SkepNES : Vincere est Vivere (Redo)

Hmm. So I could put money into caribou riders, or pottery or instance? Intresting.

I dont think you have to put money into that. You just mention it in your orders and over time it will get discovered/ invented. At least thats how I think it is.

The french morale greatly improved after the invention of the plough and the start of the great wonder called "Stonehenge." The French Thought they could do anything. With the invention of the plough, the food production soared. The french farmers were growing so much food that they did not know what to do with all of it. So they built some Granaries in Paris to store the excess food to save it for an emergency. So Over time Paris grew even more and more buildings appeared.

The french, who are very smart for this time period, start to invent a new tool. Called an axe, which is used to cut down wood used for construction. The french, also invented a rope, to tie the wood together to say.. build a bridge. The Early French rope was just a naturally occuring length of plant fiber, like vines. But it was effective in the art of building bridges.

So after the excess food and all the inventions, and of course the growing amount of buildings in Paris, it is clear that France is now a Civilization, and not a tribe.

The reign of Ulexsander

In 3897 Speaker Uvaril died. For an entire week the nation morned the passing of this Great speaker, for such great monarchs come but rarely. But life must go on, and Uvaril's eldest son Ulexsander became Speaker. Ulexsander was a good Speaker. In fact as far as rulers go, he was devouted to the nation. But it was inevitible that he was overshadowed by Uvaril.

Every king does things however, overshadowed or not. One of the first things he did, was widespread domesticated Caribou. Soon their were many ranchers so to speak, and caribou was added as a regular Galavanian diet. In addition many brave souls attempted to ride the majestic beasts and many even managed to survive. The army had quite of few of those, but although their was a few caribou cavalry squads, they were few and far between, mainly used for impressing the locals.

The next thing Ulexsander did was build some boats. To him it seemed, that their was no point in building this giant port for a couple fishing boats, which at the time we more like rafts. He got a whole fleet of boats. Then another problem occured to him. What the heck are a bunch boats going to do sitting around at a unfinished dock.

That day a messanger came to him. The nation was bulging at the seams. Many villages had as much as they could support. Few had the capacity to sustain the rate of growth. Kylarn was one of the few that could keep growing unnoticed, which was why it had to be brought to the Speakers attention.

Many can tell you that a problem is a problem, but two problems can solve each other? A few historians belive that that saying came from Ulexsanders reign. It began loading people onto the boats and transported them to nearby islands which had room for them. He gave them some wood, food, a couple fishing rafts and some caribou and left. Almost every one of these landings resulted in a few Galavanian settlement. Several groups of people also sprung up on Denmark it's self!

But alas Ulexsander died at 63 in 3851. THe eldest of his 8 sons, Eric, became Speaker. But that is a story for another time.

I dont think you have to put money into that. You just mention it in your orders and over time it will get discovered/ invented. At least thats how I think it is.

For something such as caribou riders you have to pretty much keep focusing on it with your stories/orders, there's nothing you can really put money into in order to be able to ride caribou but continue their domestication. But actual inventions which require materials bought and distribution and the like would rapidly be advanced with the usage of economy, such as bestshot9 in his efforts to get better armour.. him spending economy will allow to purchase various materials in maybe trade with other tribes to test them out and see what works and what doesn't.

Ok I get it now. So inventing something like bronze is all well and good, but distributing it to the populace, requires a little more substance.

EDIT: Decided to alter the story that was here a bit.

Stories:

The Dynasty Institution
Around this time, archeologists estimate, the institution of the Dynasty began in the Dagranite-Hofan League. It began amongst the army, but was eventually imitated by all social classes. The following is how this instution worked.

Each family which considered itself great called itself a Dynasty, but only a select few actually were acknowledged as such. The requirement at first was merely a perception amongst others of greatness, but in time it would evolve so that a member had to achieve great things every generation. ("Great" was never defined, but winning a battle as commander against great enough odds or killing enough people in a single battle was considered the criterion)

Members of a Dynasty were always under pressure to achieve great deeds, through either warrior feats, or when the chance came command. Those with no realistic chance of doing so were practically drafted into the struggle to gain members of the Council, and to persuade the few remaining neutrals to support their familie's applications for command.

About 60% of later dynasties would ultimately claim origin from this period. This left significant numbers of myths, legends, and outright forgeries about achievements from it...

Diplomacy:

From Dagranite-Hofan League
To Surrounding Tribes

The League is expanding, and could use more soldiers. To each and every one of you, we propose the following deal.

-A full alliance between your tribe and the Dagranite-Hofan League on an individual basis
-We will send you 50% of all slaves captured in war

Can mapman please put black borders around our country.. its quite hard to see my borders! :D

Project "Great Priet's Tomb" A large mound with his sayins inscribed on rocks with runes. This will increase Education and Culture.

1 On Army
1 on Education

Move even furthur. Mostly advance will be held by settlers and aided only in battle by the Army. Small militias will start to form and later larger ones will fight frontier wars.

Priest's Hendworth's Work Way of the Cow translated from old Jutic Runes

The way of the cows. Suspisous they are. They don't trust men. However, hunger and love will show them. I have a pair of calves I captured with pits. You must starve them until they cry, then feed then only when they look at you, to associate you with food.

Reciently I used a strip of leather to tie them to a stick. They ran and I stepped on the stick. It diggs up the soil and makes it look healthier from a dull gray to a natural brown. I shall continue my work.

Excerpt from Hendworth. The Great Priest and Philosopher.

Battle of Rathgon Woods

Chieftian Guthia leads his brigade from the Army. Infront is a army from Relius, a confederation of tribes north of a Giant River. These men are wearing leather with small shiny pieces of stuff. As their side howled the battle cry and waved their spears and clubs, Guthia saids 'Shiney stone on shirt and wood.'. Clan Leaders Yulan and Turbih agreed. This confederation refused them. It was war.

They charged as the Brigade stood Strong. Then, just before inpacts they yelled and leaped into their front lines. As Guthis smashed a man in the stomach he saw the rocks cut into his spear. The battle was hard. Their shiney rock was hard. But eventually a dozen were left and they surrendered. The battle of Rathgon Woods is the larges, deadliest and bloodies battle in Britannia at that time. Nearly a thousand lay on the field. As Guthia looked he dismayed to see many of his comrades dead. He questioned the last one. "Shiney Metal! Use?"
As the man said "Mine in hill. Big fire in hard cup. Melts. Hard."
"Good. Relian Lives. Mine shiney Metal."
"Shiney Metal of God. Tin hard. Mix with some other harder."
"Metal?"
"Hard rock melted from other rock. Metal."
"Work for us and live."

The Relian Nods.

(Start mining tin. However, main thing is the Cattle.)

Divinality of Hendworth
Recorded from the Crier as History.

Rathgon woods battle. Hendworth did duty. Hit in arm. He Lives.

"Later"

"I, Hendworth, am not Celto-Jutic. I am sent by Charles Li to oversee you. I shall help you as a priest but you will remember me. I have learned more of the secrets of cows but it might be until next century until you all know it. I have mined tin and hopes you will also learn it. From across the see we learn to use more of the cow. Plow makes holes that dig, easy farm. I am appoined and ask for nothing but that I am remembered."

So he was givin a tomb to be build. He worked for the Celts for the rest of his life and died hundreds of years later. Just after the crowning of King Jusvin the Ceuti.

P.S. I spent on Agriculture last turn. If I can't get more army then buy agriculture.

100 hundred years had passed and already the Iberians had decided that organised religion was a good idea. They knew others tried it, and seemed happy, so they decided to jump on the bandwagon. They had a meeting about who and what they should worship.

After hours of discussion, they decided that they would worship the Sun, and Shrf was the son of the sun, and thus the messiah. They said they didn't really need to come up with much of the mythology, and decided people can think up any thing they like regarding the world. If they want the world to, say, be a giant's head, then everyone would be perfectly fine with that. Sometimes, you would gets groups of people who share the same worldview, which are called 'sects'.

To: Dagranite-Hofan League
From: Surrounding Tribes

We do not trust you! That and we believe you will attempt to conquer us either way, and as such we shall stand together and fight you!

@ Abaddon : Alright, I'll do it for the next updates, and unless someone else asks for it, just for you though, cause I'm lazy lol

@ Charles : Charles!!! I told you that a culture increase bonus in a wonder was going to make it take very long.. I thought that was why you decided not to build it the first time? And at the balance I have it at now.. expect it done in 20 turns! 0_0 And btw, we've still got to wait at least a few more hundred years (a good 6 turns) before any of that gets tin mining and smelting gets anywhere. ;)

From Dagranite-Hofan League
To Surrounding Tribes

We cannot conquer in every direction at once- if we could, wouldn't we be doing so? Having allies will permit us to expand faster (hence why we want to make them)- double-crossing would be pointless, as we can always expand elsewhere in the world.

It is also in your interests. Bad sesasons can leave to people starving to death- you would know this from experience. Having slaves and agriculture prevents this being so bad. Please, do not put your people through bad times out of selfish pride.

@Skep
I said 'Quit the Culture. I'd like the Education by itself.'
I think You Mistunderstood me.

Also, I am talking about RAW tin. The kind you get after smashing a rock, melting it near/in a hot fire, and picking out the best. It is just a side note. Besides, britian was once important for the tin used in copper.

EDIT: I have proof! Tin was used in smelting even during: 3,500 B.C.!!! Link!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tin9/[url]

Two questions: First about how much population do we have spread over our country at very light?(Will matter fo my next story) And also what is the largest size we can expect villages to get?

Well, I never considered it as any specific set of numbers, but I suppose it would be any number below 1,000 or so at this time.

Your villages can be as populated as you want with the distribution of your people

A thousand people over my entire stretch of land? Daid story might need a little revising

Much if it is just what is considered "yours", pretty much under your influence or control. Other tribes respect those borders which they come to know as yours, and are all like "Past the big mountain and wide lake lay Galavanians" or whatever, though how many and how far past those mountains, who knows!

So we only have around one thousand people living in our borders? Or are those the people directly under our control? either way, it would be hard to maintain armies and navies with that low of a population. You might want to reconsider having such low populations for our countries.

Gah! It really isn't that important, truly. I'm almost talking out of my ass and pulling numbers, I'm sure you can set a good amount yourself, and either way I don't consider it any important in this NES.

As several educated guesses, I'd say their are maybe Two Hundred Thousand people in the world correct? So I'd say a unpopulated tribe would have less than five thousand, and a very light population would be 5-15 thousand people. Anyway here is the story

The reign of Eirc

If Ulexsander was a overshadowed king, Eric could be considered truely unremarkable. All he did was fallow his father and grandfather. He finished the spreading of clay pots and every village had some caribou has a food source, allowing greater growth across the nation. He also settled a few more islands. But what happened in Erics reign was far more important than Speaker Eric himself.

The first thing that happened is the fur became all the rage among the tribal leaders, shamans, great hunters, and well anybody who was anybody. Although these primitive fur garmets couldn't be called coats by todays standards, they did provide warmth against the chill morning air.

It was Wiseman Kyphros who came up with the idea. He spread out a two caribou furs left over from the making of the tents. Then he sowed, if you can call it that, the two furs together. The result was a body long garmet, complete with sleeves. He told the king and got his name carved beside Wiseman Huron's. Soon this practise became widespread and every caribou herder and hunter supplemented their household with these.

They also became sort of a currency. A big coat could get you two child size ones, or three days worth of fish. You could get three clay pots for a single coat, or one large pot. Two coats would get you a spear or a week's bread. You could even trade four for a whole tent!

The second thing that happened was that Wiseman Pannor made a survey of the Galavanians, starting with the islanders and heading in land. This is what he found:
Villages: 374
Island* villages: 65
Grand** villages:7 (Kylarn, Copenhagen, Forar, Snerk, Wabafee, Lupen and Beror)
Males: 3678
Females:4987
Children:1024
Caribou:10256
Warriors/Raiders:726

*Europe was considered an island
** Grand villages had populations of over 500

OOC: I know math hasn't been invented yet but, I'm just going to ignore that for the sake of the story:). Also that is why I was asking about population.
