SGOTM8 Maintenance Thread - Hydrophobic Americans.

OT - Well eldar, the expiration date is like 3 or 5 years in most cases, but if you keep your rubbers in your car or exposed to heat in that kind of way, they do expire.

As I've been wandering the lonely corridors of SGOTM Towers, listening at closed doors to some fascinating conversations, I sense that some players may not have read all of the incredibly useful information supplied by mad-bax in the SGOTM Reference Thread.

I've picked you up on a few points, and some teams have corrected themselves, but it would be wise for all team players to read and understand the mods in this game. When you are half way through your turn set, it may be a bit late to discover you can't build airfields in PTW, or that huts never pop settlers. ;)

Your team start saves will be available on this page at midnight tonight, server local time, which is about GMT - 6. Enjoy your games, and play nice with each other :D

Could we perhaps have a clarification on the difficulty level? Is it decided yet?

it's emperor, they said it on the first page

Nope, it says "Emperor, or possibly Monarch", hence my question. :p

Ah, thanks. Perhaps updating the first post (and the first posts of team threads) would be a good idea so that lazy bastards like me also find it. :crazyeye:

That requires lazy bastards like me to go through 16 threads and make changes when I've been up all night preparing the saves and I then have a day job to sleep through ;)

Seriously, I'll generally try to change other posts to reflect updates, but don't count on it. Please subscribe to this thread and read every post. This is where all changes will be notified.

[EDIT] I've updated the first post in each team thread (I think), and in this one.

And we are sleeping thru our day jobs to play it.

LOL I for one really appreaciate all you do as a monitor. Keeping the site in order, setting up games and such....

Then still keeping track of all 16 thread to see what the teams are up to....

Fun or no fun in this or other games... All hail to the moderators of CFC and (S)XOTM
  :salute: :hatsoff: :thanx: :worship:  and more....

For anyone who hasn't played SGOTM before, and for those who may have forgotten, here's a reminder of the procedure for uploading saves to the server and passing them between team players:

For each turn set

- When you have played your turn set, save the game manually. Do NOT try to upload an auto-save as they are too big.

- Go to the SGOTM Submission page.

- Fill in your forum name, as it appears next to all your posts, and as listed in the Team List post - they should be the same - click the file selection button, and select the save file on your hard drive.

- Click Upload and wait for the feedback that confirms your current game status and provides a server URL for your uploaded file.

- You can copy the server URL and paste it into your turn log post between tags (no spaces) to provide a convenient download link for the next player in your team.

- The next team player can download the file either using the link in your turn log or by clicking the "Latest Save" link on the SGOTM Progress and Results page.

- Lather, rinse and repeat.

For the final turn set

- When you have finished the game - win or lose, let the victory screens play through and then click "Lemme play a few more turns". Save the game at this point and upload it so that the server can calculate your final result. This save will NOT appear in the Results page until we declare the game over for all teams. This is done to limit spoiler information about victory dates.

- The only exception to this is if you lose by Conquest (you can't play on!). If so, save the game at the end of the final turn played and upload that file. Click the "Conquest Defeat" checkbox on the submission page to indicate that this is your last save.

- If your team decides to abandon the game, please let me know and I will manually adjust the status of the final save.

___________________________________________________

- This system has been used for most of the games and seems to be pretty reliable, but if you have any problems please contact me promptly and I'll help you to sort them out.

Thanks, I wasn't really for sure how it was done. Looking forward to my first SGOTM!

Having difficulties accessing the mods for SGOTM

I downloaded file SGOTM-C3C.zip to my Conquests\Scenarios folder, I can see that all the resource mods are in there, but when I run the test game (Bede_SG007_BC4000_01.SAV) I dont see any resources. I'm sure I'm doing something dumb, but after 40min trying I just cant find what. :(
PS - I am using C3C - Thanks

It seems the mod creates a directory called SGOTM-C3C instead of one called SGOTM .. rename the folder to fix it
Perhaps AlanH can fix the zip file to contain the correct folder name

I've renamed it and rezipped it. Apologies.
