Another way to look at the gamble of overflowing Steel is if we have to put 1000 into Communism, we didn't 'lose' that.
All it means is that if Peter does communism he saves us 3300 instead of 4300.
Those beakers aren't wasted at all if Peter doesn't do Communism.

RE: anarchy 176 vs 174 with/without Steel gamble. It's not 900:science: setback it's more.

Here are the 4 bpt options for the next 5 turns (T172-176)...

2) 174 caste, NO gamble on Steel OF

I'm not saying we don't build observatories. Just can't whip them. I suggested putting maxOF into em, for example, in Canal, since there is no rush to finish westpoint. But just slow-build the rest of it.
Cows can probably do the same instead of putting OF into IronWorks.
Profit too. It doesn't need the cathedral soon especially with Sankore offline.
Okay. Do you see any cities that won’t handbuild observatories instead of whipping? What is the beaker cost of that? Everywhere else build by hand?

Clams
-still needs Bank 10/200, WSJ 600, Grocer 150? harbor 80, temple 80
Grocers won't do us much good.

Looks like Caste soon, lots of 100% slider, and Grocer is only +1:health: from Banana.
We also won't be building any Supermarkets.

We will most likely be running all Merchants in Silver City since it has Bank, Grocer, Market for Sushi HQ.

A grocer in Clam City might make sense since it will have Market+Bank+Wall Street, but I'm pretty sure our :science: rate will be so high after Mass Media (more than +1200:science: per turn) that UN will be the bottleneck and Clam City won't work any merchants at all.

We can slow build Observatories everywhere except Silver City.

If we try to slowly build Observatory and then slowly build Heroic Epic, we won't get our fail gold until the very end of the game which is too late to spend it all.

Canal is also questionable.
Working 2 tundra mines to grind out 150:hammers: Observatory, 700:hammers: West Point, and then a fat 180:hammers: Intelligence Agency is agonizing, but might get done in time with chops at the end. :hmm:

Let me check the Worker-Turns to max out Clam City by Turn 200
Spoiler :
5 turns to workshop 2W
5 turns to workshop 2W1N
6 turns to workshop 2N1W
4 turns to workshop 2N1E
4 turns to workshop 1N2E
7 turns to mine 2W1S with 1 worker and have it move somewhere else afterwards
8 turns to workshop 1N
9 turns to chop+mine 1NE
12 turns to chop+workshop 1E

60 worker turns, or 30 turns with 2 Workers :hmm:
T202 is a bit late, but I'm sure a 3rd worker will join from Canal using a Galley in about 10 or 15 turns.

At Size 13, it can work 2 clams and 11 hammer tiles.
With +12:food: from Sushi, the city would lose -2:food: per turn.
It would do 50:hammers: per turn or 62:hammers: per turn with Forge. (UN done in 16.129 turns)
All 3 chops would give +84:hammers: or 105:hammers: with Forge.

Assuming we get Astro, Replaceable Parts, and Communism from AI, then all we need is:

Steam Power 4992:science:
Assembly Line 7800:science:
Industrialism 10140:science:
Physics 6240:science:
Electricity 7020:science:
Radio 9360:science:
Mass Media 5616:science:
Refrigeration 6240:science:
Superconductors 10140:science:

Physics -> Electricity -> Radio -> Mass Media is pretty straightforward. (28,236:science:)
2 Great Scientist bulbs for Electricity will help speed that up. (+3500:science:)

Then we have 27 turns to do the rest after Mass Media.
4992+7800+10140+6240+10140 = 39312:science:
Divide by 1.2 and that is 32760:science: RAW
Divide by 27 turns, and once we complete Mass media we need to be doing 1213:science: per turn with our 100% slider to match UN complete in 20 turns.

If we are teching faster than that, then we need to build U.N. faster than 20 turns I think.
The +25% :hammers: from Forge and +1:hammers: for workshops in Caste will help a lot.
A blazing UN in 15 turns can line up with an empire doing 32760/22 = 1489:science: per turn.
If we do more beakers per turn than that after Mass Media, it doesn't help because UN construction speed is the bottleneck.

I think we should consider adding 2 more cottages to our capital.
The river tundra and the plains farm.

If we like the farm right now, perhaps eventually a watermill to replace the plains farm since we are getting Electricity and Replacable Parts in about 20 turns.

T174 Anarchy and cranking the slider right now to almost complete Steel?
I do like gambling.

How soon can we get the Heroic Epic gold if we are switching to Caste on T174?

I admit the estimation I made earlier might be larger than it would be in the real game. It's not worth the effort.
Still I need to say.
It would be different if we were ever going to run out of money, but we are not. So that extra wealth doesn't get the benefit of saying "I can make the research slider go up".
We probably will run out of money sometime after getting Massmedia. Needs ~200g for 2 sushi spread, 110g for a galleon. Every turn -150 if not building wealth except science, 10 merchant*3*200%. End up like net -80gpt. Now we have 1100~, 1000 from HE failgold, 600 conquer money from HRE, 300 from tech give-away, some build-wealth. We will run out of cash in about 40 turns. More cash now will allow science to build wonder bread, like MoM.

I will change the PPP to accommodate T174 civic switch+gamble on T175 astronomy.

Are we gambling that Astro(2) on T174 might be done T175?
If something like that happened in a game that I was playing solo, I might gift Rice + 100:gold: per turn to Peter to try and goose his tech slider to as high as possible for 1 turn.
Then pillage rice the next turn and rebuild it. :hmm:

I guess there is no need to worry too much. Peter now has 100g for trade, probably AP fail gold.

T172 0% steel
I think we're gonna full-on gamble and go with Steel ~70% on 172. It depends. After you MM some more scientists. Whatever it takes to make sure you don't get Steel(1)

Silver needs to at least start the HE and is holding OF now
172 HE
173 harbor
174 whip temple, whip harbor

which means Whales cannot do HE this turn and should just skip it's 2nd OF. It could slow-build HE later.
Whales

172 Harbor (70/80)
173 University (15/200)
174 whip university first, then harbor, but take them out of the queue and build a Theater. Optionally: cold-whip that Theater for 2 pop.
A cold whip is still 30 per pop.

T173 unload onto wine near SB
T174~T178 fort wine

//notice that to road the wine, 3 roads are needed in forest and hills. at least 12 worker turns are needed, more are required if more workers are involved. Better to fort it?
a fort is also 12 turns. I'd rather have 3 roads. Some of our units might use it. We may come back to chop that forest some day.

Try optimize galley turns, so it can be more useful moving our army. Just drop the musket and Ivory both on the hill with 2 other workers. Go get the other musket and proceed to move our army.

Ivory can walk straight to Wine-SW and road 176-178. It doesn't pay to help with the mine. The other road segment completes T179 so wine can be traded this turn. I don't see a good way to finish the road faster than 179 cus I think the mine comes first.
