SGOTM 09 - Xteam

Not sure, but I think I did at someone's suggestion, so it's probably in the thread. Of course, you'd need a search engine to find it in our thread.
Found this in the thread.

Then there is this post. Doesn't mention gifting of Steam Power? :scan:

And this post to close out the set. CP, you may have gifted SP, but I seem to be missing where it was written? ;)

EDIT - My impression is that CP did give it to Justinian, but I'm not entirely sure. :hmm:

I'll resume tonight. Here's a turn report for the turns I played:

Turn report for T134-T137

T134) Start a golden age with a GS
Capture Dur-Kur, with a forge and 4 workers. Hammy is no more.
Found Mining Inc in Akkad
Found Sushi in Babylon
Cancel copper gift to Justinian. Other deals can't be canceled yet.
Give Justinian Guilds, Inchon, and Pyongsong
Put all EPs on Shaka because Stalin has spent too much on espionage.

IBT) Shaka gets a GS and has 150 gold to trade

T135) Found Eretria to grab corn and gold
Jewish mission fails at Cuzco
Sell Theology to Shaka for 150 gold and map
Sell Banking to Justinian for 20 gold and map
Cancel iron-horse deal with Justinian and replace with a sheep-horse deal
Jump 5 paras next to Seoul and land 3 at Pyongyang

IBT) AssLine->Combustion
Get 395 gold from National Epic prebuilds

T136) Another Jewish mission fails at Cuzco
After hooking gold, give Eretria to Justinian. Take Justinian's gold.
Capture Pyongyang without loss. I then unload two galleons of paratroopers directly into Pyongyang and am able to paradrop the same turn. Kill 5 Korean units in Seoul.
GG is born in Argos. I put him to sleep there in case we get Military Science and want to build a military academy.

IBT) Shaka/HC declare war on Korea after a successful AP resolution

T137) Capture Seoul with granary, forge, market, Ankor, and Notre Dame
Capture Nampo with granary, lighthouse

Good Luck SCT!

Please keep an eye on Stalin. He is pleased with Shaka and, should he decide to declare, there is a Spear of his wandering down by the city west of Cuzco, which is garrisoned by one of our Chariots.

Good Hunting.

Turn report for T137-T141

T137) (continued)
Gift Justinian steel (yes, he can research Railroad, so he must have SP)
Get Justinian's sugar
Switch Knossos to courthouse

IBT) Taj completed in Sparta (now sitting on 15 turns of golden age)
Artist born in Babylon.

T138) Attack Pusan and Cheju with no losses. 1 unit left in each city.
Cancel spices and dyes from Shaka since we have our own source
Spread Mining Inc to Pharsalos and start Mining rep there
Start Wall Street in Akkad
I see that Shaka's power is about 40% of ours

IBT) Seoul's granary is destroyed by a spy
Combustion->Industrialism

T139) Cheju captured with a granary
Pusan captured with a granary
Mining Inc spread to Cuzco, now building the Forbidden Palace
Mining Inc rep fails at Corinth
Build Pergamon near gold and gift to Justinian (needs a worker)
Sell Shaka Banking for 60 gold and map, and declare war on him
Amphibious attack a lightly defended Zulu city (isiPhezi) on the coast, killing the 4 defenders
Gift the city to Justinian
Unload all units into isiPhezi and jump 4 next to kwaD
Trade wine to Stalin for silk
We are getting massive unhappiness in our Incan cities because of the new war with Shaka/HC. We need to kill HC ASAP.

T140) Taejon captured and given to Justinian
Jewish mission finally succeeds at Cuzco
Build Miletos near iron/coal and give to Justinian
Switch Rushmore to Nippur
Airlift GG to Korean territory to get some XPs to units that need them

IBT) Stalin captures Wang's last city. War weariness should go down soon
Great Scientist born in Babylon. Switch all scientists to merchants

T141) Capture Incan Vilcas and give to Justinian
Capture Zulu kwaDuzuka and 3 workers
Spread Mining Inc to Corinth and Delphi
A lot of units are still unmoved

PaulisKhan - moving to a land far, far away... :mischief:
Grover22 - Ticking up the participation!
rrau - How are you doing? :dunno:
DJMGator13 - :scan:

Only roster question I have is whether PK's schedule will allow him to take a set after Fred or should they switch? Up to you guys??

Some thoughts on the next turnset:

1) We should give strong consideration to building Ironworks in Athens now instead of Seoul. With forge-factory-plant-lab, Seoul can still chop an engine in 2 turns, and Athens could build the other in 2-3 turns by managing overflow correctly and changing tile improvements at the end. Ironworks in Athens now will shave a couple turns off 3GD and give us more cash overflow on Mining reps.

2) We have 10+ workers in Korean territory. They're main task should be building rails over any tile that will be converted to lumbermill, specifically Seoul's forests. Then when Seoul comes out of revolt, convert forests to lumbermills and use chariots/buildings for happiness. If there is time, prebuild workshops over the lumbermills. Seoul needs factory, coal plant, observatory, and lab.

3) Spam Mining Inc as fast as possible and acquire more resources. Spread Sushi to Sippar so it can work 6 more plains workshops.

4) We have 12 paratroopers in Africa, 24 in Asia, and 1 in Australia. We can attack Stalin and Shaka simultaneously. 12 paratroopers is a bit light in Africa. We either need to send a force from Asia through the Middle East to attack Shaka from the northeast (maybe capture Smolensk on the way), or build a few more paratroopers at home and airlift them into Africa.

5) I got that barb city in Australia from 3 defenders down to 1, and then another showed up. I killed another defender, but now the para needs several turns to heal. If another defender shows up, we might want one more para. While we're waiting, we could move the settler in Athens toward Australia by galleon.

6) HC needs to be destroyed or our Incan cities are going to have constant unhappiness.

7) We'll probably have to self research Divine Right if we want to build Versailles.

Pauliskhan is forced to stand down from the deck. Assuming my work visa comes through I'll be moving in less than a week.
I've changed the roster.

Don't know if there is time for you, but I can slot you ahead of Fred if you wish to play one more set? I'm sure you have plenty to do, but offer it if you wish? :)

EDIT - I see we got our Great Scientist!
Time to found Std. Ethanol in Akkad?

Good luck and keep in touch, PK. (Pleased to know another Bill Watterson fan. Gave my son the three volume bound edition for his 23rd birthday. He would read C&H but almost nothing else as a child.)

Isn't it more convenient to build the Stasis Chamber last? Corinth has more base hammers than Athens (or will have when the WW goes away). IW there will bring more hammers in total but probably less in the last few turns because Athens could be altered radically (Given that we can spare the worker turns). Which is more important?

I will post a plan sometime during the weekend and then play in the beginning of next week. I guess we are still on schedule to finish before 27th of July assuming that we have 40 turns left in the game.

Yes, Genetics-Ecology would be the last two techs. Engines are the most expensive parts considering they get no resource bonus. Stasis Chamber also needs to be planned carefully at the end. Life support can be chopped somewhere one turn before all the other remaining parts finish. It will only take 7-8 forests so it could be built in any city with some forests.

I was thinking IW in Athens because it would allow us to build 3GD faster and bring more hammers to all cities on the home continent. 3GD can only be built on a river.
