SGOTM 05 - Mac Team

i just load the mod with the save

i would go but i have issues

as far as wheel we can't be more then a few turns from it anyway so go ahead and grab it

and i would whip the settler if pop is 3-4 but thats me

also would be good to look who has a army of barbs on there front porch and maybe redeclare on them so they can't get too far ahead because of all the peace

You're right, if we can whip the settler we should, I didn't think of that.

Go ahead with re-declaration as you see fit.

Are you going to play, a_man?

Obviously, I somehow managed to read a_man's message as saying he was going to play, when just the opposite was true. Don't know how I did that. I will try to play tonight or tomorrow morning.

a_man, try putting the mod in the Mods folder of the Civ application folder, and then edit the Civ.ini file in the civ folder under your home folder.

i will give it a try (the ini file ) tomarrow it is friday night

other then that if we can build a galley in the second or first city before starting the pyrimids/stonehenge (if we have sailing) so as to explore the other ways to neibors.

I downloaded the save and tried it a_man's way, and it worked, so maybe that's not the problem. I didn't do anything except look around, though. So a_man, go ahead and give it another shot, and if you can't get it to work, let us know and I'll play a round over the weekend.

Couple things I noticed: We still can't see much of Alex's land; maybe his main island is too small. We might want to think about redeclaring war on him. Also, Cyrus has several cities is #1 in score and we are at peace...maybe that should change. There are a good number of barbs near him.

Delhi is on a hill, protected by a lone archer, but with CG3. Must be a lot of barb corpses around that city.

I wouldn't worry about exploring the other islands too much yet. As more barbs spawn, they will explore for us. I think we need to concentrate on the wonders that we think are critical.

A workboat is cheaper than a galley.

But I don't think we should risk delaying either wonders for the benefit of exploring coasts that the barbs may uncover for us eventually :D

edit: xpost with dr_s ;)

well the opritve word ther eis eventually for a chariot rush or most of our other plans we have to be on main land asap and the chances are barbs will only explore to the coast and there galleys will stick to the coast as well and what we needed is a path. but hey we do need the wonders too

Got it to work playing my turns now

o and now that i saw what we're working with we can live without the boats

ok done

how do you make screen shots

I use <shift-apple-3> for screen shots, to desktop. I then use <shift-apple-4> to drag a picture box around something specific. In some games, like Civ3, you can use <shift-apple-4> in-game, but others are buggy.

to willpax::seems to me it should be so go ahead and play

all::
i forgot to say that the hut the second city is next to popped us a warrior who is fortified in that city

and i ended up chopping the settler so w are still at pop 3 for pyr.

willpax, it is your turn. Since you haven't particpated in the discussion much, can you summarize your plans before you play? I'll take a look at the save when I get a chance and give my $0.02.

Took a quick look at the save. Couple of comments.

I don't understand the placement of the second city---it misses the clams and the rice! If people are going to settle cities at sites with no food, please discuss it before you do it! I think we need to come to some agreement on city sites.

The worker should get down there and improve the stone ASAP. Also, I think that second city should work the stone tile (more hammers) rather than the current tile.

The scout should go out west to fog bust so the barbs don't settle a city over there.

i'm sorry about that i thought we said to settle for the stone and gold
but ill be sure to get more imput next time

the worker is also conecting the two so as soon as we get stone it in both but i guess that getting it there first would supply it a little faster

and the scout is on his way there i had him fogbust the city site to stop the barbs from setting up there

From looking @ the save, my only concern is production is tied up in wonders for each city. Having a second worker would be nice.

That's true, but there's still not much for the workers to do, other than chop and build roads. By the time a second worker came out, what would he do? The second city is going to be growing very slowly, so there's not much need to improve tiles there.

I was hoping to look over the save and post a plan for my turn, but the link about reverts to a text file that I can't convert, even after I change the file extension. And the maintenance page still has 1900 bc as the last uploaded save. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I might deal with this?

The last Mac Team save on the server is Dojo's 1900 BC save uploaded on 21 August. There's no point in downloading that file.

a_man didn't upload his save to the server, he just attached it to his post #170 above. PLEASE follow the instructions to play this game!

[UPDATE] I've now uploaded a_man's file to the server. See post #170 above for details.[/UPDATE]
