YOu know it!
When I was banned from here... I registered on poly.

CFC is much more friendly. And we have smarrter people here, and bannings are often here, which livens up everyone.

All in all here is my rankings:
1. CFC
2. nhl.com

98. Apolyton
:)

C"mon folks, let's not turn this into a Poly-bashing thread - it'll get shut down for sure, then.

One thing to note: Poly had about a 2-year headstart on CFC, no wonder thay have many more threads in their history. We are now roughly equal in number of members. We both serve the Civ-playing community, and have slightly different, but overlapping, foci. Together, we make up the prime civ-related sites on the net.

Probably because more people that register at Poly actually POST ;) where many people here register to use the search, vote in polls, etc. Annoys some of the people *coughcough* that didn't get the coveted name.

Deity on earth.

We're not bashing Apolyton. We're just explaining why we're here instead of there.

As I said before: Because we're cooler.

(think of it not as Poly-bashing, but CFC-praising!)

CFC-praise I can accept. After all, I wouldn't be a mod if I didn't like it here! :D

I wasn't so worried about you guys who had already posted. If I had been, you would have seen me bring out my Big Pointy Stick™. ;) It was more of a warning to any new posters not to get *too* carried away.

You mean like this?

Back to the subject: I think Thunderfall should designate a day (of his choosing) as the 'origins of CFC,' and put a big splash on the title page.

Ah yes, everyone likes a party! [party]

The birthday of the forums is October 25, 2000. Here's a screenshot of the first ever post, taken by shabbaman:

It was SOTD #48, and here's the description, posted by Thunderfall:

October 2000 was a time when we were still posting those colorful poll results, when the Civ1 section on this site was launched, when the Civ2 Scenario Hall of Fame was opened... and most importantly, the CivFanatics forum was born two years ago today!

We have a special SOTD for this special day: a screenshot of the grand opening forum post taken by shabbaman.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the visitors for the continued support and all the staff members for their hard work. Keep on Civing everyone!

And the birthday of Civilization3 Fanatics Center is February 11, 2000, which I found out by looking at the oldest news announcement. Odd, since the about us page says that CFC was born in March 2000. I think the Civ3FC, along with the earlier Civ2FC, must have had (a) different URL(s) from civfanatics.com. I looked at the March 2000 news archive, but it didn't say anything about CFC being born, so I don't know if regular users can find out the birthday of CFC; it looks like TF would have to do that.
