Live 4ever! Or die trying
Sorry - I will definitely need a skip on this.
Compromise said:Good work, Oso. I've taken a quick look at the save. Here are my thoughts.
Forests are not a very good tile to work. Unless it's for production and for the very short term, you're usually better off working cottages or something. We are working a lot of forests: Santiago, Barcelona, Madrid, Numidian, Kagoshima, Ningoya, Izumo. Some of these have workers nearby, so the forest working is temporary, but feel free to whip in cities that are working forests.
Some specific city comments: Satsuma could probably run an engineer. Numidian should probably work its seafood. Nara is building a barracks, but it looks like it should be a commerce city and should be building/working cottages. Nagasaki needs to work its iron mine after its upcoming border pop. Yokohama could mine a nearby hill to make its lighthouse more quickly. Shimonoseki needs culture (ah, I see the missionary en route, good!) and could chop a couple forests to speed its lighthouse
Also, we probably have a couple troops outside our cultural borders on the continent. We could pull those inside to save a couple gpt on supply costs.
As for our tech plan. We're now going for chemistry, but I think we should probably switch. Education would let us build universities and help us tech more quickly. And Economics (after that) would give us a good reason to switch civics. I think we should go to Hereditary Rule, Bureaucracy and Free Market (when we get Economics). This will take 3 revolution turns if we do it after Economics or 3 turns (for HR and Bur) now plus 2 turns (for FM) if we switch some now. I'm not sure if bureacracy is worth 2 extra turns of anarchy. Maybe the next person can make a judgment call and we'll all stick to it.
So far, it doesn't look like anyone is itching to go to war. I think we're at the point where we need to get some basic defenses up while we tech as fast as we can. We'll probably want to (tech) bribe someone into war, then wait a bit, then join in with the winning side.
I do think Oso is right. We need to slow down the AI tech pace. The only thing I can think of is starting wars. Preferably between the AIs.
Compromise said:I think we're back to the top of the order:
Roster
regoarrarr - UP
BeefontheBone - On deck
Kodii - hoping Compromise doesn't steal his turns again
Compromise - turnstealing bastard
ruff_hi - skipped per request
Snaproll - MIA (retired?)
Zalson - retired
EL_OSO - just ran
I'm thinking we want to wrap this up as quickly as possible. We should expect the deadline to be the end of November. If you need a skip or want to retire, post as quickly as reasonably possible.
Conquest here will be an uphill battle. Usually, my games are quite decided by this point. It's been a long time since I've tried to wage a cross-continental assault with advanced troops. Should be interesting....
If I'm not mistaken, our only victory choice is conquest.EL_OSO said:Are we trying for a space race or domination?
