Looks like Horse will be a valuable trade item.

And maybe we put 2 into Biology, then trade for Calendar, then 2 bulb Astronomy and finish Biology manually.

I think we can trade him our whale even when he doesn't have optics.
But it might not come down to needing +1 resource trades

Sal has only 2 horse
One very remote marble.
