When the expansion first comes out are you guys going to play multiplayer right away, or play a few games on single player first?

Personally, I am going to play several SP games before MP. SP is much better to learn how to use all the new mechanics and new units. I don't want to be done with my turn and then have to wait a minute for others to finish their turn while I'm learning. I want to play at my own pace, however fast or slow it may be. Because mid game I may even stop to read the civlopedia for 10 minutes. I can't do tht in MP.

I also think that with all the new mechanics the game will get more difficult. Somebody who plays on king will probably have to play on prince to experience the same level of dificulty, at least until all the new mechanics are learned and understood. That's how civ IV BTS was, it was much more difficult than the vanilla version. So I think that SP is better to get used to this also.

I was wondering if you guys are going to do the same thing or jump straight into MP.

I don't really play MP, but I think it would be really fun if you and your friends all jumped into G&K with a MP game. You're all learning the mechanics at the same time.

SP for two reasons. First, MP is too stereotyped playing style and Second, the espionage system only uses all parts in SP and I want to test out the espionage system fully.

I play mostly multiplayer, but I will probably play singleplayer first to see Intrigue and if the AI truly has improved

Definitely SP. I'll wait for the inevitable patches to come out before I go anywhere near G&K MP.

I will play some singleplayer games first and try to find appropriate strategies for ancient start for multiplayer(how to reach iron fast, an early army, a big empire at fast rate, etc)

i dont like multiplayer games, i don't like turn based age of empires. or red alert. as a builder type, there is no room in multiplayer for people like me.

If you are good enough there is room for everything. Dealing with a human is more satisfying especially for hotseat mode where you have time making propaganda and stealthy alliances :)

Can be kind of boring for online mp if some players are too slow taking their turns but overall with good and experimented players you can't miss the fun. You can save the game and continue it later.

I just hope that it will more stable with the expansion.

Multiplayer would be fun if the AI could interact with the humans. But as it is right now it dosnt work, so coop multiplayer is kinda broken.

It will be even more broken when the expansion arrives since they have said that they will shut espionage down in multiplayer completely.

You would think that having a check box and let people choose for themselves would be the best option, but apparently Firaxis hates us who play multiplayer.

So, yea, mostly singleplayer for me but sometimes i team up with my wife and we play together against the AI. But like me she hates the fact that the AI cant interact with us humans.

I prefer single player and always have. Although, I have played a coop game or two. I was thinking about trying MP, but I'd probably get whooped and that would be very disconcerting. Do they have a beginners club or something?

A good Civilization game takes several days to play... that's way too long to be a viable multiplayer game.

Quite right.

However, even if you enjoy a game of MP from time to time, given all of the changes G&K I can't see how it makes any kind of sense to not play SP if not first then at least to explore the intricacies of the new options so that you're better prepared for your MP game.

Any new words about Pitboss?¿ Would be there with G&K? I've never played, but I've read about it and it seems interessant for MP games...

Multiplayer very likely, unless it's totally screwed up (likely) or my friends aren't available to play before I get my hands on it. I pretty much always play multiplayer with my friends, in private games. So it'll be interesting trying it all out together!

I am probably going to do a few single player games until I get a hold of the new features then I'll start playing multiplayer.
