SGOTM 12 - One Short Straw

Civics
Switch to the following civics on the final turn of our GA.

Representation
Nationhood
Slavery
State Property
Organized Religion
I think maybe we're agreeing on FM instead of SP, is that right?

Wall Street

Fish (note that base hammers goes from 35 to 24 when not in GA or running Castes)
- whip grocer for 1 pop on T196 –> 141/150 + 71 (whip) + 24 * 1.6 (forge + SP + OR bonus) = 250/150 -> 100 OF
- whip bank for 3 pop on T197 –> 47/200 + 71 * 3 + 100 OF + 24 * 1.6 = 398/200 -> 198 OF
- Wall Street for 1 turn on T198 to catch 198 OF + 24 * 1.6 = 236 hammers
- whip market for 1 pop on T199 –> 149/150 + 71 + 24 * 1.6 = 258/150 -> 108 OF
- WS is ~50% done by T200
Can someone please check my math???
I haven't had a chance to test this yet. I still prefer courthouse(T0) with maybe a poprush on it at some point, stuck in the back of the queue and then finished with overflow into the Sushi Exec #1, but that's all theoretical. I don't even know how far down you're planning to poprush the pop in Fish, as it is.

Churchill
The stack SW of Tours will fortify this turn. The 7.5/9 musket in Tours will be Combat 1 promoted and join the stack. All units to the N or NW of Tours will enter the city and fortify/heal. That mace on the hill could easily kill one of our CRIII mace there, so I don’t think it makes sense to heal this turn outside the city.
I agree with this, but I would modifiy it slightly. We can heal almost every unit this turn without moving them, promoting the units that can. The musket with the SW stack will be completely healed before Churchill can attack him next turn and have 5% fortification.

So the only units I would move are at Tours-N:
* Musket promotes to CI and moves W to protect that healing mini-stack.
* One treb goes to Tours-SW
* The other treb goes into Tours and upgrades to a cannon.

That should set up the rest of your plans quite well, I think.

Use the spy as bcool suggested, if you think you need some reconnaissance, then asap scout Oxford, trying to avoid being in Churchill's culture as much as possible at the end of turns.

I haven't worked through the logistics, but we now have 3 galleys in the Indian Ocean. We could likely take a city or three over here in the next 8 turns. This all depends on how much of our Marseilles army we send south and much we send west...
Beijing will be fine because you can see Churchill's 2-mvmt galleys coming from a mile away.

Send the three galleys immediately to Nanjing with one musket. From there you can collect units either from Tours or from Orleans as they become available.

Meanwhile steal workers liberally.

When the spy has told you what's in Oxford, go kill it no matter what. and as as soon as you have a couple cannons and attackers, or whatever you decide you need, go get a diploma... :mwaha:

------------------

Any cities that still need a forge and have plenty of population should probably poprush that first. It's likely to come at a cost of only 1 pop, when combined with how much pop it saves from the next poprush.

Great analysis! I am now changing my vote to Shanghai-Bermuda.

Watch out for the lb between Tours, Nanjing, and Hammer City.

Watch out for CHurchill galleys in the Indian Ocean.

At the beginning of each turn, check if CHurchill researched Engineering for +1 movement!

1. I agree on OR + FM.
2. I agree on FP in Shanghai, Versailles in Bermuda (after ConfuMIsses, bank).

I would prefer if you paused before closing Roosy's borders to protect Mao. If you solve the problem without closing borders (and without bribing Roosy to DoP Mao, which we don't want), I'm happy.

Good luck, Mitchum!!!

Addendum: OXFORD

1. The turn before you think you're going to attack Oxford, especially if the spy has told you there are no threatening triremes/galleys, position the galleys at Nanjing-W, loaded with their units. Then the next turn you can unload them at Oxford-SW, preventing any reinforcements from coming from elsewhere.

2. If you're warring on this front is going particularly well (Oxford+Newcastle), then you should absolutely begin building a settler for the Newcastle-3E site. That is prime turf and if you settle it during your turnset, I vote we call it Mitchum's Oasis!

Also, the forest at Nanjing can go into the some Hammer City build (whaever you're planning after the granary), so you might be able to poprush it also before the end of slavery.

Anyone konw how trading for sushi resources works? Are Ais willing to trade multiple items after we get SUshi, or what?

Wow, this turnset is really coming together. Thanks for all of the comments!!

Did we finally agree on what civics to run?:dance::band::banana::eekdance:

I have not changed the PPP since I initially posted it. It was posted when there were still a lot of open items in our discussion, but at least it gave us a baseline. If I do not respond to one of your comments directly, you can assume that it has been incorporated. I will update it now with all of your comments and re-post it (the PPP is just as much for me when I'm playing as it is to get comments from you).

If you come up with anything else between now and then, keep posting your ideas. I'll check back to the thread occasionally while I'm updating my PPP.

Now it's time to get to work on that PPP. :scan:

So long as they have a surplus, I don't see why not.
Edit: xpost

In my experience they will trade them provided they do not have a corporation that needs them.

Now that we're switching to FM, do we still want to push Moscow to generate our next GP? If we do, it will be at the expense of running hammer tiles, which will slow down our courthouse, executive and cannon builds there?

My vote is NOT to push for a great person from Moscow first since we no long NEED a great person to revolt into FM. Let the next GP come from Fish (I will still avoid scientists to try for a GM) and the one after that can come from Moscow.

Thoughts?

I agree. This also allows Pigs to start producing the next one even sooner. But still without hiring any scientists, so we maximize our odds, right?

So on Sushi, we should get a number of resources from both Gandhi and Roosy. With Roosy, we should grab them immediately and perhaps plan to spread Sushi to him ten turns later, after we redo those deals. But if we can spread it to him sooner, I think I'd go ahead and do that. That could even be toward the end of your turnset, Mitchum.

I agree with letting pigs produce our next GP, and with not running any scientists there. This will leave us free to hire scientists in the capital to hopefully provide the GS for our 3 GP golden age.

Does anyone mind if I revolt to Representation, Nationhood, Slavery, Free Market and Organized Religion with the real save right now? It would make planning my builds much easier because it would remove the 10% SP hammers and show the 25% OR hammers where we get them.

I think you should go ahead and do that.
