My first instinct is Phoenicia. This looks very Mediterranean to me (yes I know the Ottomans also were in the Med). I'm wondering if the clue during the livestream was a fakeout clue.

They haven't done a fake-out clue yet. Although it's hard to say if they had a Canada clue in the Maori livestream.

The livestream clues have been really fun, definitely going for the Ottomans. I just wonder how they'll depict them this time, I think they'll be militaristic, and I'd guess Suleiman will balance them out.

Did some reading on the Topkapi Palace.
In the Harem there was a garden called the Courtyard of the Favorite. One of the features of this courtyard was boxwood topiary. Like this:
They can grow up to 12m tall. I believe this is what is depicted.

Hm I wonder what the implications of using Hagia Sophia for the Ottomans are for Byzantium in a possible third expansion. *thinking*
I hope it means Theodora leads Rome. Although a Byzantine Rome leader would still need their own background art. So the question of what they will use is begged either way.

The ottoman in the livestream is a very convincing argument. However, I wouldn't put it past Firaxis to mislead the community on purpose.
Apart from the Ottoman in the livestream, the trees in the picture look a little more like the trees @Eagle Pursuit posted. However, if you enhance the contrast you also see some people which I tentatively would interprete could be nuns.
Long story short: I don't know.
