Sid avarage start

Very well, good progress. The game is in the bag already. In solo game i would have stopped research after Rep Parts and conquered world with superior numbers of artys/cavs/infantries and the help of mobilization.

Weekend is ok for me to play. Didn't play civ for ~ 3 weeks so I'm looking forward to play :D

I guess that makes me up again. I'll try to start tonight and finish tomorrow, in time for Ignas to play over the weekend. I'll try not to sign any more stupid MAs, MPPs and whatnot.
I am curious are we allowed? [Make MA for gpt?] Since we are in war with Celts our MPP-MA reputation may be OK. If it is so, do not make peace with Celts until MPP lasts.
Since our trade rep gone anyway I recomend false peace with France for Communism for gpt. (After MPP will expire). I think we may stay in Republic.

The deal against Celts expired already, so we are free to make peace with them. However, I would like to hurt them more and they do not part with communism yet (or anything else for that matter).
I would actually sign in Rome against France so that we might be able to eliminate them after taking out 3 cities on our side of the ocean. This is necessary to keep Paris and Lyons for their wonders.

Then we can start to mop up the rest. I also started some temples for border expansion as we already have 44% of the land. We might want to get tp domination limit as fighting Egypt would be just too tedious (conquest)

0) 1180AD
There are still some governors active, I fire them all. I don't understand the courthouse in Madrid; we're not going to do that palace jump now are we? Switched to library, which will benefit us some because of the revenue from wonders. Science can go down a notch. Hire more engineers for the temples.

I switch the US and Hoover builds, to finish Hoover earlier and thus get the benefit earlier.

I wake up the workers near our capital and start improving more cities.

We need 654 tiles to get to domination.

We have 2 more turns to go on the MPP with the Babylonians. I make peace with the Romans and get all their 11 gold, I then give them horses and saltpeter for an MA against the French. I also get 33gpt for furs, incense, silks and gems.

I see now why the Celts have been attacking the others: they don't have a single luxury in their home lands. I'll establish a town where our troops are now, and expand towards the south, trying to get wines and ivory of our own.

IT
England and Egypt sign peace.

1) 1190AD
We get 42gpt from the Romans for iron.

Kill 4 units in Chartres, and the French lose their last foothold on the continent.

IT
Lyons deposes us; there were a lot of muskets in there suppressing resistance.

2) 1200AD
Renew our spices deal with the Egyptians for Astronomy and Democracy.

Retaking Lyons, we get a leader. I lose another army at Dijon. :-( I'm going to fill the armies there with an extra unit, and I'll also ship over some artillery.

Science can go down again.

IT
We go 1-1 during frigate combat with the Celts.

Paris deposes us, with 1 musketman inside. Barcelona riots and I scroll ahead to fix the rest of our cities.

3) 1210AD
Paris is recaptured after killing one rifleman only.

I found Dedijon and ship over some artillery. With their support and after filling two armies, Dijon finally falls.

IT
We win a frigate battle against the Celts, and lose a 3hp privateer to a 1hp privateer.

The Romans want us to ally with them against the Germans, I decline. I give them physics instead for 92gpt and 376g.

4) 1220AD
Scientific Method to the Babylonians gets us wines, 90gpt, and 10g.

IT
Steel comes in, start on refining.

Lyons deposes us, no units lost. The resistance in Grenoble ends.

5) 1230AD
Take back Lyons. Refining is in 7 turns at 80% science.

IT
France declares on the Egyptians. WW goes up.

6) 1240AD
We autoraze Bayonne, which was founded just north of the Dijon ruins.

IT
Lyons deposes us once again, no units lost. France and Celts have Fascism.

7) 1250AD
We once again take Lyon. Kill 7 units and take Amiens. The French have been removed from the island. Only Poitiers on the other continent is left. While clearing out units, get another leader.

IT
We lose an empty galleon to the Celts. The French land some units at Persepolis that have been sailing around forever.

8) 1255AD
Found Celtic Landing on the other continent, rush walls.

IT
We sink 4 Celtic frigates, and lose 3 of our own. Celtic Landing is not attacked.

We complete Hoover Dam.

We get a palace expansion.

9) 1260AD
Just moving units across the ocean... We can build an army in 6 turns now in Niagara Falls. US is due in 3 turns.

IT
We go 1-1 against the Celtic frigates. Resistance in Lyons ends. Rouen deposes us with 2 muskets inside.

10) 1265AD
Finally, one of our privateers enslaves an enemy ship. Start killing units in Coventry.

IT
Rome and Germany sign peace. Celts and Germany sign peace.

11) 1270AD
Found Decoventry. Kill 5 units in Coventry and raze it.

IT
Babylon and Celts sign peace. England and Babylon sign peace.

Refining comes in, start on Combustion. We complete Universal Suffrage.

12) 1275AD
On my last turn, I have to get a leader of course, on the other continent no less.

Hand-off notes
- I think we should continue research until MT, then switch to cash only (sell libraries), and rush units like crazy on the other continent.
- I've switched some towns to aqueducts; larger cities in the north allow for many more specialists.
- Shipping lane is established in the north. We could use a secondary lane towards German lands. I've been low on cash because of research investments.
- I've been disbanding cannons to rush workers in resisting towns. Rouen should be pacified on the IT, then only Chartres left.
- We need more settlers, but again, I was concentrating on research.
- There's a single army at Poitiers that just arrived. Let it heal, then it can attack. Our "allies" have been pretty lame so far, we'll have to take out the French ourselves.

486 tiles left to obtain for domination. I played 12 to even out the turns.

The Celts have some frigates in the area, so be careful.

We have 2 more turns to go on the MPP with the Babylonians. I make peace with the Romans and get all their 11 gold, I then give them horses and saltpeter for an MA against the French. I also get 33gpt for furs, incense, silks and gems.
This trash our MPP reputation vs Babylon. You could make MA because Rome at war vs Babs. Well, I think it does not matter. About transportation:
better to have ship chain, not to have any troops in water IBT. Also I prefer Flight ASAP, to build airfields for instant troops transfer.

good progress...how lame are the Romans and Babylon not to take that French city, really useless.

I agree that we should go for flight before anything else for the airfields. Once we have that, troops will zoom over and we will win pretty soon.

Sorry for the delay, I was in the very rural part of the country so no internet connection.

Played 2 turns, should finish before Monday

EDIT: 7 turns played, playing the rest now

Finally played, 3 last turns took four hours to play

1275 AD: chech the situation, Ignawanda is doing good :D ;

IBT: resistance in Rouen ends;
some builds finish

1280 AD: lose 5/5 cav to a 1 hp riflemen;

IBT: England and Egypt vs Germany

1285AD: ship chain now working;
capture Dover, sell buildings and raze it;
found Kingston near some wines;
rush few settlers;
lose 6hp cav army to a conscript rifle at Poiters;

IBT: quiet

1290AD: found one more town on the other continent;
kill few Celtic troops and healing armies;
ship chaining heavily

IBT: lose few workers and 2 cavs

1295AD: leader in Celtonia for a 4cav army;
raze Cataractonium;
build road on wines;
settle a town where Cataractonium used to be;
no rails on the other continent slows us down a bit;
kill 12 Celtic cavs that were approaching our towns;
Babylon gets Atomic Theory for dyes, communism and some gold

IBT: quite a few Celtic cavs approaching our holdings

1300AD: raze Nottingham with the help of artys;
kill 11 Celtic cavs and 4 rifles this turn;
found 4 towns on the other continent

IBT: Celts using artillery effectively: 5 trebuchets bombard our infantry in recently founded town;
and one strange event - Krasnoyarsk (a town in the center of our empire) flips to France

1305AD: cavalry gets some training at home - we retake Krasnoyarsk;
raze Brighton and London;
found 3 towns on the other continent

IBT: no counter attacks by celts;

1310AD: raze Hastings and Eboracum;
found 3 more towns

IBT: Egypt and Germany signed peace;
we learn Combustion and get Scientific Great Leader; start Flight, due in 9

1315AD: i do "increase science output" with Sgl and research drops to 7;
raze York, Sippar, Curovernum and Oxford; capture Newcastle with Sun Tzu intact
found 5 new towns and we now also have ivory;
decide to turn off research as we are just 230 tiles away from domination, but I'm not in a mood now to rearrange 300 scientists to taxmen;

IBT: nothing

1320AD: take Warwick with Smiths (+100gpt benefit), raze Canterbury, Richborough, Ratae Coritanorum;
found 5 new towns

IBT: kill few Celtic cavs on defence

1325AD: renew lux deal with Egypt;
take Leeds and destroy England; raze and replace Gergovia, Alesia, Verulamium; found around 10 towns to grab more territory as I want to reach Dom limit this turn
Sign ROP with Germans, position settlers to grab as much territory as possible around Nuremberg and declare war on Germans ; settle towns around Nuremberg while stealing some territory from Persians, capture Nuremberg;
make peace with France for Cologne; peace with Celts for Konigsberg and we reach DOMINATION limit;
cash rush few settlers in case some town flips and we won't reach dom limit next turn;
MA vs Germans with Persians and Romans so they won't attack us

This was done using combat settlers and many pieces of artillery

I opened to save and hit enter and we won by domination after a myrriad of 'we love the king' declarations.

Well done team :goodjob: This was a very convincing victory on the highest difficulty. Only pangaea could top this now

lurker's comment: What was your score? It had to be pretty impressive at that level and your territory and the early date. On to Pangaea?

Will we try this?
what Civ is good for that?
My suggestion is Sumeria.
Or Maya.
If I will start this I can do it after 10 July.

:goodjob:

how about sid AW :eek: ?

I think Sid AW pangea impossible without "special map". Anybody want "normal" pangea game, with Barbarians, say?

Start "normal" pangaea map on Sid as Sumeria without barbs.

If Mumpulus skips then we are just 3 left again. We need at least one more player.
