Got it, but ..... STOP THE PRESSES!!

C-H's save and Bede's save have the same ending date, which I suspect means that C-H replayed Cappy's turns!

Holding off for confirmation and instructions on what we do now.
 
OK, got it. I'll try to run the turns tonight.

Before I start, I know we need Airfields, but it looks like any airfield will have to replace another improvement (unless I'm missing some unimproved tiles). I'm quite sure that if I choose which tiles I'll choose wrong, so could I get some guidance?

Another odd thing, I thought that we were at war with the Ottomans. We're not.

Once we have Motorized Transport, do we go for Amphibious Warfare (and the Marines we're going to need eventually) or Communism?

Finally, We have some techs the Americans and Ottomans don't, but neither one of them has anything to trade for them. Are we still in a gifting mood?
 
Plant your airfields wherever you want (outside towns that are potential bombing targets asre good places as you can then put a fighter in for air coverage and the AI tends to ignore the airfield) and then rebuild the improvement, it is best to use a mined plains as you won't get any food shortage effects.

1 1792: Seven Airfields built, 4 on home continent (near Sarpsborg, Vadso, Crazybeard's Crazy City, and Carthage Meat #3 respectively) , 3 on Spanish continent (near Honnigsvag, Thunderfall, and Pamplona respectively). We have lots more captured workers to make more. We have lots of workers for whatever purpose. We had several Pollution spills which were cleaned up the same turn.

2 1794: We bomb, they bomb, nothing special.

3 1796: IBT: Source of some Bombers identified as Tolosa. Tolosa now on target list.

4 1798: Turned science slider to 0%, netting us ~400 g
IBT: We now have Motorized Transportation, since we already have Communism, I aim for Amphibious Warfare.

5 1800: India has finally reached the Middle Ages.
IBT: Celtic Invasion force pulls up near Vadso. The baby civs cling to each other for protection:

6 1802: Bungle attack on CIF*, Transport is still there, although RL.
IBT: CIF does not move or unload!

7 1804: Send CIF to Davey Jones, no landing.
IBT: CIF2 pulls in, Marine dies assaulting Madville (they may be after the airport).

8 1806: CIF2 sent to Davey Jones
IBT: American Frigate (!) appears near Batsfjord

9 1808: Frigate now toothpicks.
IBT: CIF3 + CIF4 land near Toledo. 6 units including a Mobile SAM and a Cavalry (!)

10 1810: Man, we have a lot of Artillery. All units redlined with Artillery, then taken out with ground troops. Recon planes find the ships from CIF 3 + 4, they are now redlined, but I couldn't sink them.

Repeating some points from earlier post:
*We will have Amphibious Warfare as soon as the next player hits [Enter]. Science slider down to 10% to reduce waste.
*Celts have displayed Marines, Mobile SAMs, and Jet Planes.
*Flak units built on home continent are being shuttled to Spanish continent as quickly as possible. Bombing concentrates on Keflavik, Thunderfall, and Karasjok, so concentrate Flak there.
*I've tried to put 2 Fighters on every Airfield; one for CAP and one for Recon. More CAP would be good, but we have to replace lost Bombers.
*The New Copenhagen/Karasjok shuttle has been unmolested, but I'm sitting a Cruiser at the point where the ships have to pause.
*Once the ships get to Karasjok, they are vulnerable to Celtic Bombers. Be certain to unload troops as soon as you land. If transporting in Galleons, this means using the "Wake Transported" trick.
*Once we're ready for offensive action, the East Isle should be our first objective, then perhaps Tolosa.

Our situation is not much different from when I got the turnset. We've lost a lot of Bombers, but Brennus has lost a lot of ships. There is now an Infantry Army on each continent

*Just to establish that I know better, proper procedure is redline with Artillery where feasible, then send the Bombers in.

Unless Bede says different, I think madviking should take the next turnset.

Although we have to get that bottom row of Techs, and get them soon, I think Espionage will serve us better than Medicine. It's obvious that Brennus has it and is using it.

Of course, spies are expensive to create and even more expensive to use, so perhaps we don't want to bother with the tech.

Are we switching to Communism? If so, when?

Speaking of mobilization and Spaceship parts, AlanH needs our save when madviking is finished. (See maintenance thread)

There needs to be a mandatory hold while the staff adjusts the files. I will PM them tonight (6:00PM EST) to pick up the most current file on the server for adjustment. If mv doesn't post by then it is a skip but Bahz will have to wait for the staff to announce that the file is adjusted before playing. See the SGOTM maintenance thread for details

Got the updated save. Will look at it then check back for any advice before I play.
 
I'm not sure we're ready for offensive action yet, but if we are, the East Isle has to be taken back.

Any attempted landing can be pretty well crushed, especially with the amount of Artillery we have sitting around, but be careful about leaving Artillery + Workers in coastal tiles. Similarly, make sure all coastal cities are defended.

More planes and more Flak until we control the skies, at least over our own lands.

Brennus is not contesting sea routes yet, but we won't be able to give much of a fight if he does.
 
Preview of the save at a glance.

1. Santander is undefended and will build a inf in 72 turns. (abondon it or give it to Osman as a gift?)

2. Both Airfields with aircraft on Old Spain are undefended by ground units. Western Airfield is on the coast.

3. Mongalhammer and Twonky's Outlook are building Settlers. (Keep building or change to something we need?)

4. New Coppenhagen, Elverurn, Svolvaer and Odense are all undefended. Svolvaer and Odense are prone to Airborne take overs if the AI builds them.

5. AmpWar in 1, Tech options after it comes in are Fascism, Medicine, Espionage and Ironclads. (Espionage is what I intend to research unless someone tells me otherwise)

My objective this turn set is to bomb anything that Brennus leaves out for us to bomb, defend Old Spain and The Homeland, while building up our Forces.

Any more advice will be welcome.
 
Espionage is more useful to us than anything.

Cash rush some flak in Old Spain and use it cover the airfields, they only cost 70 shields or so, so you can use some shields in the bins for whatever else is being built over there, and can probably do the whole thing for less than 150g.

Don't know why we would even need to mess with the little island to the east.

You won't see any kind of airborne action from the AI, at least I never have. It is also doubtful you will even see Marines make amphib landings, though I amy be wrong about that one.

Keep the faith and keep Brennus at war. See if you can't get Abe up to speed as well.

Notes: moved majority of Transports into inner sea near Odense for loading of Tanks, Arty's and Infantry. 1 Transport of Tanks, 2 of Arty so far. More Transports closing in for the loading also. 2 Battleships, 2 Cruisers and 1 Destroyer in the Indian Sea. Need to build more ships for this Task Force as it will be the Guardians of the Assault troops on the Celts. Used Fighters for Recon duty to find the enemy ships so I could bomb them.
Brennus has 1 submarine as far as I can tell, but it left the area it sank the 2 transports in by the time the destroyers showed up to kill it. There's 2 Celtic Destroyers and 1 Transport N of where Spain use to be. 1 Destroyer is RL'd but other is Full HP and got lucky and killed the 3 bombers on the last turn. Should load up 3 or 4 transports with Infantry for the invasion of Celtic Lands. Transport with the Army on it is with the Battleships.
Keep using the Fighers for Recon of the sea. Don't bother trying to bomb Brennus's Land as he has a better chance of shooting us down with his jets.
