SGOTM 23 - Xteam

No raging barbs.... interesting.

Some great wonders gone, but no GLH or MoM!

Demographics look scary!! Someone has 43 gnp/t, and someone has 14 fpt, with 24000 m2 land area. That doesn't match the top cities screen (cant have that much food with only working 1 tile), this makes me think that someone has 2 pre-settled cities, but the second has no culture so does not show up.

hmmmmmm, they are going to be a monster

edit: I am happy for you to scout :)

No raging barbs, Gwall not built.

Som bizarre demographics indeed (and BSP said this wouldn't be like previous SGOTM  :crazyeye:).

Very early days indeed but I'm wondering about culture victory with all these holy capitals around (might need to capture them first ).

I've added this important note to the scenario details:-

Clarification from the Discussion Thread: If you lose your capital, rebuild it at the same place and make it your capital again asap. If it seems you try to abuse this, you may be disqualified.

Interesting that the two cities containing the Great Library and Pyramids are not in the top 5. Does this imply those 2 wonders were build by barbarians?

NZ, like Neil, I am happy to see you continue to scout.

Also, NZ looking at the post were you initially had things to do and moves for the scouting units to make, I have a question about your move notation. For example, you show the warrior's move as: "1N1E" which I interpreted as 2 moves (1 North and 1 east) or should I have read that as 1 move to the Northeast?

I suspect you meant the lather and apologize for having misinterpreted what you posted.

If 1N1E = 1NE, 1S1E = 1SE, and 1N1W = 1NW then we are talking about the same moves for the units.

Interesting theory and probably right, we could test that I guess.

It's OK, I know this can be confusing - that's why I posted about what notation we should use :) We should try and agree on something that we can all easily understand.

I'll do the initial scouting moves now.

OK, here we go - some interesting finds. Sea to the north, 2 wine grass hills to the East.

I'm thinking the scout continues 1S1E and the Missionary goes 1N1E but open to suggestions.
I agree with your proposed moves.
Looks like mountains (Alps?) behind the wine hills.

If we think playing test games before settling will help, I am willing to update both test games for what scouting shows and to remove raging barbarians.

Anyone know how to find out the number of land tiles with Domination victory shutoff?

Test map update would be good - now we can include the Wonders already gone, religions founded etc. Perhaps wait until the scouting moves for t0 are finished - particularly what the Scout reveals next may be critical.

Good point, not sure there is a way. Don't think we will know where are (via F1) until we settle.

Agree with moves for scout (SE) and missionary (NE). Maybe post the save before moving settler so we can practice tile gazing.

OK I'll make the other moves and then post. I think we can then have a discussion re settling / further scouting etc, I'd really like us all to be in agreement on that.
