I will use my post # 1000 defending ranting and whining. Not that I used 1000 post on it. I mostly used them on constructism and creativism (a word?), shaping others and my own mods for Civ 4.
But defending it because it is democracy (peoples voice) and if you suppress it, the truth shall never be heard. This would be fatal, and while I'm not going to play Civ V anymore (or at least untill something dramatically happens) I still have high hopes for Civ VI.
But if the ranting and whining was suppressed, the developers would never find out that such a big part of the hardcore fanatics, people who played the series since Civ I, people who used 1000 of hours of their own free time to develop mods etc, and people who thought that Civ IV was the best game in the world, was sooo unhappy about the result with civ V that within days after release the forums where flooding in complaints, then Civ VI is going to suck even bigger than Civ V.
But hey! you might say. Look at all these people who actually like Civ V.
But hey!!! 50% who like civ 5 more than civ 4 is just not enough. 60% isnt enough. Even 70% or 80% would still be a disasterous result in the polls.
We're not talking about two completely different titles here. We're talking about a development going all the way from Civ I. And it seems to me (and a whole lot of other people) that this development is going in the wrong direction.
