus' religion would've cost us at least 3 relationship points (the +2 for same religion as well as a -1 for a different faith) with FDR, which may have stopped FDR voting for us.

For Diplo Victory, you have to have a certain score in your relationship, it's not just enough that FDR likes us more than Gandhi.

Thanks, Harok!

@LordK:

I think our mistake was not building more "Naras" when we decided to go the diplomatic route, instead of the religion pickings. If we had done that, then perhaps we would have win on the first vote ... but that's make no different ... it will only hurt our Wooden Spoon quest ... :D

Some nice work in the Chaos thread!

Astronomy is needed before Huayana we fix.
After Metal Casting, Machinery, and Optics.
In addition, Civil Service and Construction
are needed for units intent on destruction.

The Persians are closer and overdue
to see our Egyptian kung fu!
Trade Compass for Drama to aid
in making war weariness fade.

Metal Casting will further improve
our sizeable production groove.
Construction will start the chain
of catapults, Cyrus's bane.

On research, Huayana is ahead.
He could invade us instead.
The northeast must be strongly defended.
We cannot get overextended.

Yeah, that guy is good at making poems.

ChrTh, you were right. I've seen threads with like 3 days that gone by and the next post is a bump or is asking why it hasn't been played yet.
