SGOTM 12 - Fifth Element

Does it make sense for e.g. Fluro to play this first turnset, then have havr step in (so he has a few days to catch up), and then Blubmuz plays a tursnet?
I say we have a plan now with havr playing the next set, then me and blub taking the micro intensive ones next. (by intensive, I mean lots of little things to remember and little room for error, easiest if you played it like 20 times already like me :hmm:)

I agree. This seems like the most prudent plan.

Just to update, hopefully I will be able to test&play tomorrow.
I have something important at work tomorrow I needed to prepare for today, but tomorrow night should be OK (assuming my wife will give me time to play civ )

Go for it havr.

I'm enjoying the Fluro v BLubmuz arguements....but I dont have the time to play at the moment. (On business in London last week, on business in Peterborough (shame) this week, on business in Barcelona next week...PS. - Dont mention Carbon Footprint)

For info: - I picked up Civ V on Saturday morning...and it doesn't work on my coal fired laptop (even with extra RAM)....I'm now looking at a new Nuclear Powered laptop...but can I justify spending £800 to play a £25 game???

I should be back in a position to play a SGOTM12 turn set around about 12th October....Until then I'll try and keep up with what worker2 is doing to that cow.

Luckily, CiV runs on my antique desktop which is definitely below min specs. So I'm waiting for the Xmas sales before buying a new laptop. i3/i5/i7 should be a little less expensive by then too. Right now, most of the good sales are on the older procs with everyone trying to get rid of old inventory.

Here is what I summarized earlier:

-Worker to SE cows
-Build worker for 1T until fishing
-Switch to WB, research wheel after fishing
-Work the cow tile immediately when cleared of fallout
-Once SE cows are pastured, move the worker to the W cows
-Once the wb is done, resume building worker.
-When the worker is done, move to pasture W cows.
-Begin building a workboat after the worker
-End when the pasture is complete (when the city can work it, not when the workers are free to move!!)

And of course, whoever play this make sure to keep an eye on any announcements/AI activity.
t.

A few completions, based on the end-save-game:
After Wheel: Writing
WB to build net on W fish
After Worker: WB

BL - I have the events written down by turn, but as a principle I am not going to post them here so to not repeat SG11!

I will wait about 30 mins for maybe US/Australia guys to say something if they have.
Euro guys are probably sleeping so no use waiting for them. They knew I am going to play tonight and said it is OK.

Not much progress...

Did half a turn (just moved worker to SE cows) and got a message that everyone is willing to sign a peace treaty. Maybe you guys already knew that, but since it is new to me I figured it is best to stop and ask.

I think we should sign with everyone, except maybe stalin. I think it is important to have long term peace to get good relations going. Stalin is another issue as he might be wrost for others...

No one will actually sign one. Just keep playing.

Yes. The AIs will actually open the diplomacy, but not sign a peace treaty. Unless we want give them StPete once founded. Even Gandhi, who can have some tech for peace is not actually willing to sue for peace. Just ignore the messages.

In the first version of my test, where i not lose the 14 warriors for each AI, they would actually sign a peace treaty. Not in the latest test nor in the actual game, which should be the same.

Done & uploaded.

Everything went according to plan, and not much happened except that tank that came and destroyed Moscow. Just kidding... ;)

Here is the session log which tells all there is to tell:

Turn 19, 3240 BC: You have discovered Fishing!

Turn 24, 3040 BC: Churchill adopts Slavery!

Turn 25, 3000 BC: The borders of Moscow have expanded!

Turn 27, 2920 BC: You have discovered The Wheel!

Turn 30, 2800 BC: You have trained a Work Boat in Moscow. Work has now begun on a Worker.

Turn 34, 2640 BC: Hinduism has been founded in a distant land!

Turn 36, 2560 BC: Stalin the Despicable adopts Slavery!

Again, no news is good news

Notes:
-Gandhis techs showing are: Mysticism, Agriculture, Masonry, Archery
-What we also know he has: Alphabet, Meditation (he is buddhist), Polytheism (hindu founded, but noone else has converted)
-We know but he doesn't: Fishing, Wheel, Animal Husbandry
-He will not be bribed to peace by offering what we have.
-No AI have made contact with anyone yet.
-134:science: towards Writing, compared to 122:science: in the testgame. This is due to slightly different tech discounts.
-Demographics show that one AI has only 6000 in land, compared to our 16000. I am guessing that our friend Stalin is put on a small island with some big guns to play with. Kind of like Atlantis in SGOTM9?
-There is also an AI with only 1 production, but they all have more population than us, one MUCH more. Again, it fits with my "Atlantis" theory.
-CFC is not coping with the traffic too well

Again, no news is good news
I agree with all your statements.

@Havr
Boring but well done, i think. I'm catched by CiV, so not look at the save yet

Fluro, can you take in charge next TS? It would be nice, otherwise all the initial TSs are played by the old FE members. I think we can play some 18-20 turns each, to arrive few turns after the Oracle in my TS.

Sure, I'll get on the next one then. I'll try to find out how much gold we can save before library (needing to finish PH in time to begin Oracle is the constraint).
Aim to post PPP tomorrow.

Why don't you credit it to my superior gameplaying skills? ;-)
A good cook never tells all the secret ingredients.

CiV (demo) crashes on my laptop, although I do have a very good laptop :-( Core i5 should be strong enough... If demo crashes surely the full version will crash too.
Maybe there will be a patch that will fix it soon.
But now I feel I am left out of the party (although a lot of the party participants are encountering technical problems)

It can be the Demo.
I got an old (but good) Quad Duo and it's running smoothly. Only some graphics looks not optimal even if i'm running near the top of the options.
