Dead end down south, AWWwwww

More shots from T108
Spoiler :

Dang, I was counting on the new 4AI to give us Iron Working.

Sitting Bull won't trade it to us after he meets Peter, only once we are Friendly with Sitting Bull I think.

Peter will trade techs at Annoyed, but not if Sitting Bull is his worst enemy.
I don't think -2 is enough when they meet for Peter to be Annoyed and Worst Enemy with Sitting Bull, just the lower end of Cautious.

Sitting Bull trades techs at Cautious, and he will only be -1 with Peter once they meet.

Peter and Sitting Bull will probably tech trade I think until Peter hits -3 with Sitting Bull 8 turns after they meet and maybe SB becomes his worst enemy.

Punished again for exploring.
I suppose our galley doesn't have time to come back and pick up chariot. If we're paying unit or supply cost, we murder him too.
No one needs an MP unit, right?

Math for 10
Mono for 50

Does that mean Peter would switch to OrgRel on T117? or 112? or ?

Dang, I thought Peter would have settled the copper site. That's where our 3rd missionary coulda gone
Peter has a galley on top of our galley now.
7E1N of Rostov.
Wait! What was this galley doing? Dropping off settler for copper?!
I can't think of any other reason it would be out this far.

T107 - Move 2N2E (Regretable we don't have time to unfog the corner, but we can at least see if it is coastal or not)
there was time to unfog the tile last turn and still is this turn, right? If you sail S - N , wasting this turn, you're still in position T109 for pickup 1 tile West of your current plan.
Missionaries are not delayed at all.

Agreed. I've never seen a map where exploration actually hurts more than helps. Where is that post LC bookmarked? ;)

i’m not familiar with this factor. I thought the only factor was the percentage of AI’s that know the tech. And for SB cautious with us.

Nope, chariot it is on its own.
It can probably explore the island fully for our map and perish.

Peter is scheduled to naturally change civics after his 25 turn timer runs out from Hereditary Rule inbetween T94 and T95.

Our bribe to bureau and caste was early enough not to affect the timer, so Peter will change civics again ibt T120 and 121 I think.

Galley was going south I think.
Might have been just exploring.
If there is a Settler our missionaries will see it soon.

Missionaries are not delayed at all.
My current path picks the missionaries up T110 and drops them off T111.

Exploring that tile last turn or this turn causes the missionaries to get picked up T111 and dropped off T112.
That has to be slower for the missionaries, right?

The galley could make it up for the first 2 by sailing farther west, but then the 3rd missionary is a step slower.

I thought all the pesky restrictions we deal with to trade, all the AI have to also?

But now that you mention it, I don't really know how the AI trade with each other. :o

Agreed
With 60 more gold, we can definitely go 100% slider again right now.
The question is, for what?

I don't think we are hurt by all the dead ends.
No one reached the 4AI before us by picking a lucky direction.
We know exactly what to do, tech Optics.

Maybe chop a caravel out at Cow City?
It still has forests.
If we partial build a Trireme, will it change to caravel when we unlock Optics?

I think those rules apply to AIs trading with each other, but SB cautious with us is enough to get IW.

???

I’ve often thought that an interesting SG would involve the map maker studying weak teams and comparing that to strong teams and designing the scenario to reward so-called weak team mistakes.
I was referencing this post as a smart a$$ comment.

Exploration and map knowledge has often been a strong suit of this team. Interestingly, it didn't pay in this scenario. Hopefully the sacrifices we made in an attempt to gain this knowledge don't end up biting us.

In fact, the best case in this game would have been to ignore exploring SB and ignore the island in the North Sea and just send an early wb to the NW and met Peter early on. Any team that did this would have a slight advantage in this game.

If we partial build a Trireme, will it change to caravel when we unlock Optics?
I just tested this and the answer is no. A trireme upgrades to a caravel for gold but once we learn Optics, we can still build both a trireme and a caravel. It's not until we learn Chemistry and have access to Iron that a trireme build becomes a frigate build.

We could built a trireme and upgrade it to a caravel for 50 gold if we want though.

Actually, now that you mention it, how about I download the save and do the tech trades?

Math to SB for 10:gold: + his map.
Monotheism to Peter for 50:gold: + his map.

There might be some extra roads or a new city in Peter's land that might affect our galley exploring that final tile or not.

What's more important? Staying on the Sushi beeline right now or diverting to the Optics line? We will get IW in trade should we consider MC next? It would be nice to get that in trade...

EDIT: Optics is on the Sushi beeline. :)

I think we've already agreed to make these trades (right???) so I see no harm in doing it while we're planning the next mini turnset. I vote yes to the trades but maybe wait for other opinions.

Now is when we want to know what Peter is teching so we don't duplicate his research, right?

Can we discuss using the EP slider at 100% on Peter now?
