SkepNES : Vincere est Vivere (Redo)

Shrf looked over his people from a hillside. OK, so there weren't that many people, mostly his family and people also escaping the prosecution of...them.

They had found others when they had reached this land. They wandered for many days, coming to the river Khth. Shrf decided they need not go any further. There were grasses and reeds to make small huts. The ground was fairly good for growing, but they hadn't tried growing anything yet. Their only supply of food were the fish from the river, and a few edible berries that they had forage for.

Shrf skidded down the dusty hill side, picked a few berries at the base and wandered back to the 'village'. They had decided, after much talking, that it would be called 'Iberia', a word that doesn't mean anything, but knowing history, somebody's bound to try to figure it out 5,000 years in the future.

The tribal leader looked at the river. It stretched for miles in either direction. They'd never see what was on the other side of the river. Unless they had some sort raft to get people or across. Staring absent-mindly at the water, another though popped into Shrf's head. What about the abilty to walk over the water. Nah, he thought, that's just too silly...

Historian's note: Within a thousand years after his life, Shrf would become the single most important figure in Iberian culture. In almost every piece of visual art, there would be a figure of an emancipated man, almost like a skeleton with with skin, an enlarged head and diluted eyes, in the background, never the focus of the piece.

Now, when you say dead line, do you mean orders or stories?

Orders Sent.

I Declear Story war against all. Story war is to see who can come out with the most, good stories. (joking)

Story here.

The Celto-Jutic Code of Respect

Two boys play after a day of learning to hunt. Outside a great conical building they wrestled in a courtyard made of other buildings and sheds. As they trampled over holes blocked with clay to store the Corn (Grain) they tripped onto one of the Family Leaders. Giggling, they ran away. But as they scampered they can hear the tall Male cussing and catch up to them. "Well, well, well." He boomed, "Two Likkle Rascals." He wringed their clothes of wool as they wimpered and cried. "I should whip you until you look lik a likkle Frankie." Frankie was a traveler from the far south. He made friends with all but he is as dark as a young oak. At the mention of Frankie the children scowled. They are trying not to cry. "Well, since yeh survived 5 suns, let me teach yeh the Code of Respect".

Must wash, finish later.

Its on... :trouble:

No orders are needed for the first update Charles. I think the deadline was for people to join.

The deadline is for the first update, you need to send orders

So are we going to have cities at all? They're kind of important when it comes to a NES.

That's quite untrue, noob. Maybe with all these new NESes out there cities may play an important roll. Turn back time 2 years or so, and everything before that, cities played a very small roll in NESes.

Besides you uncalled for insult, I guess you're right. But how are we going to know where to plan our attacks or where our capitals are? That might work for a NES that was taking place in the real world, but in this timeline some cities have no set locations. I could just say my capital is somewhere else if some of my land is taken, or say no cities were in that area.

I already talked to him, he said that we needed to turn in orders for the first update

Hopefully he'll post soon to clear things up.

It wasn't meant to be an insult. It was supposed to remind you of your lack of experience in these things.

You can easilly do battle orders without knowing the direct location of cities. Take my NES for example. It's had plenty of wars, although no cities. Although cities on the map wouldn't be a bad thing to have, for the sake of planning wars and whatnot, they're not needed... And at this point, every civilization should have probably just 1 town or something. It's up to the mod, ultimately, how he decides to do things.

:D

You know what, forget nation introductions. Everyone wrote a story, and they were really very well crafted and brought a great image of your nation to my mind. So how about we get straight into the action??

DEADLINE IN 48 HOURS!

Get crackin'!

*Map on first page updated!*

This is pretty clear.

This is pretty clear.

Yeah, I just re-read it. I'll send in orders right away.

I don't need to be reminded. I'm well aware how long the NES community has existed.

I'm guessing there would be atleast a few small cities, not just one town. But hey, this probably isn't made to be totally realistic, so I'll go with whatever skep says.

At this moment you guys just have little tents in your encampments, and have just gotten rid of your nomadic ways. No "true" cities exist... if you were to be attacked or you attack someone, your colored area (which is your population reach) would just decrease or increase.. if you want to focus on some legit cities then you'd need to finds methods and materials on how to make them (I'll add them to the map as time goes by), if not ya'll will just be living in animal hide tents or in a cave somewhere. :P

And yes, orders are due at that deadline, and some of you have sent very nice orders already considering this age.

Also, concerning projects and culture.. if you add the effects of a project to give you increased culture.. it will take a MUCH longer time then any other stat. Culture is primarily raised through your stories and development of your nation, and in the long run, culture will be a very powerful stat, so yeah.. just putting it out there.

Edit: Also, projects that include things such as "Give 2 agriculture for 1 economy, navies start out conscript, etc.. are going to take a massive amount of turns at this point, since everything is very primitive and there just isn't the power to create something that can reap such benefits.

P.S - And Charles, in my PM I meant Stone Circles, not Stonehenge, hehe, my bad.

As years passed the Galavanian population began to get restless. Many people disliked the new changes and wanted to go back to the way it was. The original Galavanian blood had been so diluted that everyone was Galavanian, which ended in a very tribal structure, with people looking up to tribal leaders, and the line of The Speaker had very little influnce.

But at about 3000 B.C one of the greatest leaders the Galavanians had ever seen arose. Uvaril the unifier he became known. While the original Speaker brought the Galavanians together, Speaker Uvaril was the one who cemented it. He began several projects.

The first was a new army. The old raiders were still functional, but the increased borders put a strain on the expansion. The new army made expansion quicker and easier. More people began flowing into the confederation a few villages began to get quite large.

His next project was to spread joy to the many villages, increasing their confidance and reliance in the speaker. Uvaril spent much time on this before coming to a solution. He began spreading money to the tribes and encourarging them to build statues of the speakers. He made it a competition to see who could build the best statues. While none of the Statues could be called truely wonderous, several of them have been perserved to this day.

He gave every tribe that built a statue or two a donation of food and small tax cuts. He traveled far and wide viewing the statues and pronounced the three greatest of them, building confidence in their leader. The first of the great statues was in the Vern village, far inland. In showed the original Speaker in all his glory addressing a large crowd. To this village he gave a great tax cut, making the village one of the wealthest.

The second statue was in the forest village Huran. It showed Lenon, one of the lesser known Speakers, with a great boar over his shoulders. Uvaril was impressed with the artistry of this smaller statue and decreed that this village was to get the lions share of the people from the next raids.

Finally, Uvaril came too the coastal village Kylarn. It hosted the largest statue, of Uvaril himself pointing into the sky. It was explained that it showed Uvaril pointing into the Future. Uvaril was so impressed that he made this village his home, and commisioned a great dock to lead the way into the future.

Uvaril was not yet done. He gathered many of the wisest heads he had met during his travels in Kylarn and made them into a council to help guide the Speaker and Galavania into the future. Half were sent out to discover new and incredible things. Another quarter of them went to educate the populace . Many of those taught would later join the council. The final group of wise-men stayed with the speaker to help quide and advise him. And that was the legacy of Speaker Uvaril the Unifier.

Its been a couple of years now since the unification of France. Some buildings have appeared in Paris and the city was "thriving" for its time period. The Tribal leaders have even started to plan a new project. On the hills by the bank of the Seine. Stonehenge is a circular setting of large standing stones, what is a remarkable feat at that time.

The French people have also started a new invention which they call the Plough which is a tool used in farming for initial cultivation of soil in preparation for sowing seed or planting.

It is very easy to say that the French were starting to become very intelligent for their time

Now the council's main goal is to expand the lands and populations of their country

Edit: Sorry, I just realized how big those pictures were.

Thanks Skeptikalz. I found that I before the more free form NESes like this one tend to be more story-able. And creative writing tends to be one of my hobbies
