People can still sign up in the normal way, though once the games are properly underway I may have to draw a line in the sand.

Sure thing.

Most of the teams are playing 1.29f (vanilla). If you can play vanilla then you will have a greater choice of games.
Just let me know which type of game you want and which software version and what difficulty level you normally feel comfortable playing, and I'll try to find the most appropriate team for you.
You can let me know by posting here or by sending me a PM, which you may not have had much experience with yet.

I have the Civilization III Gold Edition™. to which I have added the files to play GOTM 30. I am playing the Open save file, it is the first game I have played on a more difficult level than Warlord. not doing as well as I would like but it is not quite hopeless, and I seem to be making slow progress on catching the AI, currently 5 of 8, up from last place. I am unsure if I am able to use vanilla.

Hmmm. I am not familiar with Gold Edition. Normally, if you can plya PTW you can also play vanilla (original civ 1.29f). The only reason you wouldn't be able to is if you were no longer in posession of the original "vanilla" civIII CD.

There is no panic for time, so what I would ask you to do is try to start a vanilla game, then let me know. Note, you don't need the GOTM download packs for this months succession game.

When you posted you didn't say that you wanted to play IIRC GK.

But yes, of course you can play. What do you want AW, AW+5CC, OCC+AW (please) or multi-victory?

That's because you didn't say that it didn't require downloading GOTM files which I've been slacking off on doing for so very very long.

An OCC AW?? That's downright suicidal, and only attepted by people who are gluttons for punishment! Sign me up!

I was wondering as the fair-play guy I am (I rooted for Bjorn Borg alright!), when will there be an update on how teams fare?

Of course we have to have some rules for that too. I avoid the other teams threads easily, but there can be people who just want to have a sneak-peak, which can't be denied even with a threat of death-penalty.

This is an honor-game (except those cheating Staff-people) and a date when certain teams reach the MA etc would be greatly appreciated. Maybe scores when all teams are there can be compared and such.

Just throwing ideas around, don't bother, ignore me as you please...I still have fun.

What you ask for will be done. At the moment I am only prepared to publish data up to the turns that all the teams have reached (if you see what I mean). I am not sure if this is feasible with 8 teams since the rate of turnaround varies so much, and I'm not sure to what extent the data is spoiler info anyway. I'm thinking about it.

Since the forum software has been updated recently it is (apparently) technically possible to create private forums for the teams. There are issue with this and I have no idea whether it will ever happen. What I can say is that although I cannot prevent the staff browsing their opponents game threads, I can certainly prevent them discussing other games.

The variety of games being played, the fact that map info can be obtained from the original spoilers and the fact that external information can't be discussed in the game threads, is enough for me ATM. In the future when things become more competetive and the whole concept gets bedded in perhaps we can talk about policing. For now lets just have some fun eh?

I was thinking just OCC and conquest, when I and my imaginary friends was going to play this game.

But hey, this takes the prize! I'm really laughing and somehow regret I didn't go for my lone OCC.

I wish you dudes the best luck in the world. And I can't even sneak-peak...that's too tempting!

Luck?? We'll need at least 4 AIs(assuming there's 7) to disband their settlers the first turn to have a shot.

I'm of the opinion that this variant is as close to impossible as it gets(at regent & above). I've been playing DI1 for god knows how long & we're still going to "lose" that one(probably ), and that's with 3x the production.

Are thier any teams that need another person. I would really like to join but i'm only now moving up to regent in single player and i have never played any viariants. I am just afriad i might mess everyone up . I didn't bother to read the other posts becuase i'm kninda in a hurry ATM

OK, I'll start a new team. There may only be three of us on it though. It's no a problem for me, but we'll have to be gentle with each othe because the turns will come round quick.
