Site Anniversary?

CFC began in March 2000. Back then it had a different URL, I think, and the forums began when it moved (probably around September or October 2000).

Edit: I was slightly off. Here's an expert from the "About Us" page on CFC:

In the beginning, CivFanatics was a small personal homepage hosted by Geocities (1998) and then at Xoom (1999). The old site title was Civilization Fanatics' Page. After we moved the site to Strategy Gaming Online in March 2000, the site was renamed to Civilization Fanatics' Center. The CivFanatics site you see today really started after the move because server space is no longer a problem. We didn't have a downloads section and forums before the move.

Hehe, TF probably needs to change the part saying "server space is no longer a problem." ;)

So I guess only TF know's the "real" birthday at all?

And, the birthday could be arguable - is it when the current URL was made, the old URL, or the forums...:Crazyeye:

Well, technically the current URL being made and the start of the forums are the same thing. ;) :) The first post ever in the forums used to be accessable (I found it once when I was bored, by searching for all of TF's posts, and looking at the earliest one; quite interesting), but then someone posted in the thread, annoying one of the mods (after all, that was quite a revival of a dead thread! ;)), and so it was closed and deleted. Right now it's probably in the Staff Forum, so TF or one of the mods could probably find it and see the date of it, thus finding out the birthday of the forums.

Of course, there's probably other ways of doing the same thing.

Isn't this the first post/thread on the CFC forums?

Of course I think it's odd that some people registered before TF...Now how did that happen? :hmm:

I always did wonder how CFC was started, thanks for the info! :)

EDIT: Now that I go back, I don't see any registerers before TF, I wonder what I saw? :hmm:

:goodjob: Yep, that's the one I had in mind. I guess it was just closed, instead of deleted. I wonder why I couldn't find it...

Before Thunderfall registered as Thunderfall, he had some test accounts, that have now been disabled, I think. In fact, you can see that some users, such as SunTzu, registered while TF had a different name.

Hmm, looking at the members list I see that admin5 registered in 1969. Must be some twisted governmental account loosely connected with the lunar landing conspiracy...

Hmm, interesting. Looking at the members list, several dozen members registered before TF :hmm:.

Woah. Was just browsing around through some of the older posts... found a link to this. Wierd. Almost... scary.

There was a civilization series section of the strategy-gaming forum that was Thunderfall's/Civfanatic's forums before TF started the UBB in Oct 2000. Of the current staff, I recall Smash, J Valdez Too, myself, and of course TF, being posters there. Sun Tzu was a staff member (Under the name Gregorious Lux) even before the UBB.

Makes you wonder who:

The first person to get warned was

The first person to get banned was

Who is TF and who isn't

Anyway.... March 2000? I registered in like what January 2001? Or 2002? (I believe it was 2002 I'll find out when I post this) So I wasn't that far behind.... Just by one or two years.

CFC has grown quite a bit - look how many registered members there are here now.

As long as he doesn't get to post here either, good plan! :mischief:

Very strange, especially since their Off Topic doesn't count in postcount. :hmm:

Even though a user's PC doesn't increase when he/she posts in the OT forum, I think OT posts would be counted towards Apolyton's # of posts and threads.
