[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Home Slices

:hammer2:so what are we doing connecting another wine? Useless. More bad planning. re-task wine road worker(s)?
Oops.
Probably turn the worker around and either use the Galley to go improve Clam City, or just preserve the forest 1S of Canal City.

The only way we'd want to road our wine now is if Germany had vast and enormous amounts of :gold: per turn to trade, and us getting Wine from Germany somehow reduced our :gold: per turn income.
Very unlikely on Emperor AI + Banned subsidized trading.

**Edit**
Maybe chop the forest 1NE of Wheat to speed up Observatory a bit in Canal?
We need to work both mines and Engineer as much as possible now for good :hammers: per turn in Canal City.

Note that our capital will naturally get all +4:gold: trade routes once it reached 15 Population.

We need to buckle down and make sure the Great Scientist? is born in Science City before we get too far into Electricity.

With Louis' crab, we need 1 more for +1 food.
How about we give Peter Stone for clam for 10t? Canal can do the observatory and WestPoint resumes T185

Losing Stone for 10 turns should be ok.

West Point is at 190/800:hammers: as of Turn 172.

Would need to forget about chopping any forest into Observatory.

My guess at PR strategy looking at the graphs, they clearly are not doing conquest, and we deduced they went for GreatLighthouse (eliminates UN), so that only leaves Religious realistically.
Based on their culture, they did not go for early sushi, and their score shows steady, high population so they're not whipping. I can't imagine they did Hereditary Rule cus Representation is too good for research. So I'm thinking they have 7 Academies and maybe never ran a golden age.
Probably Christian (stone) and are enjoying +6 :hammers: from religious buildings--avoiding SciMethod to keep Monasteries and (if they built it) the GreatLibrary. Altho Sankore gives +42 base empire wide.

PR's steady and somewhat consistent score increase is hard for me to fathom without HR to manage the happy cap. You think they cottaged everything and build 7 Academies? That would be an interesting strategy but would not allow high population like farming would. It will be interesting to see what they did.

This is a friendly reminder for all the teams that the deadline for your final upload will be September 30th, 2020.
We need to pick up the pace a bit. Now that our goal is to grow our cities, work scientists (and merchants) and only complete optional builds that pay back in ~30 turns or less, I'm hoping that things move a bit faster.

We should be in caste the rest of the game.
That alone simplifies things.

Thank goodness we are getting the gold and silk and no one is plotting against us.

I forgot about how exactly the granary works. Should I work some specialists to reduce the food surplus such that the cities can grow at exactly 1 turn or 2 turns?

If a city is growing faster than 1pop per turn, the food just carries over.
There are no losses.

Granary works the same as always.

The small cities should focus on growth right now I think.
Then gradually switch over to hammers or specialists as the city nears happy cap.

We will be double bulbing in about 8 turns, so each population is worth 6:science:

No, I think the general strategy would be to grow cities using coastal tiles, but nothing lame like tundra or unimproved tiles. Then once you run out of 2f tiles or you reach the happy/health cap, go max specialists (or workshops as needed) and of course you can work the silver all the time. There are exceptions like Canal probably works 2 mines and engineer for 9 base.

Sitting Bull War
disarmament and evacuation

get back all units in SB's territory

injured healer caravel and trireme move to 3S1E of canal

1 0-exp musket move towards tundra hill near SB border to defend wine

Units

Galley (West)
must go back to Whales-3S1W and then upgrade with 1 movement pt left.
Sushi exec must board now, T175.

T175 upgrade to galleon with 110g

exec's destination: (the one in whales) = Berlin is the execs destination, but he walks from Hamburg, so the Galleon goes to Hamburg.
then head back to profits

Caravel 2
Send the exec to HAMBURG. Exec walks to Mecca (carefully)

Galley 1 (cows)
ferry units to clams west
prioritize 2 chariots. they will go 1st to pillage HRE before German culture spreads too widely.

Galley 2
move towards Cows deer 2S and get units to profits.

caravel 1 and trireme
move to 3S1E of canal and heal

All Sitting Bull + HRE demands will be denied
All AI demands will be discussed with team if possible

-Bismark is useless after getting rep-parts? What else are we expecting from him? steam power? There is no need to put extra eps on him?

Check the happiness in each city especially the smaller ones. Prevent unhappy face by working extra specialists.
-clams will be the smallest city for a long time, keep silver 1 pop smaller than whales will give whales +3 . Do it when whales is about to reach happiness cap.

Stop workers near Science every turn.

fire auto-assigned specialists like spy or priest
no merchants in cities other than silver and clams.
run scientists only except when building observatory in science.

If we don't need the gold, I vote no.

I assume that we'll build the Cathedral closer to the end of the game rather than wasting early hammers on it, right?

Do we want to put OF into the Globe Theater (i.e. finish Theater by hand and then OF Harbor and Uni into GT) so that Whales can make use of the abundance of food there?

As long as Peter is just putting +1:espionage: on us.
//*Eps to HRE

Both Pete and Biz started putting EPs on us. Keep an eye on both of them.

Yes, I think stealing from SB (assuming our Spy survives) may be a better use than putting them on HRE (which is a fake war for the most part).

If Peter picks physics next, discuss with the team.

We're on a Mass Media beeline. Can we afford to wait that long for Peter to tech Physics? I think the free GS will partially make up for duplicating Pete's research for the handful of turns it takes us to tech it ourselves.

Check every turn
Did Peter spend more than 1 :espionage:against us? If so adjust slider.
And Biz.

T175~ preserve 1S-canal forest
This is low priority. It can't cause regrow, so it's only +1 happy. But Canal is one of our larger cities, so maybe it needs the happy. Not much else to do and you're right there.
------------------------------
Watch for badly auto-assigned specialists like spies, priests, and citizens. Even engineers, while ok for certain cities, we don't always want one and the governor loves them.
If Peter picks physics next, discuss with the team.
I thought about this, and I think he'll be too slow. What would we research? MassMedia would be delayed til T210. Instead, we race him easily, and he should switch to Communism once we get Physics.
Galley (West)
T175 upgrade to galleon with 110g
This galley moved out of position. It must go back to Whales-3S1W and then upgrade with 1 movement pt left.
Sushi exec must board now, T175.
Sushi spread is T176 in Berlin.
T178~ obs-Hero epic(should I use OF to accelerate HE?)
I think so. Either save the temple-> HE for later or put HE around 195/200 so we can finish it whenever.
If we don't need the failgold
we should do some more HE in Whales
Do we want to put OF into the Globe Theater
I like doing the observ first if we can. Probably should think about if we can live without Globe. We do have +3 happy with gold silk.
Hopefully it gets a forest and 2nd preserve.
I say, if it gets close to angry, we just work 7 specialists + silver, fur, horse and growth is managed. That's size 13 and Whales should be happy.

179 Bismarck. Bureau? or caste? (not both) . Trade him Philo.

I think we should increase our specialists in Science City to 10.
That way we get our Great Person in 8 turns.
I don't mind if Observatory is 1 turn late as long as we can double bulb Electricity fully.

I am in favor of quickly getting Heroic Epic in Silver City close to completion.
Running out of money before we complete Mass Media would be bad!
Cashing in Heroic Epic whenever we need it is more important than fastest possible Observatory since our :hammers: in Silver City is a bit low.

Should we use both Galleys to ferry units from Sitting Bull to the road east of Clam City?
I don't think just 1 Galley has enough carrying capacity to move our army over with good speed.
