T204. spread to Prague? T206?
This is a good thought.
We don't actually need Moscow, just a foreign city like Prague. :)

Galley -> Caravel -> Galleon
Might be able to push 1 turn sooner than T204 hmm

14 or 15 turns to spend the cash would be better than 10.

Now I'm worried about Scientist pollution in Science City.
Great Merchant would be 80% chance?
Ugh, wish we'd seen the debt problem more clearly 4 turns ago.

Bank is 6 turns to construct I think thanks to our overflow from spy.

I think we lose more than 99:science: since our science multiplier is 235%.

Don't we lose (3*12)*3.35 = 121:science:?

EDIT: Loss of 121 agrees with Kait's numbers...
Right, 121:science: each turn for 19 turns = 2299:science:

And then 9*3.35 = +30:science: per turn and +1hammers: per turn while Great Scientist is settled in our capital.
15 turns is +450:science:

Assuming every :gold: is worth 1.8:science:, and we think we will run out of gold in about 10 turns, the math indicates if we can really spend 1500:gold: in 15 turns (I think we can) we should try for the Great Merchant.

If we get Great Scientist, we settle it either way.

But if we go for Bank + Great Merchant and get Great Scientist, we are -2300:science: and +889:gold: after subtracting out 200:hammers: for building the bank.
The gold would be worth 889*1.8 = 1600:science:

So if we go for it and get Great Scientist, -700:science:
If we go for it and get Great Merchant and can spend 1500:gold:, then +2700:science:

This value plummets if the AI can feed us lots of gold from T205 to T220 and we have more than we can spend.

We must also consider the monolith that is the UN.
If we start building UN T200 because we lower our :science: rate now to pursue cash, then even if we can skyrocket our :science: post Great Merchant, the UN will get built T216 I think and victory will be T223.
This is a strong point. Slowing now to accelerate later is not ideal. And like you said, we have to spend the GM gold (plus any tech trade gold) all in the final 15 turns. And failgold could land that late too. :hmm:

I think this would start no later than T198 and we could finish it in 15 turns with 2 chops. T213. Victory 220 (if other research is done).

But there is probably no way we can get the remaining 40,000:science: done in 22 turns, so accelerating at the end is a good thing.
I guess that means I want to go for the GM, kinda, sorta...

Unless... what kind of tech trade income are we getting lately? and can we predict that? Usually, late game like this, the AI is pretty consistent with offering cash.

I've tried pushing the Great Person in Science City to the extreme.
Chopping the far northern forest early for 6 Turn Bank and starving the capital now can get 1800GPP in 16 turns instead of 19. (T202)
Bringing the 2nd Galley over from Canal after dropping off 2 workers to lumbermill can get it over to 1SW of Cow City on T201.

Then Galley 1 sails northwest -> Galley 2 sails northwest -> Caravel sails southwest -> Galleon sails west.
Then west 5 more spaces on T203 into the city.
We drop the Great Merchant in a city with a harbor on T203, and get 1700:gold:

It is extremely labor intensive to calculate and keep track how much cash the AI will offer.
France will tend to offer a lot, Peter a medium amount, and the rest peanuts.

I like peanuts. I didn't know they were available!!

I'm also on board with the GM push in Science. It seems to solve a few issues with balancing the budget short-term and having cash for the late-game tech push.

Is Whales gonna cap itself at size 15 and stop working coast? Oh, ya, that's in the PPP, sorry.
Profit could work 1 more moai tile (instead of priest) and grow the same time aqueduct is done. Then probably grow 1 more. or more than that?

briefly, why is France so good? and the others not?
How much :gold: an AI will trade depends mostly on total population and turns the player has known them.
But the biggest factor is iMaxGoldTradePercent
Only Louis and Mansa are valued at 20
Peter and Charlemagne are valued at 10
Bismarck, Sitting Bull, and Saladin are valued at 5

So if all 6 AI had identical populations, and we knew them all for 100 turns, and their expenses were low, and they all had 10,000:gold: in their bank, then:
Bismarck + Saladin + SB would be willing to trade us x :gold:
Peter and Charlemagne would be willing to trade us 2x :gold:
Louis would be willing to trade us 4x :gold:

Since Louis is Industrious and tends to end up with a lot of fail gold because he always building wonders, he is the king of having a lot of :gold: to trade!

Profit is staying at Size 14 because if it grew to Size 15 it would take +3 :) away from Whale City and cause problems.

Clam is only going to Size 14 because that is as big as it can naturally grow before UN.
It might be able to grow bigger, but I'd have to check with Silver City. :hmm:
Yes, perhaps Clam to Size 15 is the way to go.

Yes, that puts it at its health cap. Good stopping point.
Actually, when we chop the 2 forests, the natural health cap goes down to 14.

If we put 62:hammers: into a Warrior the turn before UN, we start with 37:hammers: overflow the next turn due to the strangeness of overflow caps.
An easy way to get UN in 14 turns :)

I'm thinking Size 14 for Clams is best now, preferably with an almost full :food: bin on the turn we start UN.
