SGOTM 12 - One Short Straw

I would think CH trumps grocer.

Yes, I forgot about finishing the CH when I first ran through this. Then I added it at the last minute to the end. How does this look?

Fish (note that base hammers goes from 33 to 24 when not in GA or running Castes)

T195 -> courthouse -> 33*1.5 = 49/120
T196 -> courthouse -> 49 + 24 * 1.5 = 85/120
T197 -> whip market for 1 –> 149/150 + 67 (whip) + 24 * 1.5 (forge + OR bonus) = 252/150 -> 102 OF
T198 -> learn Medicine -> Sushi executive -> 102 + 24 * 1.25 = 132/100 -> 32 OF
T199 -> courthouse (no whip) -> 85/120 + 32 OF + 24 * 1.5 = 153/120 -> 33 OF
T199 -> whip grocer for 1 -> 141/150 + 67 + 33 OF + 24 * 1.5 = 277/150 -> 127 OF
T200 -> whip bank for 3 –> 47/200 + 67 * 3 + 127 OF + 20 * 1.5 = 405/200 -> 200 OF
T201 -> Wall Street -> 200 OF + 24 * 1.5 = 236 hammers -> WS is ~ 40% done by T201

courthouse is worth 20 gold at least. I think there might be overflow issues (getting too many hammers) with courthouse first though. xpost: Unless of course you don't whip it :)

I meant to just switch grocer and ch in your original plan. Bank asap is worth something, too.

Edit:
Does something like this work?
T195 -> courthouse -> 33*1.5 = 49/120
T196 -> courthouse -> 49 + 24 * 1.5 = 85/120
T197 -> whip market for 1 –> 149/150 + 67 (whip) + 24 * 1.5 (forge + OR bonus) = 252/150 -> 102 OF
T198 -> learn Medicine -> Sushi executive -> 102 + 24 * 1.25 = 132/100 -> 32 OF
T199 -> courthouse (whip for 1) -> 85/120 + 67 (whip) + 32 OF + 24 * 1.5 = 220/120 -> 100 OF
T199 -> whip bank for 3 -> 47/200 + 67 * 3 + 100 OF + 20 * 1.5 = 378/200 -> 178 OF
T200 -> Wall Street -> 178 OF + 24 * 1.5 = 214 hammers
T201 -> whip grocer w OF into WS

Edit2: Actually, scratch that. Your proposal above is better - bank 1t later, grocer 2t faster. But WS later...

Right. Since Wall Street will only be 40% finished at the end of this sequence, I think it wouldn't hurt to whip the ch, then build WS for a turn to collect that overflow, then do the others, or as bbp suggested. One more whip, as long as we don't turn the hammers into gold, is a good thing in this case.

can we steal the gold we need from Gandhi with the spy?

and rosey?

How much would we get at what cost?

sorry are we still trading horses to Gandhi?

I remembered that I noticed Churchill is getting iron from Gandhi so probably not...

OK, it's been moving around a bit. Have we settled on where to put FP and Versailles?

I think we have a consensus on:

Bermuda: Versailles
Shanghai: Forbidden Palace

That seems to be where bcool, mdy and I are.

@ LC Do you still want FP in Beijing?
@bbp I can't find your final vote...

FP in Shanghai is a go.

Gandhi has no horses from us or anyone right now.

Stealing gold is not worth much. It's connected to the city population, etc.

Code:
1.Stealing gold:

The amount of gold stolen is = (Target'sTotalGold * iStealTreasuryTypes / 100) * CityPopulation / Target'sTotalPopulation

Note: iStealTreasuryTypes is normally defined as 100

The mission cost is then = iCost * amountOfGoldStolen / 100
Note: iCost is normally defined as 300
Currently we can steal 7g from Galley City, 1g from Troy and 0g from Vlad...Merry Christmas!!! :)

TBH, I don't care. The numbers in LC's table seem very close, and don't take full extent of expansion into account (nor could we really estimate this). Shanghai/Bermuda is good.

I would prefer Orleans for FP. Doesn't Shanghai have a Intel Bureau and a lot of decent commerce tiles?

Orleans pop is more expendable and long term Orleans is better.

Exactly. In fact, I didn't bother with Roosy and Gandhi based on the principle the sooner the better, because we're trying to finish asap, and on the principle that later on Sushi + Mining shold have us running 100% research anyway.

This is a good argument. In fact, in this case, I would be willing to go with anyone who feels strongly about it, which seems to be bcool. I also agree that Orleans is better long term, because Roosy's land is hammer-rich and it would be easy to build our capital there. Of course, at 160h, it won't be too hard anywhere.

So why not do it in a city that has least profitable tiles... Orleans has to whip a courthouse, but should be able to put a lot of OF hammers into FP, then whip FP 2 turns after that.

OK, my PPP is finally updated... it took longer than anticipated. Thanks for all of the help!

Most changes are in RED for your ease of seeing what I changed. I'd like to start in about an hour.

The 10 units that attack should kill all of the spears and the healthiest axe. The stack will now consist of 6 barrage-wounded cats and 3 red-lined axes. The 2 muskets, mace, 2 cannons and archer should ensure that Orleans is safe.

stack kill of Churchill. I'm pretty sure siege units don't take collateral damage, so the muskets will be killing healthy catapults first I think.

I will NOT take Marseilles this turnset. I will leave 2 muskets at Marseilles 2W to keep an eye on the units there. Marseilles is only at pop 2 with only 1 hammer/turn, so he’s not going to be building up there very fast. I will also have a steady stream of cannons and muskets going by, so we can pretty much take the city any time we want.
There is a good chance the stack is going to retreat, as LC speculated earlier.

Keep espionage slider at 0% with all points directed at Roosevelt. Steal Corporations from either Troy or Vlad in 2 turns once we can see what he’s researching. If he’s researching RP, keep epp on Roosevelt for a potential steal. If he’s not researching RP, direct epp toward Churchill for an eventual steal of Steam Power.
remaining spies in Troy with remaining ep should run a counter espionage mission on Rosey after Corp steal. Maybe wait for 50% discount if building up for RP steal.
LC recommended a defensive spy be moved into Beijing asap too.

Beijing:
Builds: jail -> university
Citizens: 3 spies, grow to happy cap (take cottages back from Shanghai as possible to benefit from library, academy and market)
Improvements: none
Work 5 spies once jail is finished.

edit: oops one last thing
If we are running 0% research slider don't we want to whip the banks as early as possible (not just for WS prerequisites)?
Otherwise looks good to me :goodjob:
