Hey it could be Hitler's birthday, I ain't sniffing at a paid day off.

That would be the US Republicans
Making Hitler day a public holiday, while Lincoln and JFK get nothing. :mischief:

Come on, give them some credit.

I mean, Hitler was a Catholic, ferchrissake.

I thought the Catholics were the liberals in the US? It would seem that the Democratic party is the only party that gets to be "religious" without any repercussions.

I wonder what kind of public holiday Hitler day would be like ?
I guess there would be saluting, Waffen SS uniforms, maybe some re enactments of Hitler winning WW2 and killing FDR.

Then Obama will be attacked for Death panels, Fema concentration camps and being Hitler (and muslim)

As it happens, the Supreme Court has recently ruled that American employers are not required to pay their employees if they don't feel they should have to.

Unanimously, at that. So much for "progressive" judges, eh?

My big complaint with the recent spate of Supreme Court nominees is an over-focus on cultural wedge issues, but nobody really stands for workers and the broad umbrella of economic lefty stuff. I mean, you hear Obama introducing his nominees and he's all like they are women, they like the gays, and don't worry, the Chamber of Commerce approves!

The result is basically what you would expect.

Just wanted to note that since that post, the yes brigade has been elevated to a nearly 70/30 advantage.

It's a pretty sizable margin.

Although I remember polls where we were getting twice that number of votes, easily. Sometimes 5x. :(

That's not what that article says at all. I'm not saying I agree with the ruling, but you are making it seem way worse than it actually is.

"President Obama's rule has brought upon us a most disastrous calamity. Do you know that the FEMA concentration camps are working at 50% less efficiency since we elected him?"

Here were the dates for 2014. Really, it looks like late March / early April could use an official one even if Easter is unofficially in that range. Or, as I suggested whacking Columbus Day, maybe October.

you've got more than we do....lazy commies

we only have 8-9 (8 are mandatory, the 9th given by most companies around here). Maybe I should go to work in a catholic canton...

Yes, it should.

Perhaps if this certain sketch was mandatory to watch, it wouldn't be.
I'm more partial to the Hitler Parodies.

Oh... Yeah, just because the feds say something is a holiday doesn't mean it is a day off. It's just the President or Congress got together and decided "hey, we want to make this a cool special day beyond even our "blah blah day (*)" days that we make. Sure, some/lot of folks get some of them off, but it certainly is not mandatory, and I think that's a good thing.

So many of our holidays celebrate our capacity for waging war. It's nice to have one honoring someone who promoted civil rights.

btw, Washington's Birthday is sometimes referred to as "Presidents Day" because Abraham Lincoln's birthday falls very near it. It's not meant to commemorate all U.S. Presidents.
