[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Home Slices

To keep +3 war with Louis, we need to keep the HRE war going until the final turn (meaning we can't get conquer gold for the island) Or maybe we can take it after the vote is called for, the turn before they announce the win. That would make it still useful for research.

Sal and Louis are both 10 techs for +1 so we need 20 techs for +2 and a couple extra in case of decay.
So about every 3-4 turns, we have to trade them something.

But as you said (above), need to get Louis above someone on the scoreboard too.

I'm confident we have enough techs to bribe Saladin or Bismarck to Cease Fire with HRE if Aachen is about to be destroyed.
Sal and Bis should have more Soldiers than Charlemagne, so they won't say "I'd love to, but you'll have to talk to the other guy"

Louis should have trouble conquering a city so far away.

I think conquering that juicy island city soon should be ok.

Ya, I can feed Louis and Saladin a tech every 3-4 turns for :gold: sure.

I think +4 fair trade is pretty rare for AI-AI.
But Louis could ask Peter for a big tech. That would be +5  for +4 Fair Trade and +1 Tribute
Ugh, that would be a disaster.
Let me check the UN votes if the election was held right now and Charlemagne was starved down a 1 pop Aachen through blockade.

301 Votes total, need 62% to win Diplo victory (187/301 votes to win)

We vote for us: 90 votes
Peter votes for Peter: 70 votes
Sitting Bull abstains: 1 vote
Charlemagne abstains: 1 vote
Louis votes for Peter: 37 votes
Bismarck votes for us: 51 votes
Saladin votes for us: 51 votes

We have 192/301 votes, we win diplo victory by the skin of our teeth. :undecide:

I wonder if we don't put Peter in FreeReligion T195, maybe he won't ever take it on his own?
And we never give Liberalism to Louis (to block FreeReligion.) Sal's only wonder is Paya, so Louis doesn't have that option.

If Bismarck/Sal take 2 more HRE cities and Louis settles 2 islands, we almost don't need Peter to not be in Merc for trade routes.
I think there's a good chance he will have Communism by T195, so we could roll the dice and let him pick civics. That keeps him out of Emancipation until 220 also.

Maybe the (non-Peter) AI would also settle SB's south area if we give Astro to more of them. Especially if we give them Physics so they can see the Uranium.
Reveal Oil so they settle that ice-island.

Really? 62% only?

Ya, never bribe Peter into Free Religion.
Never give France Liberalism
Nobody gets Gunpowder so they can't get Chemistry and Privateers.

Try to get Astronomy to Germany and Arabs soon.

I'm almost certain UN diplo win is 62%.
I've only ever done a few of them though.

The United Nations

Let's start with the wonder itself. It is available fairly late in the game, with the mass media tech. Once built, the person who built it and the person who is #1 in population are the candidates for chair. If the person who built it is also #1 in population, the other candidate is #2 in population.

The chair, once elected, gets to propose resolutions. Many of these are useful, but the focal point of the article is the one at the top of the resolution list: diplomatic victory. This resolution calls a vote between the two candidates that would be eligible for chair, and with enough votes (just over 60% of the world's population), the favored civ wins the game.
The threshold in testing slid between 60% to 62%. Not sure why.
I'm almost sure 62% wins the game.

Wait, we want Louis ahead of Saladin on the scoreboard.
Let's only feed Arabs techs up to Astro slowly, and then stop.

We don't need +1 Diplo with Saladin.

Actually, we can gift our only Horse to France in addition to Fur.

That way we can keep our extra whale later.

Does anyone else agree that we won't need Horse at all for the next 10 turns?

Sure, gift horse, but still....why not gift whale too (later)?
Louis has had our Wine for 7 turns.

Fur+Horse will get us +2 shared resources in 31 more turns or T213.
The UN victory vote will likely be T219.

I think we can shop around with our whale later for :gold: per turn as long as Louis gets 3 resources now on T182.

I'd like to get Bismarck and Sal up to +2 res ASAP. Then we can cancel most of those and (if we ever need/want to) give everything to Louis for Iron (after IronWorks) Or is Ironworks being completed on the last turn due to its unhealthy?

Ok, but how is Sal doing with +2 resources?
We have traded Sal fur+silver for 7 turns to get silk and gold.
We have traded Sal wheat to get 5:gold: per turn for 1 turn.

We can expect +2 resources with Sal in 29 more turns or T211.

Bismarck has Deer, fur, and wine from us for 7 turns.
He also has silver from us for 1 turn.

We can expect +2 shared resources with Bis in 20 more turns or T202.

Ironworks will be completed as soon as we confirm we have Coal.

The 50% production bonus is quite nice with only 2 unhealthiness in the late game.

With no coal it should be put off until the end of the game unless we need engineers for some reason.

On to Turn 183!
