[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Home Slices

Hah, it is humble Kaitzilla night.

Liberalism in 2 turns might actually be possible.
I don't know how.

Thankfully I suspected WT might have been right and set things up to go 1 turn earlier if a miracle happened.
Clam City and Cow City need a 2nd look now.

Germany is 17 points ahead of France and France is still -2 religion.
War bribe should be possible.

Uploading now.

oh, good. so the caravel will get to silver city in time? among everything else that needs to line up?
No wonder you want to pass it off to Mitch :shifty:
I think I did.
Will have to check tomorrow.
Maybe build Research + 2 Scientists in Profit City. Or a spy in Whale City to guarantee it in 2 turns.
Clam City is a bit of a question mark on Sushi Exec. spread timetable if it tries to make that Catapult.

As long as Courthouses get 3-pop whipped with a decent overflow, the Sushi Exec. can start at Size 3 and 2-pop whip at Size 4 due to the huge food surge.

Thanks for the help WT! :worship:
Gnite. I'll fix my log tomorrow.

We also need to remember to bribe Peter into a better economic tech T155 + slavery.
If he goes Mercantilism we lose a lot of trade routes.

Well done, Kait! (and WT :pat:)

I can pick up the save but I won't be able to start in earnest until Monday. Let me know if you want me to pick it up on Monday or now (both are essentially the same for me).

Don’t have the map in front of me but depending on the SB galley’s mission just putting our galley or caravel on that tile north of the land that blocks the path of SB’s galley might cause his galley to turn around.

Woke up today with 100 fever and diarrhea, so I'm officially sick.

I need to pass my final 3 turns, so you're up Mitchum!

Did SB poison your water? At least he didn't poison the water in Canal! ;)

Got it. Can you point me to the best place to see our high-level plans for the next 10 turns? I assume your PPP has the next 3 turns pretty nailed down. I've also seen the Sushi spread plan. Any other city build or worker plans?

EDIT: Hope you're feeling better soon!

Thanks!

Let's see, first we get Louis into the war.
I think Paper gift gets him 4th on scoreboard and we gain 1 Diplo.
Then either Calendar or Nationalism to DOW Charlemagne.

We need a tech after Liberalism while we wait to see what Peter will tech next.
Steel?

Peter needs a civic bribe on T155, so we have to plan that.
Perhaps sell him Paper T153, Education T154, and Economics T155.
Then bribe him into Slavery+Free Market.

All 6 workers will be improving Science City :)
Easy.

The cities need to be planned to spread Sushi 1 turn earlier.
I'll try to help with that.
Silver City should be able to 2-pop Forge next turn and then 5-pop Sushi on T154.

We need to lock in Liberalism in 2 turns since we probably will be whipping.
Perhaps build Research in Profit+Whale for 1 turn.
x2 scientist in Profit City.
Delay whipping Canal 2 more turns.
I'll try to get the overflow :science: from Biology up later.

And finally the Sitting Bull war.
There are plenty of things to scheme there.
We are very limited on shipping units without Galleons.
I set things up to mainly pillage and perhaps kidnap a Worker using our Galley.

Defending that clam east of Canal City that I messed up on with Galley+Caravel will be a nail biter.
Galley on Clam sure, but I'm not sure if Caravel should block the path or leave it open for Sitting Bull.

I think MT. Working on WP before slavery ends is more urgent than IW/cannons.
Perhaps gift him Education T154 and Economics T155.
why 2 techs?
Why Econ?
Edu on 155 is probably enough. If we did 2 techs, it would be Liberalism, right? heading towards communism and allows FreeReligion.
We're looking at whether Peter goes Astronomy or Gunpowder+Chem. We don't really want him having both. Either allows us to give him SciMethod and then hope to get Communism out of him.

Start grooming a 2nd AI Researcher now?
Sal
, you'd think, would be a good techer with 3 gold. However. One gold is not in any BFC. Idiot :splat:
The other two gold are in a city with no food, so he probably doesn't work the gold tiles :spank:
Louis, we beefed up, but he was much farther behind the others, so too slow. Maybe we get drama from him some day.
Bismarck is the faster researcher with a lead (of HBR and Construction) over Sal, and he may get some HRE cities or at least be able to settle the land we clear for him.
Plus, by giving in to his demand recently, maybe we can get to Friendly?
+1 peace, +1 OB, +2 resources, +4 fair trade, +1 tech (requires 20 techs!), +4 shared war
My biggest concern is:
"We Fear You Are Becoming Too Advanced appears after he sees you receive 8 techs from AIs" (Louis is also 8, Sal is 15)
That count decays of course. Not sure where we're at. (we never shoulda taken archery)
We did just get Calendar from him tho, so maybe I don't know how this works.

(edit: this denial can't happen at Friendly)

So, should we try to get an advanced tech out of him? If Peter goes for ReplaceableParts, maybe Bismarck gets us Communism or vice versa.

So for the next turnset, should we start putting EPs on Bismarck (only 70 needed to see research some day)?
And should we slowly start gifting him up for gold every so often while Peter makes up his mind?

I was hoping Sal would be our researcher so the EPs on him could be used to force FreeReligion one day. I suppose we have enough EPs for both eventually.

Question: Do we really want to dry pop our Sushi execs? We're not playing a high-score game here and could use our population for other things, right? Is spreading sushi one turn faster really worth the dry whip penalty in this game?

We're only doing it once. the 1st one. which accelerates all 6 cities by 1 turn.
It's 7 pop (5 and only 2 cus of overflow) vs 6 pop (3 and 3), so we decided to do that one.
(edit: or maybe it was 7 pop vs 5 pop)

Only the very first sushi exec is worth dry whipping.

Every other city 1 turn earlier is +60:food:.
Dry whipping our city with the most food is -2 pop I think, which is less than 60 food.

So I think it will be worth it.

I just don't want to see Peter ever adopt Mercantilism.
He will be tempted every 10 turns to leave Decentralization until we get him into Free Market since that is the civic we are running.

His 10 trade routes are the reason Science City + Silver has 4 fat +3:gold: trade routes with tons of science multipliers.

Groom a 2nd AI techer in the new world?
Sounds like Bismark.
Your wise recommendation means we can get Friendly with him I think, but I'm not sure how fast.

Hopefully with France joining the dog pile, Germany and France will start trading around their monopoly techs like drama.

Advancing the new world means we get more gold, but we also face bad events like Emancipation and Privateers sooner.

Advancing the Arabs is no good.
There is 10% chance their fist is for us.

I thought we'd care less after Astronomy opens up new TRs.
bad events like Emancipation
remind me. Is the penalty for civs running slavery only? or any non-emancipation civic? cus we will eventually be in caste.

I'm not sure if he could have plotted war on us without Astro. We should be able to get him drop those plans if it is us, right?

We would, but AI minus Peter is 19 trade routes and we need +28 to max out.

I guess it might be ok due to our island, but if we build harbors everywhere our capital might lose all foreign trade routes and have a single +2.

Emancipation penalty applies to both slavery and caste.

Yes, the AI can plot without Astro.
To check, make a test game on an island in the ocean.
Make yourself -100 with all AI.
Make all AI +100 with each other.
See if anyone starts plotting by mashing next turn.
Perhaps give everyone satellites so everyone has full map vision.
