Sid Game Tres

i think the AI doesent attack an army, unless its a defensive army on their city. Or a warrior army, though I think nobody is that desperate.

The AI will never attack an army is it is a 2 < (for a while) if it is at almost full strength. An AI will attack it if it is in any city and the AI has no other target. If the AI has a target, it won't attack the army. The AI will attack a one defense army and a heavily wounded 2 < army.

Warrior army? Had my early leader survived, I would have made a warrior army stupidly, when I could have rushed the FP.

I have become a republic, which is a decision I'll regret forever. I have to have lux at 40% to keep my dudes happy, and the unit support bill is huge. I just disbanded everything except workers, so it's not that bad anymore. I also rushed a ton of courthouses and ducts, so I'm out of cash, and making 100 gpt. Now that some stuff has improved, I think republic was the right choice. Monarchy would be better in the short run, but republic better for the long. And once I kill China and get trades set up, I'll have lots of luxuries.
Here is the strange border match of me and Parachuti.

Big update time :) ! Last night, our power went out for no reason, and I lost maybe 10 turns on the game, but I'm back to where I was before. Anyway, I've built a harbor, and traded 26 gpt to China for dyes. Unfortunately, China has two other luxes without an extra, and the Aztecs also have those same luxes without extra. I can now put luxury slax at 30%! Gpt rises to 148.

Here is the Northeastern part of my empire. These cities only build courthouses then aqueducts, then barracks, then mounted warriors once I get horses. Why no granaries? Because when the workers are done they can join the cities real quick. Even with a granary they still won't grow fast enough for my taste, and 60 shields is a lot for one of those cities.Because this is a huge map, these cities aren't that corrupted. Most will still be able to crank out an MW every 6 turns or so.

Here is Northwestern, where part of the core resides. Core cities have already built raxes before the GL was built, so they build marketplaces and then mounted warrior when horses get traded to us.

Here is Southeastern part of my empire. These cities aren't quite as corrupted as the northeastern part, but still build courthouse then duct then rax.

Now the southwest, where the ICS tundra is. Those cities get their only citizen converted to a tax dude, and build wealth. They add up to 6 gpt each, one for the minimal gold, 2 from tax collector, 1 from wealth, and 2 from free unit support.

How do I get my horses?

horsefort.jpg

This Chinese city has some, but is reluctant to built workers. The Chinese have one source of horses already, and they need two to trade.

So, I connect a road to that city with my two workers. Then, the galley being built in New South Choke Banana will transport them to the horses, which they can road. So I can buy horses dirt cheap cause China is about three times my size, and after 20 turns of preperation, I will have about 80 MW's (Gyathaar said 60 in 18 turns, but I'm gonna average way more than 5 spt per city), I can take that city, and I instantly have horses again. Voila!

Edit: Woeful small update: China has muskets  ! They have been soaring through the middle ages, so I have to stop them while I can. After my initial assault of 80 or so MW's, I will build knights. My leader fishing MW's will make knight armies, the only things that can easily take out a musket in a city. I have gotten chivalry so I gift GLTown to the Aztecs.

I may have to abandon this game, as the Chinese have muskets. By the time I'm ready to attack, they'll probably have rifles.

Another small update is that I met the Zulu. Both them and the Chinese are speeding along in tech, so I will be able to hook up their horses soon so they can trade. I will then make about 20 MW's then periodically invesitage Chinese cities (and make an embassy) to see if any Cavalry production is going on. If so, I'll then check out the Zulu. Then, I will take the GL back, get and get an alliance with the Chinese vs. the Aztecs, and get peace after 20 turns or if China makes peace prematurely. Then my only hope is a beachhead cavalry assault on Aztecia, but it will be a looong ship chain.

To me it sounds like they are slow :p
If I dont have cavs and rails within 10AD (or they are only a few turns away) I usually abandon the game, since there would be little hope of beating the highest scores :p

Score = amount of happiness in your empire. That's kind of the whole point of life. 100% happy citizens is an important goal in a lot of my games.

GO FOR IT. :)

Maybe you can settle a city just north to the horses (the BG). That tile is outside China's culture, so you can settle without war. Then after you settle, the horses will belong to your city, at least when the Chinese city's culture < 100. Then rush a habor, and you get horses.

That tile will always be yours, if you can get a settler there before the Chinese city gets 100 culture.

Hah my school doesn't start till Sept. 6! :D
Anyways too bad you had to abandon that one, it seemed real good right till the end...
Good luck on your next one and if you win we'll [party]

He means school, not exactly no military, but just make defensive, try to avoid wars, and if you do wars, make them small. :)
