SGOTM 19 - Also Sprach Sid

@Kossin: The plan was to move out of Damascus T151 and then take Kayseri T152. Oh Well :)

It became impossible when the following happened:

After CF with Alex, most of the units were bumped to the north of Damascus in the remains of Mecca.
6 healthy units are affected by loss of movement.

I will still wait for next turn DoW since a lot of troops require shuffling. Basically only Samsun can be razed this turn so there's basically no difference.

It became quite impractical and we didn't really have units ready to go so I waited a turn. I agree with your suggestion to continue eastward and ignore the rest of Napoleon troops in the West. I'd like to face them weakened :)

Looks like TSR are done (saw kcd post in their thread so not sure), that would be T168 I think

Off to bed too, waking up at 5.30 tomorrow

Victory turn saves are never shown during competition (well there was one time by mistake), so they are done T169 or later.

~~~
Meeting finished very early, I can play some more tonight.
Sorry for the low feedback: I've not been feeling well all day. I'll take a look at the save now. :goodjob:
Played a bit in the next turn; quick errand to run now.
Time to gift Augusburg, not very safe for Alex.
Pity this had to go...
NE will go bye-bye.
Napoleon turned back the second stack and massed all his nearby units... we'll have to go through this before going to his western cities.
I would prefer not to attack now because they're getting the 25% hill bonus.
Casualties: 4
City defenders killed: 7
70% odds they say.
We can delay the nets for the last few seafood resources to save some corporation cost. If the cash is tense and the worker forces are enough, we could also pillage some Rice resources.
Guess we could raze his south city 1st.
How would you use our stack if we don't attack Napoleon's new mini-stack?
The 25% bonus is not so bad, and only affects 4 defenders. It is better than attacking it in a city, or defending, especially because of flanking damage to the Catapults.
For Goto Jail, I'll run a test to see how 4 Cuirassiers fare against 2 LBs.
AI won't attack a powerful stack if it does not threat a city. So our stack can raze the south city and then deal with Nappy's stack when they move to a plain tile.
With four Cuirassiers, 8/10 wins:
2 losses each left one badly injured Longbow, e.g.:
Absolutely. Rice resources may be pillage a bit later when I feel the initial worker stretch is under control.
Well, there is only 1 Longbow in Kayseri so we can try this... blame my RNG if Napoleon decides otherwise :)
Excellent! I assume we can clean up on the following turn?
I didn't test after :shifty: , but a fifth Cuirassier would be needed for absolute safety.
In the two losses, we had one Cuirassier win and one retreat. If the LBs are at level 1, they could promote twice, which won't be possible for our units.
However, I don't think it's a worry. If we have bad RNG then we can ship 1–2 more Cuirassiers to the NE corner to help our badly injured survivors. That wouldn't be ideal, but we can react to bad luck with cities that are too far away from Napoleon to contribute there.
No barb cities in the fog, which is good news I guess.
I'll make most of the moves but leave the west untouched when I upload in a little bit... we might be able to lure Nappy's stack with a worker...
I don't think it's necessary to check the save every turn. The only thing that can mess us is the fogbust. We have large room for errors. Speedup.:)
Bait?
I don't plan on uploading every turn... once the western part is dealt with, it will be a lot easier.
That being said, uploaded if anyone wants to take a look for suggestions in west.
Note the Alex settler party going back to Mecca.
There are a few units scattering around and we don't know which one will move 1st. If we want to use bait, then Nappy worker 1S is better. And we should kill all other units around, use the worker to block on the sheep tile. Stack on the tile 1W of the sheep.
Edit:Maybe the worker on the sheep tile is not good to stop his stack movement.
I was thinking of putting it only in range of the stack. Since AI sees as far as its units can move, it can, for instance, move everything to 1W of the gold fort.
Only if the road is pillaged, but that'd risk sacrificing a unit of our own.
I'm going out in 15 minutes, but tomorrow I'll be here until we close out.
It may be best to sort our ideas and I resume play tomorrow... nevertheless, I'll stick around until 11pm.
