[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Home Slices

Our bpt went up quite a bit faster than I was expecting!! Good job getting all of the Observatories built so quickly, MG. I always struggle with determining my end date because things seem to accelerate at the end of the game much faster than I predicted. I'm wondering now if finishing the last few buildings will be our critical path more than our tech rate...

We also have to dial in the exact mechanics of the UN. It seems like every time I play a diplo game I forget some of the finer points of how it works (e.g. the timing of the votes, what % of votes are allowed, etc.).

Look at that score jump on the graphs. The power of Sushi! I was wondering how long it would take for us to match PR's score... It looks like we'll blow past them during Kait's turnset.

If Germany gets all of the HRE cities, he might actually become bigger than Peter, right? Also, at Germany grows, Peter's % of the world population will go down. Should we try to help Germany get as many cities as possible?

EDIT: I guess we don't want the war to end or else we lose the mutual military struggle bonus, right?

I don't think he can pass Peter, which is a good thing. We don't want that.
I'd rather try to get Louis and Sal to settle more islands while Bis takes HRE.
However, if we see a city is about to fall, I would rather try to take the 100 conquest gold and let him re-settle the land.
We also have to dial in the exact mechanics of the UN.
Kait put up a good game plan for this. We will have to revive that soon.

If all wars end, we can sign defensive pact.

There's another option to contain Peter, the privateers. It requires copper or iron though.

Kait, what is your plan for playing? Are you planning to have a PPP up today and play tomorrow? The reason I ask is that weekends are out for me (especially Labor Day weekend) so depending on how long your turnset takes, I may have to swap with WT and play on Monday.

I think the game almost plays itself as I mentioned before. Once we've agreed on the final tech path (which I think we have), and any final builds in any of the cities, the rest of the game is about harassing HRE, assigning the correct specialists, building relations to Pleased, etc. I think MG got us over the hump and it's largely downhill from here.

Wishful thinking. By the time he's got time on his hands, we'll have to teach him how to play Civ again... kinda like me in the last few SGOTMs. ;)

EDIT: Kait and I could play lucky 13 turns each...
