An epic tale for the grandchillens

Once upon a time there was an Erkon that either appeared out of nowhere or spawned from a famous French fountain:

This Erkon thing warned mere mortals about the profanity of research:Its message was confirmed by a Revelation from God:

The Erkon naively tried tempered enthusiasm:But words alone couldn't express the heart and soul required:The Erkon found the only path through thick skulls was poetic and aesthetic magnificance:Today, no one really knows if the Erkon ever existed, but its glorious, bloodlusting wisdom endures on the epitaphs of all steenkin' builders:
Spoiler :
Kill'em all! :ar15::aargh::aargh::aargh:
Ignore it at your own peril.

I've been preaching from the Book of Erkon for years now, but the Kakus have never actually fought a real (decent sized) war yet. Apparently it's too simple.

If the SGOTM is really just a friendly game between teams whose players are all fully trustworthy, why do we need to use the BUFFY module to ensure no reloading or other detectable violations of SGOTM? Can't we just trust everyone to play honestly? Well, maybe we can't go that far. The point of using BUFFY is to remove temptation as much possible. That is also the reason to avoid non-verifiable bans on exploits as much as possible. The more we lean on machine verification and validation of the games, the more we can trust the game results.

It is interesting to note that among all types of court evidence, the least reliable is "eye witness" accounts. Check it out.

Well, if nothing else, I guess what STW things of the community is clear.

Ok, I suggest that we abandon BUFFY for SGOTM-17, because SGOTM players are so honest that saints pale in comparison.

I suggest you let it rest, STW. Everybody has said all there was to say. You can freely use the gpt exploit/tactic as much as you want and, from what I deduct, nearly everybody else freely agrees not to use it. Everybody happy. Let's get on with it.

. Well said.

I think kakumeika would then use "pure skill" to win conquest t1. Gold cup! Top score!

With this SGOTM, an interesting a variation in how exploits are handled has been introduced. Below is how I would describe the change. I you agree please say so. If you don't agree, please say how you would word things differently.

SGOTM Rules, including officially banned exploits:

These are mandatory and apply to all teams. I will not repeat these here. We should all know where they are located.

SGOTM Team based Gentlemen's Bets:

These are additional restrictions that a team places on itself, usually an agreement to not use an exploit that is officially legal to use. The idea is the team is betting that it can still win the competition under its self imposed restriction or beat some other team that has not agreed to the same restriction. Compliance is either based on the team's honor to adhere to the restriction or later checking game saves for evidence of compliance when such is possible. The bet is not monetary, but affects only the honor of the Teams involved. These are far more commonly called Gentlemen's Agreements, but they really are Gentlemen's Bets for there needs to be something at stake, a bet of one's honor, for these assymetrical rules to make sense.

SGOTM Team Rules:

Each Team has there own variation of Team Rules that the Team uses to organize its play. These must conform to the SGOTM Official Rules that apply to all Teams.

Wow, if your mission is to kill the fun for everyone, you have very nearly succeeded.

This is trolling!!!!!!

I know you are going to respond, because you always need to have the last word, but PLEASE STOP!

I sincerely hope no one else responds to you, as if they do this will roll on forever

Teams can play the game in any way they choose, within the rules agreed across all the teams, and documented by the staff.

To avoid further damage to the enthusiasm of the vast majority of SGOTM players, I'll have to close this thread as well. Unprecedented in SGOTM history!
