Just checked the thread before sleep. I'll look at the save tomorrow. Obviously Brennus founded Judaism (i think).

Good to see ZPV is alive.
Pollux, do you like to be next? It should be easy to make a plan, all the strategic decisions are took, at least until Alpha. It's just a matter of refining the MM (Micro-Management).

Please let us know.

'night

I also made the conclusion that Brennus founded Judaism.

Folket, i've look at the SG results page and you did not uploaded the save there.

Your TS is completed, thus you must upload the save there. If you got problems, just ask.

Guess this something I'm unaware of. I will see if I can find it.

I did not know about the submissions page. I have uploaded the save now.

That means I did not download the the save for turn 20 correctly as well. Damn, I'm sorry. I will message AlanH and kcd_swede about it.

No need to do that. Turn 20 and turn 35 fall within the same player TS. Now we change player, thus you need to upload the 35 save to the server.

It's usual to keep the intermediate saves only in the team thread, to let the other players comment and to have a backup (it can happen to delete a save accidentally or to have a disk crash). Only when your TS is done you need to upload to the SGotM server.

If you noticed it, i didn't posted about your turn 20 save, meaning you did the right thing.

There's no problem with the last turn set.

BUT ...

Please do not post live saves in your thread. Upload them to the GOTM server. The next player then downloads the latest save from the server, and knows s/he is playing on from the correct save correctly.

So is someone planning to update the test game or are we abandoning at this point?

I'm sorry but I did not have the energy. I have been sick for two weeks and put a lot of effort into optimizing my turns.

I see, you did a good job.

We can go ahead with a PPP by BSPollux as soon as he's ready. But you are the only one who knows what you did in your TS, thus you're the only one which can update the test. Take your time, but please do it.

If at least you posted the autolog we could have reconstructed your worker actions. The warrior moves mean nothing, the test is useful only for the MM.

But probably you don't even know what an autolog is. I talked about it at the very beginnig. I'd like if anyone can know how to produce it and can post it after his TS.

In the early stage it's useful only to see some MM holes or to reconstruct a TS, but in a later stage it can be very useful for many things.

If someone could explain the absolutely correct way to handle the live-save file I'll get it as soon as possible. Please excuse me for asking again for detailed info about that but I realy want to make sure I dont mess up.

I will open it, check the ppp left-overs that reach into my turnset and update the list with my interpretation of the situation. I will then wait for either Blub or several others to authorize me to start playing and play a few turns, update and so on, every day. I want to make slow but constant progress. We want 20 turns this week, so I will plan to play 3 turns a day from Saturday till Wednesday (I was ment to play 15 right?) if you accept my plans in time. Else I will plan MORE turns ahead to free up lost time.

It's pretty simple, you download the save from the progress page, play, save it to your computer with a distinct name. After your turnset is done, upload the save to the progress page. It is a good idea to copy the autolog in your report. It will be automatically generated once you upload your turnset at the progress page.

If you haven't done it yet, modify yor civilizationIV.ini file located in your user directory/Documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword to make an autosave every turn. (Open in notepad, search for "autosave" and change AutoSaveInterval to 1.)

While playing, I follow these rules:
-have a turn-by-turn tPPP which has every action you need to take written on a piece of paper or on another computer in sight
- play a turn as written
- before ending the turn re-check that you didn't miss any action written in the PPP
- try to make a routine advisory screen check in every turn, to see if something came up. (It is more important in the later stages and in the very beginning, but less important at this stage.)

And the most important: don't panic. Nothing happens if you screw up a move. In that case just stop and report. We are all here to learn after all ;)

theres a problem not related to civ, but its horrific:
my left mouse button died an hour ago!

no clue if any of you are part of the gaming crowed that likes highspeed stuff, but i am and to me my mouse is like a part of my body. so treat that like 'i just broke my arm' or something.

I need to get some replacement that deserves the name or I cant play because a damaged mouse would make me mad (right now i inverted the buttons, so i got no right button, technicaly, but thats no solution).

This might delay my playing by two days: its saturday and I cant buy a new one today, tomorrow all shops will be closed -> 2 days.

I'll let you know If I will play this weekend in like 12h, so you could get a replayement if you want.

By the way guys, I came back from training to find out my Dad died. I've been a bit of a mess last week, but I'm starting to get a handle... just carry on, please. I'm not a big cog in this right now anyway.

I am reading, so if I see something I'll mention it.

Let me express my condolences for your terrible loss Mastiff.
Take all the time you need this is just a game.

And about the mouse-problem: I'll be playing but I will lose this saturday.

Ditto.

I'm too a good-mouse-dependant-guy. If only it gets a bit out of optimum i just change it. And i always use the top Logitech.

Its less about top-quality, its about 'being used to'. Like an old pair of shoes. Even the best new pair cant fit as well.

but im gone for today

As said before I'll play three turns

From what I can tell theres nothing to do right now but to move the warrior (path noted in screenshot).

Heres the things that will happen during the next turns:

2 turns: Orleans border growth
4 turns Paris builds worker
4 turns worker finishes farm on floodplains
5 turns Orleans reaches pop 2
5 turns Orleans builds warrior
9 turns discover writing

So, if someone agrees and noone disagrees I'll play three turns in a few hours, doing nothing but exploring. When I'm done I will post my suggestions for the workers next task, paris next project, Orleans next project, the use of its 2nd pop and the new warriors movement path.
