I'm amazed at how well this is going. I sometimes wonder if I'm even playing the same game you guys do. :p

Settlers are not on the building list. No can do.

@Tubs: 20 turns time after last whip, and if you whip again within 20 there's a cross-over, each influencing for 20, the cross-over being double unhappy.
 
all I can say is that those cities are mighty unhappy and Kyoto was no ways going to get happy unless we would have kept 3 units inside and increased lux a lot. not worth it IMHO.
Thus, I chose to starve it with maximum scientists. This gave us 11*3 + 10*3 + 9*3 = 90 beakers so far. Well, worth it. Now, we could really whip the harbor and get happiness not only for Kyoto, but for Osaka as well (remember both Azteca and Japanese land aren't connected yet via a road).

And don't worry about the city size, the land around Kyoto is heavily irrigated, the city will grow faster than happiness will be able to keep up. I would say, we need to max science and thus, never want to have a lux more than 10%.

India of course can provide us with spices (once we have taken their towns) and Egypt gems. I would recommend not to trade luxes until we have astronomy. The risk of a broken trade route is too great.

apologies to post so much, but I had some more ideas and points I would like us to think about:

1. FP
where do we build it? Delhi looks like a nice commerce rich place and it wouldn't take ages to build it there.

2. Wonders
I do think our capital should get off building military as soon as we ca afford that. It will produce AC's anyway. It should instead go for wonders that would boost its research capability. Copernicus and maybe Newton later.
The FP city could go for Smith later on.

3. IA slingshot
We discussed it for entering the MA, but wasn't feasible. However, I truly believe we can set up that slingshot for the IA. When we enter, we gift all sci Civ's into the IA and we should be able to trade for all 3 techs. Hopefully we do have some cash then and we can purposely add optional techs for trading. Since we would like to get Smiths anyway, the techs I guess we could add are economics, democracy (or at least PP), music theory and navigation. If we feel that would not be enough, Mil Trad could be added.
Would be great if that would work
 
Unless I've forgotten something, Bach's is a continental wonder, yeah? In which case I see little reason to go for music theory. I also see little reason to go for PP and democracy, unless we're planning to rush for shakespeare's. I'd rather rush for cope's & newton's. Navigation can be useful, Smith's can be useful, cavalry can be useful, but delaying to get a lot of optional techs in the hopes of getting 1 extra tech at the age change doesn't make much sense to me. Especially as Democracy is no longer high value, due to not supplying a govt. At the age change we should be able to generate a lot of cash, and hopefully quite a few luxuries, + possibly nav/eco/mil trad. At that point music theory will be widespread, and we should pick it up in trade while gifting the SCI civs, so we'll still get any value it may have for giving it to more backwards SCI civs. PP/Demo will add little to that, I see them as a waste of time to sidetrack to.

I like FP in delhi.
 
sanabas, maybe I wasn't clear enough. I didn't mean that we would research useless techs such as PP or music theory. But the AI might do that and we could certainly get it before entering the next age.

I agree we should only go for economics and maybe navigation ourselves

:dance: by the way, guys, check Team klarius, there are now clearly 1 city capture behind us as I can see their territory is 9 tiles less or am I wrong?
 
Well, I thought we might start with some marketplaces, starting with the Zoo. We should also probably build them before libs in Rat Hole and Osaka.

Kyoto is only unhappy due to "100% way too crowded". I can see whipping the harbor for the lux but no more.

Will a stack of 8 units be enough to take Dehli?

Sanitation comes fairly early in IA, so if we skip the optional techs to get Shakespeares it should not be too long before we get sanitation and let the city grow via hospital.

I was looking at Paris last night - there are like 5 wonders in there. I'd rather not let them be a research partner because they'll just keep putting up wonders and threaten for 20k, not to mention deny us the wonders we want. Right now I am skeptical that any AI is going to do us any good with the heavy gpt upkeep for units.

Edit: Maybe klarius went for Japan first and they are closing in on the Aztec capital, or the RNG gods were bad to them

well, surely not, but we have an ally and they might do quite some harm. Their UU will have catapulted them into a GA already. they could also produce slaves, that we could harvest later on.

I simply sent the boats over, more units can follow. Once India is out, I would turn to Maya and ally Incas against them. Rinse and repeat this procedure

My bad. Comes of posting after midnight. Definitely agree, and the nice part about gifting AIs is you pick up all those optional techs as reimbursements.
 
OK let me try again. With all the MA's to take out Indian units, will dropping 8 units right next to Dehli be enough to take them out? If not I would drop on the other side of the mountains and move in when the second group of units arrive - unless Smart claims it in time.

If eight is not enough then how many should I bring?
 
You have 6 turns before reinforcements are there. However, if India is in a border fights I'd think the process would be similar to what happened with the Aztecs (~4-5 spears/archers in the capital). I can't remember if they had resources or not but if they're fighting with archers then eight units with dromon support should be plenty. If you're uncomfortable with eight units then leader fish in the allies territory. Also if there's an opportunity for the "bikini babe" trick (unload one unit on unroaded or pillaged territory and draw them towards that unit and when they get close load the unit back on the boat) that could be an option too.

The FP in Dehli. I think this is a case where a little RNG luck could be helpful. If we can get a MGL it's one of the situations where it will be more useful rushing the FP instead of making an army.
 
I think eight attackers +4 Dromons should be enough. Since a few ships are behind I might try some variation of the bait action (bikini babe)

I' not sure we have many reinforcements anyway since we should put up some infra

Just kidding. I think you may be right on this one since we can't put the army on a boat yet.

How bad is corruption actually going to be in Dehli? If we have a leader to rush maybe we should go a little farther away.
 
It's been well over 24 and if I read correctly, Smart's most recent post on the entire forum is 2/17.

So here is my ofiicial got it.

Plans:
Work on theology. Finish if possible, start education
Rush harbor in Kyoto, then worker then market then lib
Move in on Dehli then finish India if time permits
The Zoo, Rat Hole and Osaka to build markets. RH and O to follow with libs
Bears Den to help out with a couple military units
Try to avoid golden age

Will play some tonight, finish if possible
