SKNES: Architecture of Aggression

It's easy to blame the bureaucracy for your inefficiencies, isn't it? If the lives of the Axumites were that important to you Christian tribals, then surely a more efficient response could have been made. It all brings me back to the point that this is no Holy War, this is a war of gain and profit. As soon as Christian soldiers enter the Levant, I imagine rape and pillage to be plentiful.

We also care little for what the Coptics think. Your men fight like women, and we killed only those who asked for it. Surrender was a viable option, only those who put down their sword to pick it up when our back was turned received a swift death. You might as well stop sending messengers to our lands, as you are simply whining at this point. Should you keep yourselves busy managing your island while we disperse the tribals, we may allow you to exist afterwards.

OOC: While RL interferes with NES's all the time, you certainly can't expect anything to really be taken from that. I'd still hope your soldiers realize that they're fighting long after the fact, and I'd hope some sort of issues arise from it, regardless as to whether or not you can help it.

OOC: Aren't the Copts actually part of the Orthodox Church at this time?

OOC: It really depends. They (the soldiers) only know what they hear and what we tell them, and if we call all hearsay Islamic Lies and we tell them Axum is surviving but only on the BRINK of disaster, I should be able to motivate them to fight harder, even, while not having much guilt in saying that Axum is dead BECAUSE we did not fight hard enough, not that we did not fight soon enough.

They are soldiers, but it's not like they live in a box. Surely rumors from merchants, prostitutes, and whatever else spread through the lines. Along with STDs.

OOC: And we call them Islamic lies. Simple enough. If they saw it themselves- Islamic lies. If they heard it- lies. If it is a christian that heard it-he or she heard lies. If it is a Christian that was there-that's when we break the news we didn't fight hard enough (after waiting a suitable time of course).

Anyway, I'm metagaming that the NPCing was infact a brief civil war among the descendants of Clovis and Bernald in Frankland and Aquitaine-more intrigue than all out fighting that encouraged hoarding until the last opponet of the victors were backstabbed. To match I have a new Dynasty to play around with.

Our peoples have had a mutually beneficial relationship in the past. We celebrate the independence of the Avar people, and we offer you an alliance of mutual defense.

To: The Roman Empire
From: The Avar Khaganate

We recognize the assistance the Roman Empire provided to our people in our time of struggle and agree that a mutual defense alliance would be beneficial to both of our great nations. We accept your proposal.

Since we are now in a Crusade, and there would be fifty game years until the BT anyway, a few minor changes:
-Turns are shortened to 10 years each. So next turn would be 960 AD, the one after that 970 AD, and so on.
-We'll transfer to the BT once the Crusade ends.

This is to give more focus on what looks like it's going to be an important part of this NES's timeline and also to end Part 1 on a high note.

Should be simple enough, any comments/suggestions/questions/objections?
Orders are due Thursday, July 19.

For various reasons, chiefly that I'm at a friend's place all day tomorrow, the deadline is pushed forward another 24 hours, to the afternoon EDT of Friday, July 20, 2012.

That's my birthday, so I'll try to get them in before then, or later in the night. If anyone has any relevant diplomacy towards me, please send it as soon as you can.
