Small bug-fix released!

  1. Open borders is canceled immediately if war is declared and troops in enemy lands displaced.
  2. Various crash fixes.
!

SOOOOOOO glad about th open borders thing! i heard about that problem. Sounded sucky.
Maybe mine won't crash quite as often now! Yaaaaaay

Excellent. It is very promising that they are already working on and releasing patches. Not like DICE did with Bad Company 2 where we had to play a broken game for weeks before the first patch, which didn't even fix all the issues.

Is it compatable with pre-patch savegames? Will my I be able to continue my game from last night?

The AI valuation of cities does need to be fixed. I took 3 of Russia's outer cities, and they offered 6 of their remaining 10 cities for me to stop.

Look what has been said in the opening post, that has been fixed ;).

Is it possible to download this patch manually and apply it, outside of Steam?

With steamworks integrated, you can only get patches via steam, no way else.

well it seems the 25MB download from last night isn't the same as the patch.

That should have been the patch.

Also, did it fix the 201080 FINAL_RELEASE issue that was causing file sizes to increase exponentially?

Not yet, as far as i know.

Do you people realize you're saying it changed from 1.0.0.7... to 1.0.0.17... Now I wasn't particularly good at math in school... Actually I sucked, but for as much as I know 0.7 is more/bigger than 0.17... Isn't it?

With that going we'll have version 0.4.0.14 in a year... :shifty:

2 million more important things to fix and they fix this?

Nothing is more important than fixing the game crashes. Sorry, I know you're entitled to your opinion, but your opinion in this case is flat out wrong. The most balanced game in the world is no good if it crashes all the time.

0.7 IS larger than 0.17 in the decimal system. However, these wouldn't be valid decimal numbers anyway, since they contain more than one "decimal point."

Version numbers are merely a period-separated sequence of non-negative whole numbers. Having a fraction of an update wouldn't make sense, anyways.

versions aren't decimals, they're a series of sequences, so version 1.10 is greater than 1.9

so ...
1.0.0.1
1.0.0.2
...
1.0.0.7
1.0.0.8
1.0.0.9
1.0.0.10
1.0.0.11
...
1.0.0.17
1.0.0.18

that is true, but i haven't had a crash on a 64 bit windows. it crashed on 32 bit because it simply used too much memory to run.

Unit maintenance is definitely a needed fix. At the same time, we also need to know more about it and how it's calculated. It accounts for a third of my empire's maintenance, and I don't even have 1 unit per city!

I played last night, but now the game won't run, after choosing the DirectX9 option, nothing happens. Everytime I ask Steam to Verify Integrity for the game, it comes up with "1 item failed to validate and will be reacquired", and downloads an item of 22.1 Mb. The patch I guess. But the problem persist. AFAIK, the patch F'd my game.

I have good news and bad news.
The good news is that this is simple to fix and you won't lose anything.
Here's the fix: open up the steam library where it shows your games listed, right click on the civ 5 entry, and then click delete local files. After that, you can redownload the game, and it will include the patch. That was the bad news.
I had the same thing happen, before the patch, and in other games. It happens, though pretty rarely. No big deal, unless you're on dialup.

Thanks, I'll try that. Still, I can't stop thinking that if this wasn't a Steamworks game, I'd just have to re-install from disc without installing the patch, and that'd be all. I'm really not liking Steam right now...

Haha nooo, not the terrible peace deals!

Cesaer gave me 8 cities and all his extra resources for 25 turns just to spare his capital, and i had only conquered 2 of his cities in my counter attack, and was only threatening two more before I would have been out of steam. Pretty hilarious, but its probably is better that they fix that lol

Yeah doesn't seem like it's out yet. Still seeing some massive peace deals, also seeing units in borders at the declaration of war not getting booted out. GPT also still seems capped at 5.

So how exactly do you get steam to install this patch? I stay logged into my steam account, and start the game, but nothing downloads, nor am I prompted to download anything. I tried going to the "product updates" portion on steam, and nothing is listed for CIV V. My game still says 1.0.0.7 on the title screen. I have the retail version of the game. I see some people say the patch is not out yet, while others say their game version now says 1.0.0.17. Maybe it is only available on direct steam purchased versions of the game?
