A couple of points/queries:

  • How does the rising seas option get set?
  • The Goals section is missing the terminating /list

Sam - the rising seas option can be set once you load BUFFY. I presume Alan will open a SGOTM12 rules thread eventually where all questions will be answered, so please be patient a little while

Please use this thread to discuss the rules for this game. There is no guarantee that your questions will be answered :D

Correct :)

Does "Victory condition: Only space victory" mean that is the only victory condition enabled in the game? Or is that just a limit on the players' option?

Edit: second question. Does "one AI killing the other before the team has the opportunity to prevent it" mean that the player is obligated to broker peace as soon as possible? I understand that sitting idly while an AI gets destroyed is a violation of the spirit of the rule but I'm not sure how quickly we're expected to broker peace and/or come to the defense of the assaulted AI. I'm obviously hoping the game won't even come close to encountering this issue but you never know...

Is this and ancient start? sorry if i missed that somewhere. I obviously realize its modified regardless

1. When you say all pollution must be cleared I assume this means on entire map. Also I assume this means in AI land too? Am i too assume like the fur we will be required to search map for all ancient cities to find any pollution hiden away near the ice caps.

I didn't quite understand the nukes at launch part of the rules.

Teams will not be penalized for events outside the team's control, such as:

* one AI launch a nuke after the launch ....etc.

Do you mean launch of the game or what? I assume I have misread this. I assume the Ai have to launch the nuke before it hits us?

Sounds a silly question so i thought I would ask to save other teams any shame. :)

3. Am I to assume the team that completes all the objectives by earliest date will win? I couldnt see that in the rules.

Gumbolt: for your #2, I think that means the launch of the spaceship.

My question is about "All biological units have died from exposure to radiation, except your settler.": does this include elephants, horses, bananas, fishes, etc? :)

I was tempted to ensure global peace by vassalization until I noticed 'no vassal states' ... oh well

It means that if an AI launches a nuke at you or another AI, creating fallout, AFTER you have launched your ship, it will not count. Presumably because it might be impossible to clear the new fallout before the game ends.

Ah that might make sense. You would still have to prove that the nuke happened after the launch. Do nukes show up on the log?

If a banana attacks our capital I would be worried. I also assume this means we won't start with a warrior/scout either.

Yes, nukes do. I don't remember the exact game text but it says something like "so and so launched a nuke" and "so and so shot down a nuke" if SDI works.

The teams are trusted to fulfill the objectives to the best of their ability, and any AI related events that prevent the fulfillment of the criteria for winning shall be described and forwarded in a PM to Erkon or me for analysis.
I assume this means that if something DOES happen of the sorts (nuke after launch), we are to describe the situation precisely in a message to Alan/Erkon, and it would be our responsibility to make sure that the relevant saves etc. are available for review if needed.

I suspect he will just want a quick note. Saying we got nuked 1 turn before the finish around Moscow. I would also suspect he would want the game uploaded too. No need for a 10 page essay.

Hi all,

I'll try to clarify the rules. Don't hesitate to ask if anything still remains unclear.

Yes, that is the only victory option enabled, there is no choice for the player. Time is not enabled, so the game will continue after 2050 AD although the reported victory date be 2050 AD. I don't expect any team to play that far before the deadline

No, you don't have to broker peace as soon as possible. It's up to you to start and end as many wars you want, as long as you are at peace when you leave. The relations between the AIs are not your responsibility. It's up to you if you want them to be almost defeated. "The spirit of the rule" is to keep them alive if it's within your power i.e. you can prove that you did not neglect them.

Is this and ancient start? sorry if i missed that somewhere. I obviously realize its modified regardless

Yes, ancient start.

Yes, the entire map. Yes, AI land too. Yes, be careful to find all fallout.
I refer to the launch of space ship, since that may add fallout that you don't have time to clean.

Yes, earliest date that fulfill all criteria wins.

My question is about "All biological units have died from exposure to radiation, except your settler.": does this include elephants, horses, bananas, fishes, etc? :)

No, there will be (mutant) elephants, horsies, bananas and fish available on the map. Perhaps. I refer to units that can be built in the game that needs to breathe, eat and *censor*.

Yes. Yes.

Yes. Sorry for the absence of a screen shot, but we wanted the sign up thread up as quickly as possible :D

Is this sentence ambiguous? If so, I'll restate it ....

Laurels will be awarded to up to three teams who accomplish the winning goals fastest (Ie by the earliest in-game dates).

Is there a list of changes from the latest Buffy MOD to the Buffy_SG12 mod besides the "can't settle on fallout" one? Could you share these changes with us, or do the code-diggers get an advantage?

No victory option but space enabled means we can't accidentally win by dom or lose to AI cultural (lol) right? Why are you doing that, isn't it more challenging otherwise?

They'll be published. Erkon needs to ensure that he has the scenario play tested before we release the mod and provide the final change list. So far, the only changes that have been made are already stated in the signup post:
The fallout will not disappear by itself, and it is not possible to settle on fallout (due to a modified BUFFY)

Are we to understand that this statement means that the modified BUFFY we'll be playing under also includes some modified units and resources?
