In the discussion on article D some ideas came up to make governors advisors to the MIA instead of being elected. Before you vote I urge you to read the discussion on Article D from this page on.

For sake of clarification: a traditional elected governor position will be the position of a governor as seen in DG4. The alternative is to have him appointed by the MIA.

This poll will be open for 4 days.

Now, the way I understand it is that this new proposal gives the MIA the job that was previously held by Governors, and allowing him, not requiring him, to appoint Governors. Am I correct? If so... WHAT THE SNAFF?! (I hope I'm allowed to say that) Giving one office power over all build queues... NO.

I dont see any problems with the traditional elected govenor possition.

Bad idea. Keep the Governors.

Keep the Governors.... It's likely one of the most important positions in the game. the Domestic (or whatever, not 100% sure what the MIA is) dept. is above the Governors... however he does not have the power to overrule the governor's decision on a whim. In other words it's the Domestic dept's duty to try to get governors in line with national intrests, getting them to build infrastructure when needed or military units when needed (this second point could be seen as the Military Dept's responcibility)

EDIT: and did I mention it's a good position for new people trying to get active in the government or old people trying to retire into jobs lower down the chain of command.

Yes, let's get rid of bureaucracy by giving the MIA power to appoint a bureaucracy to help him appoint governors and do build queues. That'll get rid of the bureaucracy of having elected officials all by themselves.

The idea of having the MIA appoint governors/mayors (with the help of a large bureau of assistants) makes no sense at all. You take the power out of the people, and hand it to the MIA and the bureaucrats. The only possible reason that I can see someone supporting this is if they wanted to run for MIA. ;)

One of the more solid functions of the past 4 DemoGames (once Provincial Borders are established, that is......)

Nothing broken; no fix required.

Ah yes... Remember Term 5, DG5? Aventine vs. Caelian, duking it out for control of Memphis and River Crossing.

I remember that scenario back in T5DG3. My DeLorean has been in the shop, so I can't think back to the future yet. ;)
