SGOTM 11 Maintenance Thread

3) About noaipatrol=0, I started my COTM game without this setting. (First time here about it.) If I set it now will it be OK to continue the game that startet without it? What actually this setting mean? I did not notice special behavior of Barbs in my game. They try to kill me as usual...
Read this for more detail; without noaipatrol=0, the barbs just sit there fortified if they have nothing better to do, while with it, they'll move randomly. It would be fine to continue your COTM after setting it.

Edit: It took me a while to notice the crosspost. :crazyeye:

I've added the current team list to the first post in this thread. That list will be the basis for the team names and rosters to be published when the game goes live at midnight tonight.

The team names are now fixed, as they, or shortened versions, are now forged into the start files. If there are future team personnel changes they will be reflected in the Progress and Results page, and I'll try to maintain the post #1 list up to date as well.

Game on :)

Your saves are available. Have a good game, guys

Thanks to you, Gyathaar and the Staff for another adventure in Civ!!
:woohoo: :high5:

ok NOOOb question coming up.

When you talk about the winner being the first team to get a domination victory, do you mean.....

A. First as in amount of time taken. E.g. 31 days or 3 weeks or whatever.

OR

B. First as in game date. e.g. 1270AD

Game date. Noob questions are allowed here. :)

What scoutsout said. This is not a competition to see how fast you can play.

Gosh ! Our only chance at the laurels went to smoke :gripe:

I wonder what would happen if this actually had a completion date to finish this by. Would it force some people to rush and make stupid mistakes that they might now normally make? Perhaps this could be an experiment for the next SGOTM. ;)

It would make for IA or even modern age finishes within 11-12AM on the release date ;)

@AlanH
I was wondering why the Progress Page said we had 3 visitor posts... well we have socralynnek on our Team (Newbie), not socralynnec! ;)

Question: Can players that are not playing a particular turn set upload the save to check out the state of play (so long as they don't actually make any moves)? Is this against the rules?

If you are not the current player on your team, you can download the save to look, but don't touch. You can open adviser or city screens, view the map, load it up in CivAssist, do whatever you want to see the *current* situation. But you must make no unit moves, no diplo deals, no espionage missions, no city builds, no war declarations - in other words, no irreversible changes of any kind that would provide more information than is available at the point when the save was created.

I had a dream that I was reading the other teams' threads. I woke up really upset that I would have to withdraw from the competition! After about five minutes my brain finished loading up, and I realised that I had in fact been asleep, and not on the forums (well I hope there's no such thing as sleep-surfing?) Other give-aways included the fact that team klarius had a 19th century steam train running back and forth through their empire, in a not-really-turn-based kind of way. :crazyeye:

edit: apologies for the spam ;)

Paragraph 11b in the list of ways you know when you've been playing too much Civ

Paragraph 11c

"Mentioning Paragraph 11b"

I'm wondering about spoiler threads. Is there some sort of pre-determined date that they come out or is it just a "play by ear" type of scenario, where you decide that most teams have gotten far enough, and can create one?

I play it by ear ... but I may be tone deaf :p
