Shaq requests trade from LA Lakers

I heard on news last night that Carter probably will stay as nobody (Knicks for
instance) have anyone available that would fill up Toronto's arena and that
is what they are demanding.

Shaq makes Miami an instant contender with up-in-coming D. Wade :scan: .
But Lakers got a pretty good deal out of it, especially the 1st round pick.

It blows my mind all this talk of Kobe, He is on TRIAL for sexual assault  . Yet nobody hardly speaks of this as they talk instead of giving him millions of dollars and he may not can even play  . What
is up with that, are they suffering from denial???
Maybe THEY know what we don't. :scan: That he will be free of charge :(

You are probably right. :thumbdown :twitch: :shakehead :gripe:

as i understand it, in the nba a contract is void if he goes to jail--he will not get paided.

in the shaq trade both got hosed, miami made the conferance semi finals last year, now they trade 3 starters off that team. will they go farther with only shaq and wade? the lakers got 3 small forwards to go with kobe and payton, in the west, land of the big men. makes l.a. a version of the dallas mav's--lots of points, nice record, no playoff sucess :(

I don't think Miami got hosed, even Pat Riley said their team was "improved"
and now was a finals contender with Shaq. Shaq is a force, even Larry
Brown said he did not have any idea how to stop him before the finals this
year- everything just seemed to work out for the Pistons. I think he is
motivated, will be in good shape and will be out to prove a point or two  .

Shaq is a one of a kind player, most dominate of his age. And its Eddie Jones, Wade, and Shaq. A great shooter, a great young slasher/shooter, and a dominating center.

I smell Eastern Conferance Finals destination for the Heat!

very important, in 1993 shaq weighted 308, now 388! and eddie jones best years are way behind him. i see them like last years lakers, 2 stars with little or no supporting cast.

miami's current roster;

shaq
e.jones--only 3 who started for a team last year
d.wade

m. doleac
m.allen
z.wang--backups who didn't avg. double figures in pts or rebounds
u.haslem
r.butler

m.freije
a.miralles--this years draft picks
d.wreight

Eddie Jones was the Heats leading scorer last year. And hes still a terrific perimiter shooter, he wont be asked to slash and make his own shot very much.

Plus, theres always the FA that will come for cheap because of Shaq.

well the salary cap is 43 million and shaq makes 28.7 and wants over 30 next year, jones makes 13 million, wade 3 million--they better come cheap :D

Udonis Haslem showed some skills last season as a rookie, so maybe he can do some things as Shaq's sidekick in the frontcourt. Doleac is a servicable backup center. Butler also shows promise. So the Heat have some players besides Shaq, Wade and Jones.

@azale and dgfred: that all depends on Shaq staying healthy and age (and overweight) do not exactly give a positive contribution to staying healthy

Look at the Conferance and Division hes playing against. Really, only the Pacers and Pistons might be able to slow Shaq down.

The Heat are in a division with the Magic, Hawks, Bobcats, Wizards. Not very frightening. Plus, no real big men to challenge Shaq.

This is how I see the Heat:

SHAQ- Extremely MOTIVATED and INSHAPE :wow:

d. wade- slasher, scorer
e. jones- great shooter from perimeter
the rest........

This should be PLENTY!!! :scan:

jones--.370% 3-pt shooter
wade--.300%
team--.357%

they need a shooter to protect shaq or he will be double and triple teamed. i think the kid freije is a shooter--he may get a lot of time early on

jones was a leading 4-pointer, thats actually a pretty good 3 average

I give Shaq 1 good "revenge" season. Even if he does whip himself into shape before
the season starts, all those years of letting himself go to pot during the summer
are already starting to catch up to him (look at his time on the injured list lately).
After this season, I wouldn't be shocked if there's a steep dropoff for him.

the risk with Shaq is that if he misses any time, which is a very real possibility, the heat are toast.... Wade is the only other talent (Eddie Jones is soft).. of course, when it comes to renewing his contract, Shaq's gonna want 30 million a year too... the biggest plus for the heat are the tickets they will sell - Shaq will make them money, though he's gonna want most of it back in his salary
If he stays healthy, it's a great deal... if he gets hurt, basketballwise, the Heat are screwed...

Kobe won't receive any money from his contract if he's convicted...
