Sid Game Tres

In my AWS game, I found hundreds of units in the Mongolian core, but of course that's always war, so maybe it's different. Wow, I'm suddenly releved.

60-70 mounted warriors is quite a lot, don't know if I can build up that before muskets. I probably will face pikes, right? I bet I could get maybe 40 before muskets.

Horsemen/Mounted warriors upgrade to knights and cav is so expensive I only build knights.

About NoAIPatrol(=0 or whatever is that a file? Do I download it from "Fix for the Barbs, sort of?" Is it too late once the game is started?

A small update:
China has settled on my island  !

Military Alliances, of course. I've never started a war on sid without an MA.

AWS is different.. AIs will prioritize units higher.. which slows down their research due to unit costs.. whci means less buildings to build, and the units they have available to build is cheaper than more advanced units.. a viscious circle for the AI.

20 cities doing 5 shields per turn will build 60 MW in 18 turns.. core cities prolly takes 1 or 2 turns to build a MW

I usually disconnect iron/salt and build horsemen for upgrades even when I have the more expensive units.. once you have cavs they only other tech you need is rails, (and eventually replacable parts.. but no rush for that.. cav armies can kill infantery in metropolises easilly enough..)

You put it in conquests.ini file.. in addition to fixing barbarians, it also makes AI units move around instead of sitting idle in towns... this also means they will arrive to the front more spread out when you start a war (instead of all starting from a few cities they come from all over their lands)

You can put it in at any time.. just have to restart conquests after you put it in (or remove it)

Happened to me too.. but if you control the choke, they have no easy way to reinforce their towns.. so they make an easy target for triggering your GA...

I usually start wars without alliances.. I only sign alliance if I fear my target will sign in the other AI vs me.. AND then only if this hurts me in some way.. that is.. the other AI is next to me, or they are supplying me with a resource or lux that I need... when not signing alliance it means you get more leaderchances, plus you can make peace at any time if WW gets too bad or if you can get several cities in peace deal, and not loose your rep.

Another reason for signing an alliance, if is the two civs are supplying eachother with luxes/resources that I need.. starting a war and alliance breaks their current deals and allows me to buy it instead...

an ini file is a file with the file-ending .ini .. windows however by default will hide .ini file endings, so they file may just be called conquests (and located in the same folder as the conquests executable file)

Thanks Gyathaar :) .

If you redelcare war before 20 turns of peace happened with no concessions, is your rep still clean?
As long as it was a straight up peace deal, then I believe so yes (if the AI gave you cities, gold, techs, map etc then your rep will be broken)

Yes, I'll give you a world map, I love seeing those too. I hate it when people post screenshots that are small and without a world map. I'm a "big picture" guy.

I have officially changed my mind about the GL. I will give it away, and get to chivalry before getting it back. I won't connect the iron until I have my assault force of MW's ready (60-70). After that, I'll build knights, and all leaders will form knight armies. The knight armies can take the GL back when necesssary (the world is at cavalry. I considered rails but that would be too late, and nationalism would rear it's ugly head. The AIs also research nationalism first).

China is building the GL  ! I always finish it before anyone is close to getting literature. I don't know if I can beat him to it, as there are still wonders to be built he could have cascaded off of. If I don't get the GL, games not over. I can still get mounted warriors easily enough to do my dirtywork. Maybe I can capture it from China...

I'm thinking to far ahead, I don't think they're gonna get it. The city they're building it in probably has half the citizens clowns, and every tile is irrigated.

Pics time. Nevermind, CD didn't burn right, will take another while.

I played this one game where I was surrounded by France, the Arabs, and the Chinese.

I made sure to remove their awful colours from the world.

Don't have time for an update with screenies, but I can tell you that not only did I not get republic from the GL, the only source of horses is by a chinese colony on my island! Right on the choke, where I sent my settler earlier, and just got beat by the Chinese. The only way I can get horses is to get some from trade, or culturally take it from their city. I can't take the city by force, as their other colonies will be trouble and I won't have a decent army of MW's.

About the republic situation, I could settle for monarchy, or start my revolt now and hope I'll get it from the GL before my revolt is done.

I wouldnt go exclusively with knights, since 2 MWs (60 shields) vs. a vet (fortified) musket is successful 58% of the time; 1 knight (70 sh) vs. the same only gives success 33.8% of the time. Build enough knights to cover your MW stack, but disconnecting the iron and using those mounties I think is the most efficient way up until cavalry.

i think the AI doesent attack an army, unless its a defensive army on their city. Or a warrior army, though I think nobody is that desperate ;) .
