Signs You're Obsessed With Civ 7's Release

My work gives us a birthday holiday and since my birthday is February. 8th, I took my bday holiday on the 7th, so I can play Civ 7. I've also informed my wife and daughters that for my birthday I would like to play Civ 7 all weekend. I bought myself the gift of the Founders edition.

I think I have read and watched every bit of info I can find and in between, I decided to win one last civ 6 game on deity before I officially retire it for civ 7. I won a science victory with Tokugawa.

I've been trying to find a video game to distract me from civ 7 hype for a few months. Of course a week ago I've finally found one doing the trick for now (Diablo 4) and civ is right around the corner.

My biggest concern will be pacing, especially on epic and marathon. I remember civ 6 wasn't very fun on release for me for that reason.

My fear is that it will get as stale as VI, but even quicker (~100 hours).
I had the same issue with 6, but I'm hoping the ages will fix that. Having more active goals for the short/mid term will be good for me at least.

Me posting useless messages in these boards is probably a good sign

No problem.
I'm retired, so I've already reserved next Friday through Sunday for a Civ VII Splurge.

But in the meantime, I'm playing a new game of Anno 1800 and currently trying to build three wonderous Projects at once in three different regions, which is keeping me hopping during the time I allot myself each day for gaming.

After the blowout of information last week, I’m worried I’ll burn out before the game releases lol 😅 so I’m learning Old World, which I picked up during a recent sale. Quite fun so far!
I get so emotional scrolling forward and backward through the turn by turn summaries in old world, remembering each of my leaders and their dreams and doubts, dashed and gloriously overcome.

So obsessed I subscribed to a YouTube channel.

Biggest fear: a major AI gap that can’t be patched, e.g., if exploration age navies become Civ6’s air forces, which the multiplayer livestream (“naval battle are epic…in multiplayer”) got me worrying about.

Having said that, what are ya'lls biggest concerns about the game? My concern is that age transitions might feel like your momentum is stalled and you have to totally re configure your strategy to suit the new age.
My biggest fears are about the maps. I like huge maps, with lots of civs, and that doesn’t seem to be an option at the onset.

Worried the game will be too easy (ai/balance) and this usually kills my desire to play a lot more campaigns after a handful.
Depends also how much/easy it would be to mod to make it more challenging.

The good news I guess is that it will take me a while to complete a few games and we will see if the first major patch goes in the right direction.

I can't even play other computer games because I'm so hyped. Anyone else have a similar situation?
Yep! So I'm plaguing this forum and the Steam forums (a wretched hive of scum and villainy, but with a few of us noble Civ Jedi keeping things in check), which is pathetic, but at least passes the time.

I've largely stopped watching YouTubers' game play because they inevitably make some minor "error" (like failing to move their scouts a tile before activating that new farsight ability thingie--how dare they!), and that just triggers me, and reminds me that I want to play myself--and that just gets me back to roaming around on these forums.

Nobody knows the pain we Civfanatics endure :)

I've been playing Cavemen2Cosmos to scratch the Civ itch. After a full week and over 600 turns played I'm almost at Agriculture!

I've watched every developer livestream, read every dev diary, watched lots of You tubers. Read lots here. I like to think I know a lot about 7, at least on paper. We'll see how it actually plays out though.
Same here

Yes, these streamers are sloppy sometimes.
