my opinion, ..., maybe just a nonsense: :)
lean slightly towards max write,
Write:
we will sure don't get write monopoly.(china like it very much in some environment). but we are likely to get Philosophy first, since the india and Egpty as AIs, we have some chance to exchange myst with write, and poly with Philosophy,so ...
Mansony:
the france, korea likes to research math, so In this game maybe we can't get Math monopoly.though the catapults is so powerful..., and IIRC, the korea likes currency very much.
Myst:
we only want wheel to see whether horse nearby currently, and can't exchange IW with Myst. :(
even there is horse on our peninsula, maybe we don't need it within 24 turns?(maybe 20 turns).
and without embassies, does it too early for drifting into war?

edit:
does this is a non-goody-hut map?

What has Ulundi produced? A worker? How long till the moo is irrigated? If we set science and lux to zero what is our max gpt? If we use 8gpt to buy mysticism, what happens to happiness and how much gpt do we have left over?

I was definately leaning towards writing myself for the reasons Archphoenix gives. Although we can also afford the Mysticism trade but it would be tight and would basically stop research until the debt was paid. We are currently pulling 9-13 commerce per turn depending on tiles worked (all bar 1gpt of which goes into science) at the moment. We will need additional cash for lux tax and maintainance as we expand but this will be covered by additional trade earned.

In terms of Ulunid I will post a full turn log and yes, after much deliberation, I switched the build from a scout to a worker. I did this because Ulundi did not have a 2 food tile to work when it got to size 2 and also because we have a lot of worker jobs to do. My view is that it is always good to have enough workers so that you never work unimproved tiles.

I did find a hut (just popped this turn after discovering alphabet) but was disappointed to get only a map of the local area.

I agree we should go for writing too, if only so you spell definitely correctly the next time! Don't worry team - Wardancer and I are friends (in RL) really, it's just healthy banter.

Mmm, I think the Mysticism trade is too all-or-nothing, and also distracts us from the plan we have been leaning towards so far (that we scam some techs from the AI for temporary gpt while setting the blocs against each other).
The choice between Maths and Writing is a close one though. Although there are civs who might research Maths, I think we have an outside chance at monopoly on it, followed by a virtually certain monopoly on Currency.
But in the end I vote for [br]Writing[/b]. I am eager to see what these blocs are doing about each other, and they sound weak enough that we can start the world war whenever we feel ready.

Getting a Monarchy slingshot would be quite a steal! If we can get it, should we switch to Monarchy? (I say yes absolutely). If no Polytheism but someone has done Laws, and we can slingshot to Republic, do we switch to that government? (I say yes possibly).

With regards to starting these wars off, when should we do it? After Philosophy? The trouble is that we won't have any cash between now and then, and we will need a little to set up an embassy or two. Also, to make the most of the tech-for-gpt gag, we will need as many citizens as possible (max temporary empire gpt is roughly equal to 2 x (citizens + towns)).
And how should we do it? Well, just dowing civ X won't bring his friends in too. We need to take offensive action to do that. Pillaging an improvement with a scout sounds like the easiest option.

Very good, although you don't get any Jason points for correct grammer.

Ok, we seem to have a majority in favour of writing so I shall continue the turn set on that basis.

Well I don't know about that, since I'm not really sure what "grammer" is. Grammar I do understand, but you'll have to tell me what grammer is.

Ah, so many jobs for so few workers, and more workers on the ground means less pop in the towns for the gpt deals :(.
We also need to get the Great East Road underway: east from Zimbabwe, probably passing through some new towns as it goes, and then turning north into the isthmus. Where we choose to make our stand depends on how strong the AI look by that time: if we expect to encounter some actual resistance, then we should fight defensively for a while, at the southern end of the isthmus where our lines of reinforcement are short. On the other hand, if they are still looking feeble, we can set up a staging post at the north end of the isthmus and go raiding; capturing or razing towns on the continent.

I'm going to claim that I deliberately misspelled the word in an attempt to be funny. :)

Lol, well I have now completed the turn set and uploaded.

Here is the detailed turn log for anyone that wants to review it but I will summarise it at a bit later today.

get save.
I have no technology on dotmap, so throw some advice please. and any other advices. the more the better.
and I will sleep first now... (23:20)

in later 10 turns or more, we need discuss something like these:
1.where to settler the 4th citys and 5th citys.
2.if some two or more learn write, do we buy then sell to others or just keep oure research?
3.when the chockpoint need military to block, considering of barbarian.

and I have no idea for these, ask for advice:
1.does the scout should enter AI territory,or carefully walk around?
2.WHEN the first wave babarian will appear, whether it's necessary defend EVERY citys then?
3.after Bapedi build barracks, do it focus onmilitary(archer or warrior) or worker?
and the 4th and 5th city focus on what too?
4.where is the dotmap tools, I can't find it in utility forums?

1) The first time you enter, they will ask you to leave. Just ignore them, and they will go away. ;) (like they do with a curragh).

2) The military advisor will tell you which city they are near; treat it like an AI invasion (ie no co-ordinated military strategy), and protect only those cities within danger.

3) I haven't got a save to examine so I cannot advise, but I would guess at a military build, else why build barracks?

4) As far as I know, there is no utility for this. Take a screenshot, then paste it in to a graphics program ('Paint' is OK if you are running Windows XP).
Then you just manually paint in the dots on the screenshot, save and upload.

@team: Sorry for the lack of input so far, I've had a really busy couple of weeks, but things are easing-up a bit now. If someone can point me in the direction of a save, I will attempt to put together a dotmap.
