SGOTM 17 - Maple Sporks

I just tested, and much to my surprise, astre is right (unfortunately :p). The loading of the unit seems to consume the movement points already.

In that case I'd drop the 21 units at T+2. As long as we can't build other interesting units anyway, I'd probably still build galleon 8 and 9, so we have a total of 48 units unloaded at T+3.
 
I' have just finished an archipelago map and shipping of units was just a nightmare for me :(

i can always start a treb and wait until iron is available to buy it.
or buy treb directly. always a nice unit...

I'll upgrade units T0-1 if possible (not sure of that)

will play tonight sure.
 
I'm thinking about going rifling asap now. If the absolute need to rushbuy goes away after buying the last boats, maybe it's better to get rifling ourselves too, speeded up by partbulbing RP with the GE. We could upgrade all our muskets to rifles, I don't think we need any resources for that. Not sure if we can also freely upgrade horse units to cavs without access to resources (might want to test that). In any case, I think a heavy upgrade might be worth more than a couple of extra rushbought units.
 
I expect (hope?) iron will be available quite soon (T4 or T5 to get the tile +1 turn for minning)
so cannon will be buy quite soon for a second wave.

but i also tought about bulbing RP and finish it quite early then consider if riffling is close or not.
I'll settle GM in our commerce city (economic is of no use except for another GM)

Btw, i'll keep the 3 first english cities. we are not in danger of winning by dom and england will be the ultimate fighting, we will need reinforcement...
 
Yes, definitely keep the first English cities! At the very least Warwick for a teleport. But a few more will be good.

To throw out an idea: maybe you can buy some spies to provoke city revolts upon attacking. I think I switched all EP on Churchill.

So which turn are you going to declare in the end? T+2?

declare T+2 with 7 boats.
Go slow (bombard when possible)

objective : take warwick and coventry before teleport japan army. middle city would be a plus but not a focus.

spy are good ideas, i'll rush build them. maybe i can even take one city with them.
 
Or use the spies to sabotage city walls or castles if you do not have enough points for revolts.

Good luck from me, looking forward too seeing the finish. I think it might be close with the likes of First Element, Misfit etc. I'd like to go se their choices :)

things are going hard against redcoat. musquets and smaller are useless :(
the redcoat does not goes down in power after suicides, it's discouraging :(

did get riffling and warwick althrought...
russia is pile of ash, his cottages gave us lots of money :)

any tips for england?

I plan to flee coventry by boat heal in warwick, upgrade muskets into rifflemens and use japan cannons to open the way one city by one city...

Accept anarchy and swop to feudalism. Rush trebs until we have iron in England then upgrade to cannon. CR2 cannon is the way to go, rifles/cavalry not too important (we have plenty already). Disband most of Russian stuff.
 
Can't look at the save until tonight unfortunately. I'm not quite sure what the problem is? Did we lose many units? What's the power rating right now?

Good thing you got Warwick and rifling. Doesn't that mean we can just mass upgrade at least our muskets now and do the teleport?

If you got Warwick, didn't you kill a lot of English units already?

Don't quite get the Coventry part.

I'll explain. Did not had time yesterday night, sorry (ravage russian country side was quite time consuming).
The problem is:

chirchil sent to us his kind of pile of doom to our attack force near warwick (all his old units) then we took warwick. after PoD attack and taking of warwick, only 3 cannon left :( no other loss althrough

I put 2 other stacks near canterbury (9-10 musketmen and a 2 spy)
and near coventry (12 random armies ).

i revolted canterbury with spies then try to attack at least 3 against one waiting for red coat to be harvest by small guy , i stop with 4-5 dead on my side and only scratchs on red coats. do i continue the slauther or goes back to warwick to improve?

near coventry, the same thing except it was 12 against 2 red coat but no spy on my own. the combat calculator gave me 15% chances but after 5 death with only scratch on red coats, i stoped. again: continue, flee or ravage the countryside?

I plan to stop army production and goes money only everywhere except our little ireland. japan is already dead, he doesn't know it yet...

well played the end of my set (up to 1806)
I escentially regroup and torch english lands. we are ready to attack again with japan force.
I did not moved some of our strategical armies to let next played decide the strategy:

forces in japan can attack japan or position for a new ceasefire if toku accept to speak to us ever again...
forces in england can position to attack canterbury or hasting

forces near coventry could try an attack with a spy ready but that might be a little too small.

I had a small problem of complete freeze but just after a save maybe one move was lost (don't know if the freeze was before or after the move). i'll warn team. strange as i usualy have absolutely no problem with civ games (even big ones)

Sorry I can't contribute more from here. It does seem a little harder than expected if I see the screenshots with multiple redcoats...

Got it.

Cashrush rax in England. Disband Russian armies completely. Finish Toku then disband Japan armies. More culture in ?Belfast for iron tile. Capture southern iron city asap. Cash rushing and upgrading CR1 maces is better than cash rushing C1 rifles.
 
russian army should clean hades first for money. and don't forget to pillage every tile you turn on (england, japan and barbarian) i gained 2kg pillaging cottages in russia.

finish japan may not be the best idea. I'd keep osaka to enable a 3rd teleportation trick (if toku ever want to speak again)

one advice: keep low profile in front of redcoats, they are deadly defending a city :(

I still haven't seen the save, so I don't know how tough a nut England is to crack.

But can't we just teleport the Russian army through the cease fire mechanism? Is disbanding really gaining us that much, if anything? As a backup plan I'd like to keep the option open to move over those units. Those units shouldn't take that eternally long either to get to the right spot. Of course supposing we didn't already disband the ships near our core.
 
if we succed to make a third teleportation, russian army can become handy as cleaner for japan.
Else, it will take at least 9 turns to be operational in japan, thus too long.

btw, we are talking about 15-20 crusader.

but agreed I should have kill the cannons...

I've killed some ship but there are still enought.
 
Coventry: 5 redcoat (inc 3*CG3)
Canterbury 5 Recoat (1*CG3) +3.
Hastings; 2 Redcoat +3.

I have the inklings of a plan:

Concentrate 20 cuirs vs Hastings (3 turns).

Concentrate 15 cannon+8 rifle vs Canterbur (3 turns).

Capturing both will give us iron (after revolts over) or we might win culture battle for north island iron.

Retreat units from Canterbury to Belfast and upgrade.

Belfast/Dublin: rush rax and trebs, upgrade to cannon once we have iron.

Delete Russian armies. We have enough cuirs in the jungle to annihilate Hades already.

Destroy 2 Japanese cities, leave Tokyo. If we get ceasefire at this point then southwest units should port to Warwick. We just need to leave enough units to the east to kill Tokyo.
