[BTS] SGOTM 26 - The Indecisive

Pretty certain that is lvl 4.

Let us play five turn so that we can be certain we have found all resources in NW.

Cactus Pete. Were you not the active player?

I thought that the test results would determine who plays out their test, but I will play a few turns, if you wish. (Not sure why you think it will take 5 turns, not 3, to learn what is off the western peninsula's shore,) If I play those few turns, I will switch monument to wkbt in Vienne for use in 6R, as per my approach. Don't think that will be incompatible with your approach. It allows quicker founding of 6R, since a wkbt will be available there sooner.

Workboat investigating Marble island should probably not do much exploring, if we decide to settle another NW coastal city fairly soon. We can build another wkbt to explore south in good time, if there is land to explore there.

Do think that, if we go with your approach, you should play the turns, rather than trying to explain all the subtleties to me or anyone else who chooses to show up.

Played the turns. There is another crab bounty and whales in the NW.

Anxious to learn thoughts on our fifth city being located there.

I got this error message when I tried to open the saved file below from central:
Google Chrome blocks downloads
Chrome automatically blocks harmful downloads that try to cause problems on your computer, like:

  • Giving you viruses
  • Leaking your private data
  • Changing your browser and computer settings
  • Adding unwanted extensions or toolbars to your browser
Why the download was blocked
Your file download may have been blocked for one of two reasons:

  • We think it might be a malicious, unwanted, or uncommon file.
    • Malicious: You tried downloading malware.
    • Unwanted: You tried downloading a deceptive piece of software. This program, disguised as a helpful download, may actually make unexpected changes to your computer.
    • Uncommon: You tried downloading an unfamiliar and potentially dangerous piece of software.
  • We've found that the website you tried to download the file from has been known to distribute malware.
Not sure what to make of this. Never happened before, but I wasn't using Chrome when playing before. Any ideas.

Weird, I see the same on Chrome but not on Edge.

I've removed the link for your post, thanks for flagging this up.

Great to see what was uncovered NW. Settler2 still needs to go 4N1W to reveal a few ocean tiles and one more tile on the island north of us.
Understood. Unless folket checks in, I will play a few more turns in 24 hours, using my approach, and reveal those tiles, along with the marble island.

Hi. Finally figured out how to post from my phone. Sorry about that. Been out biking for four days now. I will return on Friday. I trust that anything you agree on with shulec is correct play. I would love a picture of the new resources.

Thanks for checking in. You've learned a trick I don't know. New resources are not optimally located, but I will attempt a screen shot. Appreciate your trust. If Shulec concurs, I will push forward, as we are way behind.

That's a lot of biking. Trust you'll return invigorated, not totally innervated, and ready to Civ. What scenery are you enjoying?

Played turns to reveal rest of land (found nothing). Save posted at Central. Two screenshots posted: one of NW peninsula and seacoast; the other of marble-plus-stone island. (Not sure why I got two copies of the island, but couldn't get rid of it. Moderator Action: Removed extra picture --NZ )

Still inclined to settle 6R and Canal City as tested, but would certainly like to get some feedback before continuing,

Go ahead. Seeing most of the crap island south of us with the marble and stone takes away my concern about keeping 2-3 settlers for another site. Settling canal, 6R and the far NW looks good to me.
Thinking we might want to do some testing before we settle the far NW city, but I will move us forward, then wait for folket to rejoin us.

Looks like the best way to deal with Resource Island (RI, from now on) will be to settle in the middle and expand to include both stone and marble. That would mean waiting until we can speed expansion. Thoughts on that . . .

Turn 27 (2920): 6R wants join German empire turn after city founded

Turn 28: AH research is completed, and we find horses in useful locations, including 1E of Bib.

Going to pause game, so team can discuss future plans.

Save made at Central. Screen shots of horses below:

IR is a trap. Not enough food or hammers to produce the things we need in that city to meet the requirements for SGOTM. I guess the stone and marble could be used for fail gold, but I think the price is too high.

It's an interesting map feature. Maybe iron and/or copper turn up there.

I probably agree regarding the RI. But getting a city of our starting island is a lot of gold in trade routes. Hopefully the land to the west is better.
